Is that a suggestion Iain Dowie is a possibility? I'm only asking because he moved in to my village three weeks ago, just five miles from Ewood.

Umm... Is Cotterill available?

Dad just told me David Lowe is taking over on a temporary basis with DJ as assistant, announced tomorrow morning, perhaps that's common knowledge, just catching up after work. Mate also told me he heard Curbishley has been at Ewood during the past week but may have been just because he's friends with Senior.

David Lowe struggled when he was the under 18's coach ! I'd like to think your having a laugh but I don't think you are with this lot running our club.

No Dowie was just commenting on the feelings around the club towards Venkys. I'm sure he's picked up what people really think in his short time up here. He's a regular in the Dressers now.

Thanks. Couple of other people have mentioned seeing him in The Dressers.

Dowie has got a 'proper' job now with these:

McCleish would take it and I'd take him on a contract till end of the year.

He'd be boring but we'd keep clean sheets

warbs Roweett won't touch it

I was going to reply to this earlier but didn't get chance. Wow, I was genuinely gobsmacked by that suggestion. If I did a least of all the managers I would least like to take over it'd read: Steve Kean, Juan Ali, Bryan Robson, Peter Taylor, Paul Jewell, Peter Reid, McLeish. Lol.

My only worry about Adkins would be that whilst he might be a relatively safe pair of hands medium to long term, he does seem to have rather a dull persona and I'm not sure if we need someone who could come and either inspire or frighten the life out of the players to get the instant improvement we need.

I hope he didn't design his house lol

I know he was well after the Rovers job years ago i think when Hughes got it. Seemed to do ok management wise once over then lost it, reading Simon Jordans book is interesting. Not just about Dowie but the bonkers stuff that goes on at a medium sized club.

Given the importance of Friday's game, you would have to assume someone is lined up. Has to be someone unemployed since Venkys would never pay compensation to another club, therefore its a fairly narrow field. In those circumstances Adkins is probably as good as it gets. Sherwood is an emotional choice but hasn't the experience to get us out of relegation imo.

Interesting that Gareth Ainsworth's name came up on Radio Lancs. He is doing a great job at Wycombe but, of course, is under contract. One for the future?

Especially if we are in Div 1!

Really I'm shocked that your gobsmacked? A proven and experienced coach available the next day with a stern reputation for building tight defenses. Sounds like the ideal steady safe pair of hands we need until we can asses this situation properly i.e end of the season. Seems to be the approach even Rangers might be taking given he is now being linked there.

Not bad records apart from Forest but we all know what happened there whilst he even managed the feat of qualifying for Europe with his stint in Genk as opposed to Adkins whom your championing last being sacked for being mid-table with Sheffield Utd so I can't understand how you'd be so gobsmacked unless you've got him mixed up with someone else? MacLeish's overall win ratio also appears slightly better too.

Personally with the position we're in I would be looking more at a McLeish type , yes he's dour and negative but we really need someone who can set the team up to keep clean sheets , we know we can score goals , we have that firepower , what we need now is to be extremely difficult to beat , not sure Adkins comes in to that category

I think he's certainly worth considering.

McLeish would keep us in the division, I am huge Hibs fan also, so I am a fan of the likes of Mowbray, McLeish, Stubbs. All three will have their applications in, I would think. McLeish has the experience and would be top of the pile for me.

I am fully prepared to get behind whoever is about take over this sinking ship. I would be intrigued by Adkins.

I haven't got him mixed up with anyone else at all. I'd actually argue that McLeish's record in England is pretty appalling, didn't he relegate Brum then get the sack from Villa before he did the same to them, followed by a pretty disastrous spell at Forest?

I've always thought a trained chimp could get results at places like Celtic/Rangers/Barca/Real where by and large they win every week. So I am not swayed by his record in Scotland. Ditto his spells in Belgium/Egypt if those a@#/?st the bigger Clubs there.

There's also a reason imo he's been forced to take successively smaller jobs. He isn't very good. That's not actually the word I'd use but I'm being polite.

Curbishlsy would have be a good choice 5 to 10 years ago. Always someone I lve liked over the years. Wanted him after Kidd left I did. Then after Ince left

Correct but not now he's been out the game way too long

Over the last week or so, I received two PM's from members of this MB about Coyle's position.  I advised that the gossip I heard on Sunday 12 Feb was that Coyle would be sacked on Monday 13 Feb and that two out of work managers had already been sounded out, both subsequently rebuffing Rovers; if this is correct then it may well explain why the sacking didn't happen last week and what appears to be the strange timing today given the proximity of the Burton game.  One can only assume that Rovers are now very close to appointing Coyle's replacement and all the smart money is on Adkins, however, it's worth bearing in mind that Warnock was seemingly also very close to being appointed before Coyle almost magically appeared on the scene.  Ironically, history could repeat itself as Cotterill's name has been whispered on a number of occasions over recent days.

The way Cotterill spoke on ssn you maybe right and we'd be shafted again
