philipl Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Not necessarilly a bad draw- result on the night after extra time and penalties. Great for Rovers' supporters that we will be getting probably the best team in Europe at Ewood a second time this season. We've beaten Chelsea in the recent past and gave them a bit of a fright when they came to Ewood during our poor start. Chelsea will have not been wanted a trip to Ewood, that's for sure.

Wolverine Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Look on the bright side, no one would expect us to win. Better than losing away to Notts County or something! I reckon we can take em...
Cocker Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Do Chelsea field a weakened team in this competition? I sure hope so. The problem here is that their weakened team is just as good as any other team
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 (edited) £36 a ticket anyone! Strange but i feel slightly disappointed. Edited September 23, 2006 by SIMON GARNERS 194

OhmiBRFC Posted September 23, 2006 Author Posted September 23, 2006 If we win I reckon we can go all way
Perth_Rover Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 No a bad draw, as it is that early in the cup chelsea won't be to bothered with it, as they would if it was a semi or quarter final. We could beat them from their attitude towards it!!!
1864roverite Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 (edited) one of the biggest games in the draw - a surefire bet for tv. guaranteed low attendance guaranteed moanalot will moan guaranteed exit ? Think not, I see Rovers knocking them out LITERALLY Edited September 23, 2006 by 1864roverite
AussieinUk Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 (edited) Not really happy about the draw, Chelsea will field a reasonable side for the cup game. On the positives, we can beat them, its at home, its penalties after extra time and we should get some television money from this. C'MON ROVERS! The 3rd round draw Wycombe v Doncaster Sheffield United v Birmingham Leicester v Aston Villa Watford v Hull Leeds v Southend Chesterfield v West Ham Notts County v Southampton Newcastle v Portsmouth Charlton v Bolton Liverpool v Reading West Brom v Arsenal Port Vale v Norwich Everton v Luton MK Dons v Tottenham Crewe v Manchester United Blackburn v Chelsea IMO the games; Newcastle V Pompey, Rovers V Chelsea and Leicester V Aston Villa will be the games shown on TV. Are there usually three games on tv in the carling cup? Would it not be just two? one on the tuesday and one on the wednesday? Doesnt matter because i think we will be on anyway
Bing Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Sky usually like to show matches with potential giantkillings. They have enough bog-standard Prem Vs Prem as it is. I'd guess at them picking the MK Dons v Tottenham and Chesterfield v West Ham games.
frosty Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 Tough draw, confident we can do it though.

AggyBlue Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 I wonder what the pricing policy will be for this one, lets hope the club keep it sensible and we can get a decent crowd in. We should be able to see off Cheskis 2nd string. Shouldn't we?
Bing Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 This was the Chelsea team that was knocked out by Charlton early on in last year's competition: Cudicini, Paulo Ferreira, Terry, Huth, Bridge (Lampard 60), Wright-Phillips (Joe Cole 60), Essien, Geremi, Robben, Gudjohnsen, Crespo (Drogba 83). Subs Not Used: Cech, Diarra.
SAS Posted September 23, 2006 Posted September 23, 2006 not too worried about this uefa cup comes first if we win on thursday ill take a loss in this
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Agree SAS, the Uefa cup has priority over the League cup for me also. The chance to play the likes of Ajax, PSG, Feyenoord, Marseilles,Rangers and Fenerbache to name just a few at Ewood is a mouth watering prospect indeed.
S15 Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Chelsea at home in the first round of entering the League Cup is without a doubt the best possibly draw. Given an easy route, Chelsea will win any competition, this one included, so to get them now and knock them out increases our chances of winning the cup by about 10-15%.
CAPT KAYOS Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Agree SAS, the Uefa cup has priority over the League cup for me also. As I have said before - nothing should take priority in Football - they are games and cups to be one regardless and should treat each as such. Take each game as it comes.
gumboots Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 Mark Hughes agrees. He wants to win everything!
SAS Posted September 24, 2006 Posted September 24, 2006 well obvisouly you want to win but if one was to take priority...
Wolverine Posted September 25, 2006 Posted September 25, 2006 Looks like the mighty chelsea are a little intimidated... http://www.cfc-net.co.uk/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19466
