rovers11 Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 5 now. Woeful. No organization and no fight. Great result for us though. Restores our superior goal difference that we lost after the arsenal game.

Audax Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Getting up on goal difference (GD) is great, getting a draw is great but whomever said really, these games are worth more than 3 points is what is really true, Wolves could have put distance in today. I actually layed awake last night, thinking, not that long ago, a few years ago, Rovers were up around 8th in the table, even higher. And now battling it out for 17th, 18th, 19th and even 20th if a result did not come out in a good way.... it's disappointing but there apparently is misery around. But the team that slams down some wins, won't be sweating all this and it's a precarious position to be in to begin with.
Backroom DE. Posted March 4, 2012 Backroom Posted March 4, 2012 At least our heavy defeat was against a team gunning for the top 4. Losing 5-0 to Fulham is humiliating... Fulham have dominated as well. Wolves are playing like a team who are already down. Unfortunately I doubt they'll be this abject when we play them next week.
m1st Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I don't disagree entirely and certainly agree with it being very hit and miss. I just feel that it is something they might do and that it might actually work now that (in my eyes) the standard of the league has dropped dramatically. Outside of Eastlands I cannot truly think of anyone who is world class (I'm sure there are one or two but they escape me at the minute!) and even average players and average teams can have an impact in the Premier League these days. Norwich City and, to an extent, Swansea City are proving that, with a decent scouting system and good coaching, players who've spent much of their careers in the Football League can kack it in the Premier League. So, perhaps all we need is a decent scouting system and good coaching!
Pitty Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I know off topic but Sunderland got 2 players sent off today, Will they miss the game against Rovers? they are 2 big players for them hence giving us a better chance of beating them.

ElTwis Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Sessignon (sp) was a straight red so that will depend on whether sunderland appeal. Cattermole was due a suspension because of his first yellow anyway so he certainly won't be playing.

Yes, both will definitely miss the rovers game. Sessegnon won't have his card overturned.
Kiwiwannabe Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Sessegnon should be missing, three-game ban, and suspect Cattermole will be too, if it's three games for a straight red for foul and abusive language. They have a League match at home to Liverpool and the FA Cup tie at Everton before they come to Ewood.
John Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Superb weekend for us. Forfeiting the Cardiff game is starting to look like genius from Kean.
Stuart Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Superb is a bit of a stretch but we've definitely had the rub of the green this weekend.

That is all very well , we still have to beat them and we have a lack of talent and a shocking manager !!! But I would prefer to play Sunderland without the those 2...
Sparky Marky Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Talksport Press pass on now and they all reckon we have too many good players to go down..... :0
yoda Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Talksport Press pass on now and they all reckon we have too many good players to go down..... :0 Same can't be said about the clown though (I refuse to say manager) If he were on gardening leave we would stand a better chance
Backroom Tom Posted March 4, 2012 Backroom Posted March 4, 2012 Talksport Press pass on now and they all reckon we have too many good players to go down..... :0 Thing is when you watch the team Yakubu looks to be the only player of genuine quality left, a few others have their moments but too inconsistent or lacking in areas.
Gally Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I think the team that lost the most this weekend was QPR for me. They have so many tough games left that anything other than three points in games they see as winable is a setback. If they don't come out of next weekends game away at Bolton with anything, they would be going on to face 6 of the top teams with form that has brought them one point from games against Wolves, Us, Fulham, Everton and Bolton. I don't care how good their manager is, they have to be the team most likely to go down as things stand.
Mercer Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 Looked at the remaining 12 fixtures for each of the bottom five and I think Rovers will be safe by just 1 point. My prediction: 16 Bolton 36 17 Rovers 34 18 Wolves 33 19 & 20 QPR & Wigan 32 After the weekend's matches, still think we will just scrape through and that Kean will be proved correct in that yesterday's point will prove valuable. I think the big loser over the weekend was Wigan - they had to get at least a point and Whelan going ballistic shows that. 16 Bolton 36 17 Rovers 34 18 Wolves 33 19 QPR 32 20 Wigan 31
Ozz Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Since the departure of Samba, how good do people think this current squad is ? Premiership standard or not? Where would a normal manager likely get this team to finish in the top flight? I would say it would need a Special One to get this lot in the mid table area.

First eleven = just about good enough to compete in the premier league but bottom 6 or 7 standard. I would say our first eleven is on a par if not slightly better than the current bottom four plus Norwich and Swansea (who have both overperformed this season).
Kamy100 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Slight boost for Rovers, Cattermole has received a 4 match ban and Sessegnon should get a 3 match ban so both will be missing for Rovers v Sunderland match on 20th March!
thenodrog Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Superb weekend for us. Forfeiting the Cardiff game is starting to look like genius from Kean. It's forfeiting the Bolton and WBA matches and intentionally spewing the Everton and Norwich matches that makes me wonder about that genius statement.
BuckyRover Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 How about forfeiting the Bolton and WBA matches and intentionally spewing the Everton and Norwich matches that makes me wonder about that genius statement. I assumed he was joking as it doesn't really make much sense otherwise.

A relegation scrap would be so much easier with Samba and Givet at CH and Emo on the right and Ped on the left doubling back and helping out the full backs. Hoilett could then share creative / striking responsibilities with Dunny in the hole behind Yakubu to minimise the defensive / fitness failings of the pair of them.
