  1. You don't have to justify it to anybody mate. I hope your daughter has a great night and is on your case to take her to every home game. I am taking my granddaughter who has been to several games and is now asking questions about various aspects of the game.
  2. I think that rightly so it will be only results that shift him. I honestly don't care about team selection or tactics if we win but conversely losing means he comes under greater scrutiny.
  3. I personally wouldn't have picked Bennett as captain Andy but you are absolutely right. The problem is with the manager who promoted him to captain when, in my opinion there are better candidates. I don't know of any professional footballer who would turn the role of captain down.
  4. I really don't get the arbitrary ten games which seems to me a figure plucked out of the air. In the last two relegation seasons I predicted that we would go down after the first couple of games. Whilst results were obviously important I saw that several players weren't good enough and the managers simply didn't have a plan or the wherewithal to start winning. Whilst we are not at that stage yet I think another couple of consecutive defeats and we will be. For me we need two wins in our next three to save Mowbray and stop us falling into the abyss.
  5. Kevin Stonehouse passed away before the Charlton game and there was no tribute. It might be because they do a mass tribute to players and supporters who have passed away usually in the New Year. I think for players though there should be individual tributes.
  6. I saw him. He was trying to get hold of his drink but it took him three attempts before he got it. ??
  7. I find this talk of a Director of Football to work with Mowbray a bit pie in the sky. I believe Mowbray likes the autonomy and control he has at Rovers. I just don't think he would want somebody telling/advising him on football matters.
  8. I was thinking about the Mulgrew situation on my delayed train journey home last night and I think that something certainly triggered off his hasty and abrupt departure on Thursday. Mowbray talked about shaking hands and conversations about lack of game time but the Danny Graham situation is pretty much the same to me. We are changing the way we play and Mowbray wants more mobility in the brave New world he waffles on about. This means to me that Graham will not be getting much game time but unlike Mulgrew is still here. Whatever the story Mowbray is putting out I think there is a lot he is not telling us.
  9. Me too - I always think of that snivelling, lip licking t*** whenever I hear or read it.
  10. He did acknowledge the fans but there wasn't too much enthusiasm in his clapping.
  11. Just on the train back after another disappointing result. I thought we were decent until we gave Cairney the freedom of Craven Cottage to score. The result had an air of inevitability about it from then and in the second half I thought Fulham were better as some of our players disappeared. Gallagher seems to be a poor man's Danny Graham but Mowbray seems to like him. Losing can become a habit and I'll already fearful that we are in for a long season. Mowbray has questions to answer but his autonomy will prevent this.
  12. I really don't understand why they needed to play (presumably 90 minutes) the day before a Championship match.
  13. That's as poor a back four as we've had for years. Mitrovic will have a field day.
  14. Personally I don't think he's anywhere near good enough and was amazed he got another year.
  15. A captain has to do some sabre rattling at times and I don't see Lenihan as that man. Bradley Johnson strikes me as more of a natural leader. However if I was a betting man my money would be on Elliot Mowbray-Bennett.
  16. In the final analysis our ins and outs have cost just over one million. Once again I'm scratching my head by the 'similar budget to last year' interview from the Ewood hierarchy. I think the wage bill will have increased mainly due to not being able to shift players out but that again is down to bad management in putting average Joe's on very good wages. It was also Mowbray's fifth transfer window. I feel a little short changed by the overall dealings and hopefully there will be some searching questions asked over the next few weeks. I am certainly worried about our prospects of staying up this season as we are only an injury or two away from disaster.
  17. Thanks. My post was based on the rumour of a bust up.
  18. Without the almost obligatory "thanks for the hard work and effort" line. Even Bradley Orr got that.
  19. 18,000 posts.......I wish we had a regular attendance that big. ?
  20. Last November I was told that Mowbray stopped Mulgrew joining up with the Scotland squad as he hadn't played in some previous games due to injury. Mulgrew allegedly wasn't pleased and words were exchanged. From around that time Mulgrews form has been shocking culminating in a dreadful performance against Middlesbrough when he went lame early in the second half and we didn't see him again until Saturday when he was poor. I think it's the right decision to let him go but surely Mowbray should have got a replacement in first knowing that Mulgrew wasn't happy. Mowbray has often praised the spirit of the squad and I always believed that Mulgrew was central to this. I really hope some players don't down tools in sympathy. Cunningham seems a good signing in an area where it was needed. I sincerely hope we don't see a repeat of last season when our lack of centre halves saw us capitulate. Mowbray is entering the most testing time of his tenure. Personally I don't think he handles the pressure too well. If this is ramped up through poor results he might just cash his chips in.
  21. That's pretty much my take too. I think Mowbray was happy with his lot before Saturday and the woeful defending convinced him we need changes and quickly. I don't believe getting Mulgrew out and Cunningham in had been a possibility before Saturday. A new left back releases Williams to replace Mulgrew at centre half.
  22. Has Cunningham in and Mulgrew out been officially confirmed anywhere?
