Give 'Em the Axe Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Aren't O'Neill and O'Leary more or less the same manager though? I wouldn't have thought so!

Grez Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Laudrup just resigned at Mallorca, but what got me was his quote: Laudrup said: "For the good of the team and the club this is the best solution." Read this steve - it's called leadership
m1st Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 What about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to replace Baldrick when he's "asked to leave"? Aren't Molde top of the Norwegian League? "Asked to leave"; what's that all about, anyway?
TAFKAP Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Don't be surprised if Walter Smith gets touted about as Kean's replacement in the next few days.
FourLaneBlue Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 What about Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to replace Baldrick when he's "asked to leave"? Aren't Molde top of the Norwegian League? "Asked to leave"; what's that all about, anyway? It means they wouldn't have to pay up his compensation. Now, Kean might be incompetent as a manager, but he isn't daft.
tomphil Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 He also said less on 16th September that Blackburn will appoint a new manager within the next 2 weeks. Also said Kean will not be sacked but asked to leave. This tit knows nowt, has no one thought its prob just a Blackburn based bookie tryin to get a betting splurge now an again
roverandout Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 what would be the point of hiring o'neil to work with kean, kean is the problem, he needs to be removed permanently to remedy the situation.
47er Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 A face-saving device would be for Kean to run the Academy in Pune.
broadsword Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 A face-saving device would be for Kean to run the Academy in Pune. Wouldn't exactly be face-saving, that's a massive step down. I wouldn't trust him to walk my dog. He's terrible and he has to be removed completely from this club.
Hughesy Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Don't be surprised if Walter Smith gets touted about as Kean's replacement in the next few days. Why? Brownie on Twitter says he has heard a big announcement is to be made on thurs or friday - not related to Kean or Hoilett.
PAFELL Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Why? Brownie on Twitter says he has heard a big announcement is to be made on thurs or friday - not related to Kean or Hoilett. Venkys selling?????????????
chris Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Director of football A director of football would give Kean another 4-5 games I think even if he losesv to Man City, as it will be considered a fresh start.
broadsword Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Please not a Director of Football. Appointing one of those is always a bodge.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 A director of football would give Kean another 4-5 games I think even if he losesv to Man City, as it will be considered a fresh start. Please not a Director of Football. Appointing one of those is always a bodge. I have to agree with both comments. Directors of football setups have worked abroad but I can't think of any examples that spring to mind of such a setup working over here. If a DOF comes in and form stays the same then that will mean we are stuck with Kean and that Rovers will be relegated. The newly appointed director will be the one that gets the can and not Kean if results don't improve. JA/SEM/Kentaro are playing a blinder if they get a DOF in, a nice human shield for their boy wonder Stevie 'I don't win games' Kean.
Veevs Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Depends if it is someone with a decent name as a preemptive move so we actually have someone to replace Kean instantly.
den Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Director of football Interesting. In a stable club with good management on and off the field, DOF's have always seemed to me to be more of a destabilising factor. When everything is going well and the manager has all the necessary qualities, I would be dead against this. However, at the moment, for Venky's it could be a very good move. As long as the DOF is a top footballing man and Venky's actually listen to what he tells them, it could be a turning point - in the short term at least. It would give Venky's the expertise that they are looking for, and it would definately make the manager answerable to someone who knows what they're talking about. Venky's would also get the independent advice on the use of agents and general footballing decisions that they very much lack. So, short term I reckon it could bring the turning point that the club needs. Interesting.
chaddyrovers Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Agent_ITK has said that David O'Leary is being linked with 2 premiership clubs and 1 championship club. wonder if we are 1 of the premier league teams interest in him. https://twitter.com/#!/Agent_ITK
martonrover Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Kean is one slimey toad. He would survive a nuclear war and go on to manage the ants
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Possible outcomes: Jensen gone + Kean sacked= new manager. Jensen gone + Kean remains as a coach/assistant + new manager. Jensen gone + Kean remains as manager + Director of football. Whatever happens next will say a lot about Venky's judgement.

There's not really a president when it comes to sacking the No. 2 - apart from Chelski I suppose.
