A defensive midfielder and one of his weaknesses is tackling. And we have Mulgrew for two of his strengths. Sounds like another player from the non contact Academies.

I wonder how the likes of Tomlinson and Travis feel about this (if it's true).

According to, what is that, football manager?

A dcm/cm who is weak in the air and in tackling but favours longball aka hoofball.

Hmmmmm summat doesn't sit right here.

Based on what? A screenshot someone just took from football manager?

Do we not even watch players before running them into the ground now?

It's a football statistics website and I passed comment. So enlighten us then with your knowledge of him.

I would like to see some actual real life footage of him before forming an opinion, as opposed to basing my opinion on 1 page from a statistics website I know nothing about.

I think the moaners on here would complain if we signed Ronaldo. He's too old...

Hate crap like this. People have made valid points (ignoring the statistics website for a minute)

Why sign another player in a position we are well stocked in when we are so threadbare elsewhere?

Why sign a 20 year old with barely a dozen League games under his belt on loan?

How are these not fair points to make.

Davenport impressed when at burton in the later stages of last season. I wonder when our young lads will get a go though, Tomlinson and Travis must be rolling their eyes. Can he do anything they can't as defensive mid?

He is a free kick specialist but we arguably have one of them already. I'm always willing to give young lads a chance though but you have to imagine Mowbray doesn't have much confidence in travis or Tomlinson. Shame really.

The more competition the better. Why does it bother you how many good players we have competing for positions?

Running a young lad into the ground without seeing him play is hardly valid, but it seems its the go too reaction for a few on here.

You say why sign a 20 year old with a  dozen games under his belt? Well maybe becuase he is a good player. Have you seen him play?

I think Travis wil be in the squad next season, but is Tomlinson actually good enough for the championship? He looks good on the ball, but athletically I would have my doubts.

If we have too many players in positions where we are well stocked, that probably means less capacity to invest in areas, where we are obviously weaker.

I also worry about the impact on younger players of our own, whose progress might be blocked. by the Rekeem Harpers and Jack Byrnes of this world..

Even if you disagree, I think it is a mistake to keep defining reasonable criticism, as moaning etc

You say it probably does, but you have no idea really.

Just because Harper and Byrne didn't work out doesn't mean we have to be suspicious of every player we loan from the premiership. It's silly.

I didn't define reasonable criticism as moaning, I defined moaning as moaning. Show me the reasonable criticism? I saw posters running a young lad into the ground having never seen him play, based on a screenshot of some stats website.

Certainly is, he's 42! Don't give Waggott any ideas.

On a serious note it would be nice to be linked with or sign a player that is obviously going to go straight into the first eleven as opposed to being a squad filler or bench warmer. I would imagine that's the basis of most people's caution.

It is good in a way but as said by @Leonard Venkhater it takes resources away from other areas. We have no wingers bar Conway (who is past it). We also could do with a striker and maybe a right back.

Peoples queries in the main are in regards to the type of deal (loan) and the position he plays. They are fair, valid queries and to just say people are moaning is very ignorant to these points. People arent saying hes a crap player or that they wont give him a chance if he signs. (Big if)

He might be but ive told you my 2 main points of contention, none of which relate to him as a player.
