To be fair Gumboots comes across as a passionate Rover but, I believe, is not a native East Lancastrian so maybe doesn't share a hatred of b*rnly

Quite true, and I have a son in law who is a burnley fan. I love it when we beat them, but want them to beat anyone else

Good win for our pals but that was a great time to play ' City at home. They're blowing cold in the League and they've got a " Cup final "away at Barcelona mid week. Sometimes staying up is all about when you play teams. I remember when we played the red rats at Ewood, they needed a point to win it, we needed a point to stay up. It was like watching a submarine race with the most predictable outcome ever.

Well there's no cheering from me. Gutting.

Absolutely and it was a penalty. Referee wimped out because it was so late in the game and so vital for Burnley. Disgusting.

Sorry but hating Burnley is an essential part of the package.:)

I went to the Burnley City game yesterday. Burnley were well organised, disciplined, hard working and kept their shape for 90 minutes. City clearly had far better players but struggled to make any real impression. The main criticism of Burnley's play was in the first half they were slow to the ball and City kept stepping in front of them.

Given Burnley's league position it is very sobering to realise how far off the PL standard we are. On the evidence of yesterday Rovers wouldn't have a prayer in the PL. The support was very vocal all around the ground just confirming the morgue Ewood has become.

I watched the game, and the points you make could easily be said about our performance at Liverpool. Dyche can set up his team, but the scum are still bottom three, and long may that continue. Remember they lost 2-0 at Anfield same week, and don't say they tired Liverpool out?

Freak result!

Why would a rovers fan go and watch Burnley? I would not step foot on the turd unless rovers played.

You say ewood is a morgue ...what do YOU do to get it going?

Yep that's certainly true but I'd say there's a difference between league and cup games.

Why would I say Burnley tired Liverpool? They, Liverpool, had almost 5 days to recover.

I was invited by someone who I wanted to socialise with. I went to a football match not specificly to watch Burnley.

Abbey if you think Ewood is noisy that's fine. I can tell you compared with Turf Moor yesterday it's like a morgue. What do I do? Same as always, shout, cheer, harangue the referee, the manager sometimes, clap. Basically whatever the emotions dictate.

If you're going to start another of your rants at me please feel free to do so. I won't be responding.

Socialise at Burnley?

No rant required and no true rovers fan would socialise on the turd.

Its the most embarassing admission this board has ever had.

So you do things silently , if you want to complain about the rovers fans try starting some chants and generate some noise.

Bit unfair that abbey. The chance to watch the League Champions fielding the likes of Aguero, Toure, Silva et al (and prob in the expectation that Burnley would get a spanking) is not to be ridiculed. Years ago in the early 90's I lived in Sabden and when the rovers were away occasionally went to Turf Moor with a BRFC supporting mate. We always went into the away side of the longsight and stood and cheered and conversed with the away fans. Bloody great craic it was too. You should try it.

tbh I was like a jinx cos I never saw Burnley win back then :tu: .

Gord I would not set foot on there even if Brazil played. I was told 2 years ago I had to go there on a team bonding bull day . Told the gaffers I wasnt going on as it was against my faith.

Id rather pull my finger nails out to be honest.

Abbey, if you had been growing up in the early sixties, you'd know that whole families, never mind individuals, commonly watched Rovers at home one week and Burnley the next. Fans from both towns. And no trouble.

Just one minor example of how much better life was then.

Surely you didn't miss 17/12/2000? Here... not great quality but a great memory that will never leave me.
