[Archived] Fans Unite Under ‘We Are Rovers’ Banner

Recommended Posts

I hope it is time where fans will say enough is enough I'm not being submissive to this any longer. Recently we have had a handful of banners and sporadic chanting it needs stepping up.

And thats why i have stepped up. Ive tried talking. Im sick of being ignored or lied to. Enough is enough.

There is no satisfaction. If anything it's chaddy that is keeping this going. Even, insultingly, suggesting he has done as much as I have in terms of protesting.

The issue is not Chaddy though, it's fans in general who will not support the extremely easy 18/75 protest at the height of anti-Venkys feeling, and while there is finally momentum for change and collaboration of the main fans groups.

Chaddy is a representative of that group.

He posts on an Internet message board.

So do I.

I ask him questions.

Not sure what the shocking part is.

We have a chance to put old spats aside and unite behind protests at Ewood (not just post Venkys Out on the Internet). Or we could also unite by everyone doing nothing and showing no displeasure at matches (in case it upsets the boys). These are the two extremes. Whilst some one one and some want the other we don't have unity.

The proof of how representative chaddy and Parson will be answered at the Wolves match.

I've been pretty clear with this line. Happy to leave the discussion there.

Firstly, I am not a representative of any group full stop. I am a diehard Rovers fan end of story. So please stop making accusations that I am a representative of any group cos I am not.

secondly, please explaining what you have done in terms of protesting? lets hear all about what you have done then Stuart

Like me, I don't believe chaddy is a member of a group Stuart. We are simply supporters who go to games with friends. I don't think that makes a group.

correct, I go to watch Rovers with friends.

I will say again that I am not part of any group apart from being Rovers fans

I go to matches with a few friends. Chaddy also goes with friends. We are individuals not a group. Individuals make their own decisions rather than group decisions. You seem obsessed with what chaddy or I do as individuals. I don't belong to a group Stuart. Indeed, until yesterday I hadn't realised that BRFCS is regarded as a group.

I agree that Staurt seems obsessed by what either I or you do.

everyone Is entitled to make their own decision and what they decide to do. they shouldn't feel pressure from everyone or by any group

This is not about individuals but groups of individuals and their collective, combined choices.

Wolves at Ewood basically polling day. Those who go to the game (and don't abstain) will vote with their feet for one of two options. They are either WITH the 18/75 protest, or AGAINST it. There are only two groups on the night. No middle ground.

Apparently everyone wants Venkys out. Well, this is our opportunity to demonstrate that we mean it. Granted it's very unlikely that they will hand over the keys the day after but it will demonstrate to the club, and therefore to Venkys, just how many people really believe enough is enough. It will either galvanise future protests or kill them. In the eyes of the media and Joe Public, those people travelling to India will be representing all those people who walked out, and those people who come down to protest outside. Will they be representing a minority or a majority?

Much like the first WAR meeting, this is about unity, and certainly not about individuals. I'm surprised that any football fan sees him or herself as just an individual going to a football match. That goes against the whole concept of We Are Rovers.

Stuart, I have already said that I want Venkys out and my view was back up by Kamy.

I have also said that I think the protest will be india and attacking their name over there. I also hope Glen continue his efforts of gathering information on the owners.

Any new 'independent' owner would be very wise to give a wide berth to all these groups and individuals.

The whiff of power almost invariably results in its own whiff of stench!

A new competent executive management would be very aware of the need to form effective relationships with the whole supporter base but at an appropriate arm's length.

Do you mean something similar to the the old proletariat / bourgeoisie relationship, we are used to that...

I think he means you can't run a football club by committee, Forest tried it and it failed,

Strong committed leadership is what is required in the new dawn

As with most the protests Stuart numbers are key in the past Rovers fans have been generally submissive in what has been going on apart from the odd game like Bolton, when the whole ground seemed to erupt.

The 18 75 is a simple concept and easy to participate in, and a great chance for everyone to show the have had enough. If just hundreds do it you will have an Ewood Park with about 19,500 empty seats compared to the usual 20,000 and it will go largely unnoticed. It needs thousand to participate.

I hope it is time where fans will say enough is enough I'm not being submissive to this any longer. Recently we have had a handful of banners and sporadic chanting it needs stepping up.

Could not agree more.

As one of those six you speak of, I can assure you I have no interest in going to India. Public speaking? not my favourite thing to be honest, but I'm pretty good at the protesting....... I think

Thanks for coming on the night though the numbers where fantastic, you never know if 30 or 300 will turn up..... I hope this is an indicator that protests will be well attended.... Welcome to the board by the way, it will drive you to distraction some days, have you rolling in laughter on other and some days see you tempted to launch your laptop through the window.... a strangely addictive place though where all beleive it or not do share a common love.

I have been watching the site anonymously for a couple of years and really enjoy the "banter" im not technically minded so its took that long to work out how to post things(I kid you not)plus I don't have a computer so I have to wait until im at work, their computer their time ha ha.

I don't want to upset anybody I just feel we all need to be honest and start pulling in the same direction. It feels as if we are getting close and it would be a shame if petty squabbling messed it up.

Chaddy, chaddy, dear chaddy. You have spectacularly missed the point.

You are not a representative of a group (organisation), you are representative of a group (demographic).

Sometime 'a' is a very big word, it can turn an adjective into a noun, wield it carefully...

When you understand this, you would do well to read my posts again.

This...

For goodness sake lads agree to disagree please and let's all get on with the job in hand.

We Are Rovers!

Is not compatible with this...

It's got to happen big time now because if it doesn't.............

That's my point! A visible majority have to protest.

Because if we don't...

chaddy, at the end of the day you have your view, I have my view and Stuart has his view. Everyone on this forum has an opinion and a view and at the end of the day nobody is going to change their minds based on pressure from a forum. If you are happy with the decision you have made that's all that matters. Simply respect the decisions that others have made and move on.

Parson, are you of the opinion, as am I, that the majority of attending supporters (particularly at away games) have no idea regarding the revelations (including the most recent) and the general 'corruption' associated with the club over the past 6 years?

Correct.

Like I have said before alot of Rovers fans dont use social media or this website.

I have spoken to a couple of Rovers fans through work this week and they have never seen or heard anything about these leaked documents. Thats a big problem.

When I recieved these documents from Glen Mullan the other week I forwarded them onto my friends and family.

I have skimmed through the last few days and it is so utterly pathetic. So many here are so busy trying to score points, carry on grudges, try and say 'I told you so', 'my dad is bigger than your dad', or 'you are wrong and you love Venky's'. When we are close to uniting, this ship of fools decides to snipe, whinge and bitch against everyone else. It is hard to think that you are grown ups when this site is full of people trying to be the big man and put down those who have actually tried to do something.

You know what? We almost deserve Venky's. We deserve the clusterf__k that is going on because all the so called fans cannot put aside their petty grievances against the fellow keyboard warriors and fight the common enemy. If you Blackburn natives cannot even stop yourselves willy waving and work out a common strategy then you are damaging the club with your petty squabbles. And before you say 'well what have you done?', well I shall admit that I've not fitted in the hours boring my family and friends with links on facebook but I am not someone who likes to obsess over finding links and pursuing one course of action above everything. I have a life here in Coventry, and sadly I am disillusioned with football.,

If Stalin and Churchill can unite, then all the people here should be able to shut the eff up, focus on the task at hand and smash the true enemy.

Well I am. At the risk of repeating myself one week on, well not at the risk at all, I will; it's all very well everyone banging about it on here. It means nothing. The LT report nothing. Radio Lancs think "it's all a terrible shame". Savage has said something, Sutton too. Garns is backing the We Are Rovers campaign (Iwhere was the "The" Darren?! Then again "We Are Rovers (The)" would have brought its own problems - but perhaps a picture of Lemmy would have been more emotive than that ring). Other than that we're just a bad team. Lots of mistakes made, all very unfortunate.

The flyers should help, hopefully!

So so important.

What is the aim? Venkys out. Course it is. But what do we want them to do? In order to answer the question of the fan (we all know them) whose first response will be... "Oh yeah, great, and then what?" The aim of the 18/75 campaign should be, quite specifically, to try and "Persuade Venkys to put the club up for sale" It's a subtle difference.

It's a hearts and minds campaign, it has to be. Cause the vast majority of fans dont know what has gone on. "Click on this Drop Box link" - "Drop who?!"; you've immediately lost 60-70% of your target audience. "Look on Twitter, look on BRFCs" - "twatter?!? What the hell? BRFCs, I can't be doing with that, all that bickering, that bob bloke and that". "What about the article published in India on that website? Did you see it?" - "what article? Why wasn't it in the Telegraph if it's true?" Oh yes, sound familiar?

29 October. 10 games away. 4 home games. "It's ages off!?!!" Is it? Are we ready? Will we be ready? Shall we wear masks? (Really?!?) And it is WE. Whether your a member of The Action Group, The Fans Forum, The Rovers Trust, Post on BRFCS, a supporter of Glen, a friend of Ozz, SteB, Abbey and Paul, go home and away, are boycotting - whatever it is - I don't care. We are all Rovers fans.

I raise my hat to each and everyone who puts so much time into this. All of them. I just hope between everyone the messaging is right.

For if it is presented in the right manner, the right format, with the right amount of empathy and compassion (to those fans who, hey, might not be in the possession of the info you and I are), the facts that are out there - the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle that go a long way in explaining that our football club really is utterly broken; out of shape, skew whiff, off kilter (what's the bloody word I'm looking for?)

Then surely no one can complain and moan at "those bloody protesters, those bloody idiots with whistles" even if they themselves choose not to join in. For this is where we are and right now WE* are failing.

We'll not get everyone to join in. I'd be amazed if there was a thousand. All that can be done is get the facts out there. 4 home games, 4 different flyers, all building up to the 29th. Slightly different messaging every time... Build towards something.

I'm confident it's being worked on, just thought I'd put my twopenneth out there.

All in my opinion of course. And I appreciate my use of the word "we" * might grate when the best I can offer is attending a meeting last Thursday, a couple of hours on a post last Friday and now this.

A very good summary.

If not for this message board, I would have known very little and I didn't discover it until after the infamous Wigan game.

Leaflets with bullet point messages are a must. I agree with what Glen said to Savage. We are on our own with this...
