Neal Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Sam Gallagher 0 goals in 15 starts for MK Dons last season. They only deemed him good enough to play 534 minutes.
Ricky Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 As mentioned he did lose his father during this time so let's not be too harsh on him.
Lancaster Rover Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 pace is great, providing there is an end product. Academies up and down the country are chocked full of young lads who are rapid. There is a big difference in turning that into end product at championship level and beyond. We need good footballers, regardless of whether they're quick or not.
Neal Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 As mentioned he did lose his father during this time so let's not be too harsh on him. Jeez, fair enough.
Blue Cabbage Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Most ironic name for a goal keeper I've ever witnessed. Turd. Think he's comparable to Lowe. Been around a lot, played a fair few games, under 21 experience for the national side, but is in fact, awful. Dimi would be a great signing, given the 2 they've signed recently, surely available now...

RevidgeBlue Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Wouldn't disagree we need two full backs, some creativity in central midfield and another striker but why do we need another keeper? How many do we need? Or are people saying we need another first choice keeper to replace Steele? He's not great but replacing him isn't towards the top of list of priorities I wouldn't have thought.
Ricky Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 I think the view is that Steele isn't good enough to be first choice.
Iceman Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Any sane premier league club would not loan us any of their best young players. We would kill their careers Think he's comparable to Lowe. What a Low blow Yeah, we certainly killed off Rudy Gestede, Jordan Rhodes, Phil Jones, Chris Samba, Ryan Nelsen, Alan Shearer etc
Fraserkirky Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 We need to get back to the old fashion 4-4-2. We don't have the technical ability throughout the team to win with that 4-5-1 tactic, and Graham can not be insololated. Get Marshall back to right back. Evans and Byrne sitting in midfield. Play Feeney/Bennett right wing. Greer and Duffy in centre Defense. We badly need a left back and left winger! Gallagher would signal a move towards that, bring on the lummox's and lamp the ball into the box.

We need a first choice keeper to replace Steele. How many times do we need to see he's just not good enough? Yesterday you may as well not had him in the nets and just fielded another outfield player. Also a decent keeper could be the difference between us staying up and going down. We do need some full backs though, and a striker for cover. If Byrne could repeat yesterdays performance he should be in midfield.

Steele for me was a very odd signing , that probably lined somebodys pockets ...
the original david brent Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Tony Watt is looking very sharp for Hearts against Celtic - would have been a good player for us

Not seen the replay's - but watching live he was very exposed by the defence in front of him - and it didn't look like he could do much with their goals. Unlike Norwich's keeper he made a hash of our goal - and almost gave us another goal mis-handling a free kick.
davulsukur Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Are we still under the embargo? Just the self imposed Venkys one.

He made a hash of their third and was extremely lucky not to let another in at the start of the second half

Stuart Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 Just the self imposed Venkys one.We may as well still be under embargo for all the good that it did us.If an asset stripper had taken over the club they couldn't have scripted it better. Get yourself under embargo, forcing you to sell most of your talented players to get out. Keeping only the player that would have caused serious unrest. Then get out of embargo and bring in a credible manager on the back of false promises and get him to sell that player under the pretext that a proper manager could see the weaknesses and build a stronger team with the proceeds. Then, when that player is sold, drip enough money to just cover wages for some January loans/freebies and let on that we will rebuild on the Summer. Then stop talking to the manager forcing him to activate a mutual clause so that we don't owe him any compo. Then bring in another YesMan who will take the money to carry on the day-to-day running of the club whilst being able to wax lyrical about normal football constraints and excuses. Just think if we really did have asset strippers at the club. Could they have done a worse or faster job?

Unlike Norwich's keeper he made a hash of our goal - and almost gave us another goal mis-handling a free kick. He's not just bad at keeping the ball out of the net, he can't organize a defence and he seems very nervy. I've never seen such a quiet keeper possibly because he's still young for a goalie. There was one occasion where he allowed the ball to hit the post when he could have caught it. Also, am I wrong in saying that out of four proper shots they scored four goals and you'd at least expect him to get to one of them? Norwich's keeper made an actual save, Steele didn't. He almost dropped a very tame shot that came straight at him, made a right meal of it.
