Impossible to predict because absolutely anything can happen in summer and i think we got away with one this season in terms of bettering expectations. We had Eustaces hard to beat mentality and still a touch of JDT's flair sprinkled in there but sooner or later that'll begin to leave us as it's coached and and players change. We also will not keep getting away with selling every player of value whilst filling the squad with kids and freebies. Going into next season as we are now i'd say 11-15th place, which those drawing their big wages in head office would be delighted with. As always home form will be key, pity the club and owners don't help their head coaches and team by trying to fill the ground up.

Excellent summary and thanks for your efforts during the season. On the whole I would think that Rovers have been disappointed by the loans out although that could be the main factor in how Rovers decide their futures. - Today

‘Lowey’ is too busy spying on the manager and the STC for the owners to move down to the academy.

Whilst I remember, thank you to all those who offered thanks for these updates throughout the season. I often didn't reply at the time as to not clutter up the thread, but your comments were very much appreciated 🙂 -

Thanks River Boggan looks a great finisher, hope he can be tied down to a longer contract. This article indicates he either must already be 18, (or will be later this month) so will then be able to sign a longer term deal I think Tyjon will end up as more of a Szmodics type than an out and out striker. Looks to have the movement and intelligence to pull that off but possibly not the physicality to lead the line by himself. Valentin Joseph in the U18s is a real powerhouse no9 though. Will be interesting to see if he can step up an age group as he really bullied U18 defenders this season -

Absolutely. Those who cannot adapt, are doomed to failure Even if we were to be extremely charitable to those who run the club and accept that spending money in January and/or promotion/play offs this season was not the plan. It made absolutely no sense to not take advantage of the position that we found ourselves in come the January window. I do not think any of us were expecting us to go for broke and spend £30M, but surely it made sense to invest in a few players who could have strengthened the team at the time, as well as offering good market value contracts to t Travis, Brittain & Tronstad etc. If in the end, had that not been enough, then those players could have been sold on with serval years left on their contracts (& therefore a much higher resale value tan we see now), with no impact on long term finances - Yesterday

Looks like you did! I remember my Dad coming home after that Newcastle semi-final defeat. I wasn't allowed to go because he thought I'd get crushed in the crowd! He was very disappointed that we lost, undeserved he felt.

The club as it stands is not nearly as marketable as it could be, if the owners tried to make it more attractive. They must look at the current roster, & the fact we were 2 points off playoffs, & try to invest some money to get us to the 3-6 range. It would bolster their investment in the club, and if somehow get us to PL, they could make more of their investment back- if they choose to sell. -

Was taken by my dad to a game when I was 4, no memory. A 0-0 draw against Plymouth I believe. The first I have real memory of, what I’d call “my first game” was the Playoff Final at Wembley against Leicester aged 5. Memories of the day are hazy, but I remember the train ride down and the colours/sights/sounds/smells. The old Wembley being a pretty cool place to start. -
Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Watching on Saturday I was reminded of the last time we had a shot at the playoffs and Pears gave Millwall two goals, we overcame but ultimately fell short overall but in contrast Toth looked assured. Reckon he would have done better than Dennis with the header as well! -

Well it's the 3rd time its happened so it's never been part of any plan all they've ever done i buff the squad out they've never gone for instant impact. I do suspect someone somewhere thought Dennis might deliver that this time to be fair but whoever it was needs keeping away from bringing people in in the future. Amazing how they got that over the line despite the cost but somehow totally screwed up TWO previous big signings.... -
What are your expectations for next Season?
alcd replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Bottom 3 from start to finish. Can't be anything else when the squad will lose its best 5 players for very little compensation and the self-serving Gestede is running the recruitment. -
He never wanted to go. Another Wharton.

Hard to say. Newton was back for the next game, then missed the next 6. He played in the Preston game you mention on Dec 13 th but never played another game for us before his record transfer to Everton. Maybe he was “ unsettled “ but that wasn’t really his style. So you saw him play his last game for Rovers. -

I was at that one as well. Zzzzzz. But it didn’t matter, we were on our way back. -
I'd do the same if I were him, frankly because of fans like the one who posted just above you. Gets far, far more stick than he deserves.

... replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm hoping that the heat from this seasons coalition and all the airtime they've had that something will happen in the transfer window. -
Lots can happen between now and the transfer window shutting at the end of August. We could have sold Trav and Tron by then, and anyone else who’s contract is up in the next 12 months. There are no guarantees we’ll replace them if they do go. We don’t really know enough about the manager yet either to have any confidence he’ll do well next season.

Have you attended a La Liga game? You'll find the numbers of away fans are tiny, it's impacts them a hell of a lot less. Likewise fans rely on TV coverage a lot more for the same reason. Obviously the size of the country makes it a lot harder to travel, along with the small away allocations, but comparing the 2 is pretty pointless.

I'd like to see Litherland, Edmondson and Dunn involved in pre-season with the first team. If they get a league club loan move, then fine, but otherwise, should stay around the firsts. They were the better performers in a dismally lowkey U21s campaign. Not sure about Montgomery but probably deserves a chance in pre-season too. I've been a backer of Buckley, his natural talent being evident. However, it's time for him to move on, I suspect. If he was to stay, I'd like to give him a go a last chance as an attacking midfielder. But, chances are, he will leave as he fell behind Montgomery in the pecking order, it seemed, in the final games.

I watched a bit of that interview posted above. Gestede’s comments about not investing in Jan cos it wasn’t the plan to get promoted are utter lunacy. He comes across as a really dumb bloke trying to be a smart arse.
