I thought it was grim. We were woeful up-front, lacking in class ,ideas and power. We will limp to halfway in the table if this was any guide. Dack---the only class player on the pitch, Thomas---promising debut. We should have had a pen at the end but that would only have hidden the problems for another week. Can't beat the bottom of the table at home or even score---speaks for itself, but they signed 6 players in the transfer window and have a new manager---gives them a lift in vast contrast to us. A team lacking in ideas and spark. Looks really bad for us for the rest of the season.

I agree!

Well I've suggested that if no-one turned up to watch a game at Ewood the club would be so embarrassed that something would be done. Plenty of protests didn't affect Venkys one bit. If anything they doubled down. That doesn't preclude protests outside the stadium however. The rest of it you've made up.

That article of Sharpe's is as blunt and honest as I can remember the LT publishing. Fair play to him. I hope they're listening, This is one of those moments that you just instinctively know have long-term repercussions----like the 1960 Cup Final or Shearer leaving or Kean being appointed manager. You just know they are fateful days. and much will spring from them one way or another.

I simply asked you why you were optimistic. You replied it was just a feeling you had. Fair enough but unconvincing. Course he can talk sense but can he ensure a form gets properly filled out and in on time? Does he care enough---we do. And its laughable to suggest that the site wants" immediate results". After all these years of crap, we're still here, still wishing the club to do well, still hanging on in hope. But. its quite clear, if it wasn't already, that the Club is nowhere near geared up to meet our hopes. Blind optimism won't help.

I'll repeat what I said many times when Venkys took over "the only protest that the owners would have to take notice of would be if no supporters turned up."
-
Not the revelation we at first thought he'd be though is he after appearing to energise the club and getting great results early on? Which players have actually improved under him? I can think of 3 who've gone backwards---Travis,Buckley and Wharton. Arguably a fourth in Kaminski though I accept that might be temporary and Pears has improved. Our style of play, poor selections and players in the wrong positions make me wonder at times if he's Mowbray's love child! Don't want him gone by the way, has been badly let down by the transfer window fiasco. Difficult job for anyone now.
-
Just a feeling, no evidence for it! You're trying hard to deflect it to the site though, we're not giving him time! Bit thin.
-
Very defeatist from my point of view. In particular I'd love you to explain how or why you're "optimistic he can turn things around for us." What evidence is there for that?
-
There'll only be us fans left!

Rev, don't forget we've got 2 cock-ups here not just O'Brien. We've lost that 19 year old from Rochdale as well! There can't have been much in the way of financial implications there. So usual rule applies imo, cock-up not deliberate conspiracy--the staff couldn't do the job they're paid for and we are badly run.
-
An ever-lasting journey. Too much at stake personally to go for it. String it out as long as possible knowing you'll never get a job like this again. Such a chasm between our hopes and their's.
-
Doesn't matter does it? We stuff up these Windows on a regular basis. The only good thing that could come out of this is that lessons have been learned. I've no faith in that either tbh.
-
As easy as that! Bit ironic in view of recent events.
-
Undav wouldn't come! Clubs agreed terms, player said "NO". Can't see this as a near miss. Don't know much about the Kone attempt but, bottom line, we failed to sign him or any other striker which we desperately need. We had months to plan this.
-
I suppose Venkys could close down the club and sell everything off to reduce the debt they've incurred (or have created) but seems unlikely. It seems they don't expect the club to pay off the debt, regard it as their debt and aren't particularly bothered about it. Not true of Burnley's owners but promotion will solve that if they can then stay up. One set of owners seem quite venal but competent, the other willing to take the financial hit but utterly incompetent. Which would we prefer if we had a choice?
-
We tried and failed---history of this.
-
The bottom line is that we thought the minimum we needed in this transfer window was a striker and a mid-field enforcer. Since we didn't get either, and didn't even come close to getting a striker as far as I can see, this window represents total failure. In terms of manpower and morale among the squad and the supporters, it scuppers any chance we had of finishing in the Top 6. Its a really big blow which can't be explained away.
-
In the closing hours of a transfer window where we had only managed to get a winger on loan thus far I'd have expected those responsible for transfers to be at the coal-face.

As in snowballs!

If anyone wants to contact Waggot directly and tell him exactly what they think of this fiasco, his email is: Sw4gg0tt@rovers.co.uk

Well here's that post in the LT I referred to earlier and finally found (part of it anyway) Plant or Plank----you decide!!: Damned if they do, and damned if they dont. It sounds like we made an all out, last ditch attempt to pull off what would have been a couple of very ambitious pieces of business which may yet come to fruition. Reading these and earlier comments, the board must be wondering why they even bother to try to give the fans what they want. Such ingratitude is purely disrespectful. !
-
Ask him if he's ever confronted the fear that the jobs too big for him!
-
EFL will not want to set a precedent, otherwise there won't be a Transfer Window anymore, just transfers without limit. We had all the notice everyone else had and we stuffed up--- twice! Reading the Club statement I'm struck by how flimsy it sounds. Every transfer has legal, financial, teachical issues, ours are no different. Other clubs maybe have better staff who can meet deadlines.... Anyone else assuming we have no chance?
-
They needn't worry!
