Nothing like a bit of ambition Hughesy. In the same way Anelka would never join Bolton, I don't know what Sam was thinking trying for him.

Beckham is a massive icon - a sporting legend known the world over and can almost demand whatever terms he wants - Not sure you can say the same about Anelka?!

Seriously should he decide to come to england - Everton, Spurs, Sunderland, maybe even Liverpool & Villa would all be in the line before us..........NOT A CHANCE. I agree their is nothing wrong with Ambition, but this is more than that.

Just imagine him signing for Bumley!!!:lol::lol:

I can see Posh stood on the longside giving the away fans the v`s & w####rs hand gestures for the entire match B) whilst Romeo & Manhattan (what-ever he`s called??) draw felt-tip BNP tats on their arms & practice their nazi-style salutes.

They could even try for another child & call it Bacup Beckham ;)

I think Beckham will no doubt be looking for a move in January and would of course consider coming to the premiership, the only chance we have then of signing him is if there is a very small queue for his signature or that only the likes of Bolton, Hull etc are after him which is unlikely.

However at least it makes a change too be thinking big again, even if it's just a pipe dream it's not hurting.

His wages are almost a moot point, any club he goes too would sell a huge amount of shirts which would help cushion the high/relatively high wages he'd command so Beckham will probably have a large choice of clubs across Europe after him.

This man needs a good bloody shave with a sharp razor blade. He looked like a werewolf when coming on as a substitute against Belarus at Wembley tonight.

Fabio Capello said that Beckham was "too tired" to play against Ukraine on Saturday. Beckham covered more than 6,500 miles flying from Los Angeles to London and then on to Ukraine to watch the game from the stands.

Because of his loan move to AC Milan for the first six months of this year he's been playing for the last 10 months without an extended break from football. (He played for Milan from January until May, then joined up with England for World Cup qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Andorra before heading back to America to join Galaxy's season in July.)

It seems that Beckham is hoping to return to the San Siro in January. I suspect that all those air miles (combined with the football he's played over the last 10 months) are starting to take their toll on Beckham's 34-year-old grotesquely tattooed body.

It's always been something of a mystery to me why so many women find this materialistic, inarticulate and hideously tattooed man attractive. But it's perhaps indicative of the society we live in these days - brain cells are regarded as less "sexy" than money. Our liberal media and poor standards of education contribute to the sickening selfish chav society we live in today where people like Beckham are regarded as "heroes", and intelligent people like the late Enoch Powell are treated with disdain.

If I was Fabio Capello I would not take Beckham to the World Cup. He's tired and he lacks pace. He plays for six months of the year in America where the standard of football is much lower than is required for top class International football.

Mr Capello should have said: "Goodnight, thank you and farewell" to Beckham a year ago.

I strongly disagree with you. David Beckham for all the media parade that follows him around, he's still a very good player and in my opinion undoubtley should be in the squad if not pushing for a place in the starting eleven.

He never had any pace to lose in the first place so I don't see that as major problem. In his brief cameo tonight he proved what he can add to the England national team and it isn't just what he contributes on the pitch it's the aura that Beckham brings with him that seems to send belief both throughout the team and the England fans in the crowd. There's certain people in sports that have a buzz around them that just becomes infectious and inspires team-mates and fans alike.

A very good example from another sport would be Andrew "Freddie" Flintoff in the recent Ashes test series, he was playing through the pain barrier with a serious knee injury and was obviously no where near at 100%, regardless of this he managed to play for England when it really mattered. When you look at the figures you'll see that Flintoff wasn't by any means one of the major contributors from the England team but the mere presense of having him out on the field and in the changing rooms in my opinion was a signinficent factor behind England's Ashes victory.

Beckham has a similar effect on the England national football team. He is still an icon, a talisman and a terrific player to boot. His passing range and set-pieces are worth his place in the squad alone. If England are behind and needing somebody to come on and make something happen you'd do well to find anyone better than David Beckham. England have many options at right-side midfield currently Walcott, Wright-Phillips and Lennon to name but three. If however there was one last chance for England God forbid to get an equalising goal in a World Cup final you'd want Beckham on the ball, since his delivery and final balls are far superior to the three mentioned above.

Got to agree, still think Beckham is better then any other option you have for the right side. That is not to diminsih his ability as he is still one of the best dead ball specialists around and has more passing range then anyone else including Gerrard in the England squad.

Just perfect! "hideously tatooed body" "grotesquely tatooed body" references to Enoch! Don't ever change Smithy!

Steve McClaren tried that and remind me what happened to that campaign?

You saw in 30minutes exactly what David Beckham can bring to your team. Hard work defensively and top quality passes/crosses. Lennon, Walcott, SWP, etc all don't have the ability to cross but have exceptional pace. Beckham will be on that plane, unless injured.
