Hughesy Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Pray that we see some news on this lad signing soon for us..... Just what we need
Backroom Tom Posted June 28, 2011 Backroom Posted June 28, 2011 He'd have to be insane to go to Russia, nobody should be subject to this (from a Zenit fan) http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13906779.stm Russia still has a culture of racism in football, especially Zenit: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2299242/Zenit-fans-are-racist-admits-Dick-Advocaat.html
Roverite28 Posted June 28, 2011 Posted June 28, 2011 If he vaules money over morals then let him go to russia, he will soon be greeted by and
alexanders Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Still no bid Seems like the player himself and his agents really wants the move to Rovers, but we are trying to get the lowest price possible.
Hughesy Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Still no bid Seems like the player himself and his agents really wants the move to Rovers, but we are trying to get the lowest price possible. Rehashed story, same quotes as around 3-4 days ago.

Personally can understand Rovers reluctance to pay 75k.. this list is from a year ago but won't of changed that much. 75k a week is 3.9m per annum that would put Cisse just below the top 50 earners.. Mirror mind.. but cant be to far off
alexanders Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Totally agree. Dont want us to sign this guy if the price is above £10m and asks for 70k p/w.
roverandout Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 you wont get any top class strikers nowadays for less than 10 million, even a 19 year old rookie has gone for over 10 million (in payments). if you want the best you have to pay the best.
Backroom DE. Posted June 30, 2011 Backroom Posted June 30, 2011 He's not worth £75k p/w at this juncture. He's not proven himself to be a world-class striker yet, as evidenced by the lack of interest in him from the bigger clubs. If he's demanding anything over £50k p/w basic I'd look elsewhere.

But is he the best? or even anywhere close to? He's had 1 great season therefore his value has risen dramatically. Totally unproven in the prem.

Well we are open to your suggestions? Its ok saying he's unproven, but to get a proven premier league striker, the right age, with potential to improve further, your going to have to spend much more than £12m.

Its ok saying he's unproven, but to get a proven premier league striker, the right age, with potential to improve further, your going to have to spend much more than £12m. Price isn't the big issue here.. it's more down to his excessive wage demands, Drogba was on 65k until a season or two ago, Keane is on 65k even Joe Cole who went for his pay day on a free is apparently on less than 75k, Modric was already world class when he moved and is on 65k according to various newspaper reports, arshavin is on 80k.. even the average pay at Manu is lower than his wage demands... madness IMO for the long term structure of the club. Sure pay 75k for world class but is he there yet?
Tricky Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Sure pay 75k for world class but is he there yet? risky, id rather we snapped up bellamy and wright phillips instead

West Brom signed Peter Odemwingie for peanuts last summer, he scored 15 league goals. If you look hard enough you don't have to spend shed loads to get quality players. We've been doing that for the best part of a decade.
bluebruce Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 risky, id rather we snapped up bellamy and wright phillips instead That would probably cost about 8 million or so up front anyway, more in wages than Cisse, and last us how long? Besides, we've no use for SWP when we have Hoilett.

Benni McCarthy, Bellamy, RSC? there are bargains to be found, without breaking the bank. Miss you Mark Hughes lol
Tim Southampton Rover Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 That's another 5k on top of his weekly wage then lol
brfc4ever Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Scored a hat-trick in a friendly last night. 11 - 1 Against an amateur club...
