Interesting to see that Villa are now looking at BBD.

If they become front-runners we absolutely must bring Cameron Archer into the conversation. Every team in the league will be after loaning him, and selling them our top boy could give us the chance to gain a bit of leverage there.

£12mil plus archer and they can have him

The longer JpvH holds out on signing a new extension at Brighton the more likely it is he will come here on a permanent deal.

He wants game time, he's not the type of person to sit on the bench just because it's the prem, he loves football and wants to play and he knows he's loved here, Brighton really need to pull out the stops to convince him to sign an extension, not just play him in a few cup games.

If we do pull off JpvH perm and SvdB loan then our defence goes from one of the weakest looking to one of the strongest looking in a blink of an eye, its how quickly things can change in football, our chances this season would change drastically.

Even though it sounds like we have pulled away from the styles deal, if you add him into the mix for the lwb spot then our defence would be the best in the league.

A. Wharton and Jake garret to cover CM slots with Buckley, Morton and Travis

It's the top of the pitch that's a worry for me, we lack goals and if BBD leaves we may struggle to score many this season, hopefully a goalscorer comes in this window, a loan of Cameron archer or Lewis grabban on a fee (both?)

The rest of the squad looks healthy though, Dack, Dolan, Hedges, Smodicz are all very good players to have at this level

You had me at "if"

Let’s wait to see how the rest of the window pans out.

However unlikely it seems right now, several players might be lined up ready to sign.

Things can change very quickly in football and it’d be premature to make conclusive statements when the transfer window is still open.

I can't understand the level of complacency here. 8 left, we knew they would. We had months to prepare and we will be scrambling about in the final hours of the window hoping something falls our way.

You could not conclude the Club is gunning for promotion could you? That's one conclusive statement we can make!

If things do change very quickly, it still takes time for new players to bed in and we've already played 5 games.

We are as amateurish in recruitment as we have always been since Venkys rocked up---another conclusive statement.

We're all hoping for and needing a lot of movements into the club next week. The problem I have, is the championship in general hasn't done much business, and those who have done lots are signing shite.

As soon as these good players become available that we're after, there will be a queue, there will be bigger budgeted teams offering better terms than us. So whilst it's all well and good waiting for these quality players to become available, it means nowt if we don't actually sign any of them.

Someone should tell Waggott

Where is there any sign of Rovers preparing to make a success of this transfer window?

Can’t see why we would bother bringing in the new set up if we don’t have a plan to move forward and get better at identifying and signing players. Maybe Broughton has been fed a pack of lies( there is money available blah blah but we never said we’d give it you. Maybe we are playing a risky game of not signing x amount of players 4 or 5 weeks ago thus saving   Wages then going all out last few days of the window. The feel good factor seems to be diminishing somewhat. If we don’t back JDT with what he was promised I very much doubt he will stick around and we will plummet to new depths regarding future ticket sales. Let’s hope we are pleasantly surprised at the end of the window.

Vague as ever. You'll be satisfied and arguing all is well if we only sign 1-2.

How do you define 'quality'?

No matter who comes in you will be on here saying they are good additions and that nobody can question or criticise them until they have had a run in the team.

What was defined quality as in what players for example and what league. I think in terms of quality that can have a big impact in this league we are going to struggle with our wage budget.

Plenty of good quality players available within our budget. Down to Rovers to bring them in

You need to be prepared to be very disappointed.

Why? Cos you rather look at Rovers in half empty glass attitude instead of half full game attitude and approach.

You will continue to knock and criticise Rovers and the management team at every opportunity.

How do you think define quality? Player ability and your opinion of the players.

There has been plenty of good quality free agents that have been made available which he have bizzarley not gone for. Alot of them also have key experience not only at premier league level but this level. Yet we are holding out hope Liverpool will allow us a player to leave when there is no guarantee they will.

You have continually said quality players will come available later on and cheap which I agree. You have also said that not many other teams have done business. Therefore we will be in competition with those players to get these cheap decent signings and not be able to offer the wages or possibly transfer fee that others in this league can. That is my worry about leaving it last minute.

Just for clarity Chaddy, is that 4 or 5 more, or 4 or 5 total?

Are Brittain, Szmodics and Morton already included in your count? And would your number change if Brereton goes?

I think we need 3 or 4 defenders, a midfielder and a centre forward on top of what we already have. That’s without losing Brereton.
