  1. According to Wikipedia Evans has started 184 league games since he signed in 2013. In the same period he has played 41 games for Northern Ireland. Roughly for every 4.5 games he played for us he has played a game for Northern Ireland. I know Wikipedia is always the most accurate but I'm sure we all understand the theme here.
  2. You could well be right but who would pay his rumoured £15k each week? He is a crock and I don't think a very good player neither. One of two things will happen I believe. He will be here for the remainder of his contract and play a nominal number of matches in between injuries or we will pay him off. My money is on the latter.
  3. He is desperately trying to prove a point to justify the money he has wasted on Ayala. He has lots of previous in this regard and he will sell it to the gullable set who hang on his every word as a huge positive for next season. His shame has no bounds.
  4. I agree. Arguably the most high profile actor involved and we didn't actually see him live. Mercurio is playing the long game here.
  5. It is sums up the lack of absolute ambition and laziness at Ewood if Bell is offered a new which will presumably be on better terms. Even as a back up I think there are younger, better players in the lower leagues who would be an improvement on Bell. I have no issues with Bell, he is probably living his football dream but giving him a new deal just sends out completely the wrong message to supporters, many of whom are already wavering with regard to next season.
  6. https://footballleaguefc.com/blackburn-rovers-2019-20-player-wages/amp/ I wasn't sure where to put this so feel free to move it if there is a more appropriate thread. I don't know the accuracy of it so please don't shoot the messenger.
  7. Sheffield Wednesday, arguably one of the poorest Championship teams have just conceded a penalty (albeit missed) by trying to play out from the back. It's crazy expecting players with clear inadequacies to play in a way massively above the level of their abilities.
  8. It's Steve Cooper whose father is a close friend from our refereeing days.
  9. I can't agree on the coaches. How many players have improved under Mowbray and his coaches? Dack, Armstrong? After that I'm struggling. A coaches role is to improve individuals and integrate team plans. I have been told that we do hardly any work on set pieces, offensively and defensively. This is borne out by a lack of goals at one end and a plethora of goals at the other end. My friends son manages a Championship club and he tells me there is a huge emphasis on set plays and he reckons it can be a difference between success and failure. The evidence doesn't lie here.
  10. That's too simple a plan for Mowbray and Co. One striking feature of his tenure is that he really seems to like over complicating a relatively simple game.
  11. Nearly everyone I speak to is of the opinion Nyambe could play at a higher level due to his attributes and if his faults were ironed out. He is a player to me who just hasn't really progressed due to the poor standard of coaching in the last four years. I think a smart coach could improve him immeasurably as the raw materials are there for us all to see.
  12. Even a local journo is advising Swag and his ilk. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-pne-stoke-season-tickets-20480192
  13. Waggott dangled a carrott to us all and if he knew that's whatever was doing he's a bigger snake than I thought. I wonder if Mowbray was under the impression there would be a new pitch too.
  14. 46 - is that the waist size Andy? 😄😄😄
  15. Populated by what looks like three men and a dog 😁😁. Perhaps an ominous sign for next season.
  16. To add credence to your information I heard similar about it although the figure I was told was £30k. I'm not splitting hairs but merely supporting your point that they are scrimping once again on an important area of the football side of the club despite what Waggott said in February. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19124191.rovers-ceo-outlines-2m-ewood-park-pitch-renovations-plans/
  17. There is far too much emphasis on pace in the modern game. Being quick is undoubtedly an asset but all the best players I have seen have an uncanny knack of being in the right places despite not having great pace. Probably the best example of this, Bobby Moore once said that the first few yards were in your head. Maybe it's more of a natural trait rather than being coached but I agree entirely with your assertion.
  18. Johnson and Downing not involved at all. I wonder if these are two of the players not getting a new deal after Mowbray said all the out of contract players know now. The bad news is that Bell and Evans start so applying the same logic they might be getting new deals. Who knows in this madhouse of a club.
  19. Fits the bill. Ex Middlesbrough, can still live on Teeside and join the car share club from Yarm. I feel a three year deal coming.
  20. Hence the word should. That blind loyalty will be rewarded in a near empty stadium next season, a God awful manager and coaching staff, a self serving parasitic Chief Exec and a relegation bound team. And that's before any mention of idiotic, arrogant owners.
  21. And that, my friend should resonate with every Rovers supporter. The people who have been up in arms since Sunday with regard to awful owners have endured for a few days what we have for a decade. We are only little Blackburn Rovers so we hardly merited any national media coverage apart from being criticised for protesting. We were let down every organisation we turned to. Football is a horrible business and mirrors society where the rich and powerful are protected and the lesser mortals are left by the wayside.
  22. They are losing 2-1 now. If it stays that way they will be four points behind Derby with two games in hand although out of their five remaining games only one is at home.
  23. I can't ever remember such a disconnect between clubs and fans in football. Clearly Rovers is uppermost in most of our minds but this latest farce will be the final straw for many supporters of other clubs. The insatiable greed shown by the 'big six' will hopefully hit them hard in terms of their income streams despite their groveling, condescending apologies.
  24. Last night proved to me that several players are going through the motions and playing by instinct rather than to any plan Mowbray might have. The team looked disjointed, disinterested and most likely disillusioned just like many of us fans and it's entirely down to one man. We are entering one of the most critical summers of our recent history and the club is treading water and showing no urgency or, dare I say interest. Waggott, Mowbray and his coaching staff are getting away with murder as our club continues to rot from the inside.
  25. Is the pitch Feniscowles Rec?
