Givet is out of contract in summer.

Formica is doing well in Italy.

Best I think a bottom 6 team like Norwich would take him. maybe evenn WBA who will need 2 or 3 strikers in summer.

Robbo, Murphy and Etuhu will be the problem.

Sandomerski will sign at Rovers in summer. done well.

Kane, I can see if Bowyer stays on as manager next season signing him.

Jones is out of contract in summer and I thunk he will sign for us.

Kaz is enjoying playing for rovers.

Hopefully the new manager will pick the new players which I personally think will be Gary Bowyer.

dont think Shebby will be here as Global Advisor much longer. reckon move back to India to run the BRFC academy there

You truly are an optimist Chaddy.

Better teams than us will be on for Jones and Kane, and probably CKR.

I suspect it will come down to money. Will we have any?

I always try to keep optimistic and positive manner. sometimes very hard with Rovers  but I try to.

the money question is a good one but at the current time I really only focusing on Rovers staying up.

Hammer time: West Ham ready to swoop for Blackburn's £8m Jordan Rhodes[/size]http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/west-ham-transfer-news-blackburn-1832723

They will snap their hands off and I bet he wants to go. If we were a proper football club I'd be chuffed to get 8m then buy a couple of better players, but it'll get spent on shyte.

west ham will have pay at least 15 mil if we stay up for Rhodes.

cant see it personally.

WHU need a target man type of striker not just a goalscorer striker.

but tbh, not interested in next season and the playing staff till we are staying up.

massive 5 games ahead and we need Rhodes to score to keep us up. simple as

Priority nr.1 should we stay up is to get in a new manager. I know it might seem harsh on Bowyer if he manages to keep us up, but we desperatly need an experienced manager (with backroom staff) capable of navigating the transfer market on a shoestring budget. We need a total overhaul of our squad and I don't think Bowyer is the right man to do it. Give the new manager full authority over the squad and start rebuilding. Someone in the mould of McCarthy is what we need.

Then it will be up to Venkys to either sort out the boardroom chaos (i.e. get rid of Shaw, Agnew & Singh - hire someone knowledgeable) or do the sensible thing and sod off.

Won't get my hopes up though...this season is far from over.....

Where would we be without Rhodes goals?..this is what I fear in the close season, the exit of the last of our 'decent' players.

Not good.

I am mixed on Rhodes - I agree about his goals - but I think his inability to lead the line and lack of pace are one of the reasons we have struggled as a team at times. Playing him as a loan striker means that the opposition can push us back due to his lack of real pace - his inability to hold the ball up means many attacks do flounder. Having said all that - the quality of service to him has been poor - and I could see him doing better in a team playing better and with more confidence.

This is not a knee-jerk thread following a timely win but rather a look at what would become of Rovers - particularly the first team - even if we AVOID relegation and have a second season in the Championship...

Owners

With another bite at getting into the PL before the parachute payments run out, they'll likely stay. In some ways survival will serve to extend the pain rather than improve matters. Relegation is probably curtains but survival might mean the worst encore ever.

Manager

Will we get anyone other than Bowyer and is that a good or bad thing? He may have earned a chance (if we stay up) but time and time again it's experienced managers that occupy the top 6 spots - even without having a squad full of PL quality players. (Often the opposite in fact)

Players

OUTS - 22

Wantaways/Venkys Transfer Earners

Jordan Rhodes' agent - his stock is high and Rovers are not a team on the up. Can we afford his wages? Can we afford to lose his goals?

Dann - may have some stock in the Championship - high wages?

Martin Olsson - pop his eye back in and he's a good 'un - possibly PL (lower end)

Loans Ending

Kazim-Richards

Jones

Kane

Bentley

Stewart

Campbell

Rekik

High earners / Under performers

Etuhu

Best

Bad Eggs / Get Rid (Pay Off?!) / Leave to rot

Orr

Murphy

Dead wood / Old Legs / No Legs

Slew

Pedersen

Dunn

Forgotten Men / "Baggage"

Paul Robinson - injured and unwell after being "injured"

Givet - WTF?

Notable Loanees (out)

Rochina

Formica

Ribeiro

INS - 21 (First team and reserve squads)

First Team

Jake Kean - hopefully!

Lowe

Henley

Marcus Olsson

King

Williamson

Grant Hanley

Morris

Goodwillie

Sandomierski (Sub)

Portuguese Contingent

Nunes

Henrique

Rosado

Paolo Jorge

Edinho Junior

Gomes

Strictly Youngsters

Forrester

Raheem Hanley

O' Connell - York loan

Evans - Macclesfield loan

Edwards - Fleetwood loan

So we are 2 short (plus subs).

Dunn on a pay-as-you-play and various loanees and some of our Potugeezers? Possibly keep Pedersen and Etuhu for their experience. Possibly put all of our eggs into a "Keep Jordan" basket.

We are going to either have an opportunity to shed a lot of deadwood - especially on loan - or be desperately short! I still think we'll miss CKR and also Jones. Kane has done ok for his age.

An experienced manager is high on my wish list too.

You forgot about Hugo Fernandez there Stuart. Every time i read a reserve or Under 21 game or whatever it is, his name gets mentioned along with Raheem Hanley.

Yes. Rhodes has done more than could be expected of him, but the facts are that in almost every single game this season and last, we've not been able to dictate possession. Our opponents have virtually always dominated play. If we continue to play him on his own up front, we're not going to change that. If we play someone alongside him, we will be overrun in midfield. What we are getting is Rhodes scoring more than his fair share of goals, but as a team we are being overrun. Do we continue down this route?

I was under the impression we'd actually paid for him! Think you mean lone.

There is no point in making any plans or hopes while Venkys are still in charge. It doesn't matter who what where when, we are not going forward with this lot. I say this not in anger (or just in anger), but insanity is repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a different result.

But there is always the hope that completely by accident they will get it right eventually.

Law of averages, DMTP! :D

If those typing apes can come up with the complete works of Shakespeare, Venkys can surely get one decision correct.

Its a pity Balaji does'nt have a pet chimp, ask yourself where would Tarzan have been without Cheetah ?

Up a gum tree, thats where !

It was always pretty clear to me who had the brains in that outfit.

Good thread. Probably won't pan out like this but I'd like to see:

Must keep: Rhodes:

Try to bring In : Williamson, Jones, Kane.

Must bring back: Rochina

Shoot: Pedersen, Orr, Murphy

Out of contract, (thanks for everything) Dunn/Robinson.

Get rid: Marcus Olsson, Formica, Stewart, King, Campbell, Bentley, Rekik, CKR, Best, Goodwillie Gomes.

Would leave us with a core of fifteen or sixteen players

Sandomierski/Kean

Kane Henley Hanley Givet Dann Martin Olsson Morris

Williamson Lowe Etuhu Jones Nunes

Rochina Rhodes

...................A much lower wage bill but quite a bit of tweaking to be done. We'd need a specialist left back, maybe a creative midfielder, a couple of half decent wide players and at least one or two more forwards who can score at this level but the squad surely doesn't need to be anywhere near the size it is at the moment. Two players for each position should be more than adequate and hopefully one or two of the younger players and/ or Portugeezers might emerge..
