I've been away all week so only just catching up on goings on.

Thenodrog 😀

Surprised that forum isn't called lancashireunitedfans

In fact, I've just searched the term and he's still on about it now like he was on here back in 2005. The only way this football club can survive long term is if we merge with Burnley and Preston. 🙄

Yes, merging with the Dingles is the answer, not getting rid of these owners, who are now seemingly benevolent ones we should doff our caps to.

‘Eeees better, eeees cheaper’, indeed.

I didn’t even know that group existed tbf. Had a quick nose this morning and obviously the first thing I did was search my name. I actually come out of it ok lol. I did have some decent debates with Drog and hoped I’d never over stepped the line as a mod as I always tried to be fair. He seems to feel the same. I’m not saying I always got it right as no mod ever will. You have to make judgement calls that will in no doubt upset someone.

I’m not a huge poster on here anymore but I’ve been around for a long time. Pretty sure Grooby was the first person to make me a mod back in the late 90s. I’m sure it was when I was still at uni but could be wrong.

I have no bad feelings towards anyone over there. I’ll have a nose through the posts as I enjoy reading rovers related content even if I don’t post a lot.

Are we ruling Mercers info on a potential bidder as either false or that they have been told “no - not for sale” (the latter seems to be the common case), given we’ve just spent a few million in the January window (something we never do)

I had no idea the other Messageboard existed! It's a shame that posters over there don't feel comfortable posting their different views over here. I think we need to ensure that we are respectful of other views. I wonder whether sometimes people mistake someone disagreeing with them in a measured polite way as being offensive because they don't like being questioned, but personal insults etc are not really acceptable. I am concerned at how divided the fanbase is as this greatly reduces the impact of any protests and I obviously feel we need to do everything we can to rid ourselves of these horrendous owners. I do understand the opposing view and respect it though. I can see where they are coming from that they pay the bills etc but I just feel we are eroding as a club under their neglectful (albeit they do the bare minimum) ownership and I cannot see this trend being reversed whilst they are in charge. You only have to attend Ewood and witness the general malaise of the fans and the progressive dereliction of the facilities to see this. I read a post over there about fans being 'entitled' who want the owners out....this might be the case for some, but personally I would take a relatively poor owner who is engaged and L2 football than the current footballing purgatory we find ourselves in. If wanting owners who care and the return of a passionate fanbase regardless of the league we are in is entitled then I'm guilty. The other fairly annoying comment I read was about members on this Messageboard being 'lefty liberals' and not allowing free speech. I wonder how welcomed my comments would be if I signed up and defended migrants in the 'migrant watch' thread. Free speech works both ways.

The two apparent founders of that board were two of the most personally abusive posters we had over here.

I was trying to be civil and a shade light hearted with you. Shame you couldn't return the courtesy.

I've replied on the other site and also sent a lengthy reply to your esteemed leader who I consider a friend but with whom I frequently disagree on Rovers related matters.

It seems my posts are subject to moderator approval and I don't know if this is the same for every post but in case it's like North Korea on there and censorship wins the day, Ill reply on here as well.

I fear you're being a tad pedantic, but go on I'll bite and rephrase the question:

If you're NOT happy as you claim above, why do you oppose calls for a boycott of ONE GAME which won't unduly affect finances as season ticket revenue is already banked?

I asked you to point out exactly what you believe I'm happy with. Where have I said I'm happy with what is going on? My stance is that the Venky's are dreadful operators, but they are plugging the financial gaps (of their own making), and you would be hard-pressed to find other owners who would do more, let alone the same. Just my opinion.

And you get into a... what was the phrase... hissy fit? Calm yourself down. It's just opinions.

The thing is, the above is my opinion. I'm expecting a barrage of backlash, or some total nonsense from @RevidgeBlue that I'm not courteous. I don't get him at all. Or how he concludes that I'm happy. And it just reasserts my give-uppance that there are a number who turn a non-extreme view of the club, one way or the other, into something that it's not. And that's why it's pointless discussing it because my opinion ends up with some twisted reputation into something that it's not.

Ah well. C'est la vie dans le internet!

Why do basically every other set of owners who take over teams plug the financial gaps that owning a football club in this country cause?

Many clubs have fallen by the wayside because their owners simply stop their financial obligations. Bolton. Wigan. Sheff Wed. Oldham. I'm sure there are other examples.

If the Venky's left, I think the fan base would be united again, but it really depends on who the new owners are. If it happens, it happens, and we all go for the ride. But I would wager the next owners will have nowhere near the financial clout that the current owners have. 🤷‍♂️

Many clubs in this league have owners with less financial clout but do ok.

Billionaire owners are the necessity in this division they are cracked up to be, it only makes a difference if money is used correctly by the right people.

Less can be more.

Fair enough, but if you think they are "dreadful operators", what's your objection to a call for a boycott for ONE GAME?

It’s great having Billionaire Owners - but when they’re hampered by court cases of their own negligent makings & refuse to use their money when we have leeway on FFP to take progressive strides forward what is the point?

Our squad is tinpot

our pitch is tinpot

our ground is grubby

our manager is tinpot

our board are tinpot

where have these billionaires added value above the absolute minimum required?

You are naming clubs who briefly had owners unwilling to cover costs who were then replaced by ones that did. And even then, thats a minority of teams.

Venkys havent shown their "financial clout." Covering the losses they have isnt as a result of them constantly pumping loads in, its the bare minimum.

The only reason all those things are so tinpot is because the owners themselves are so tinpot.

This club was, is and always will be too big for them. All they've done since day one is try to drag us down to their low level.

End of the day we either carry on with this slow, but ever continuing, slide into the lower divisions (with a rotted infrastructure to match) or we get a new owner, who, yes, may be Chansari-esque, or they may grab this club by its bootstraps and give it a go.

This isn’t 2010, the game has grown exponentially since and potential owners are falling over themselves to get involved (particularly for Championship clubs - so of course this lot are doing all they can to torpedo that sweet spot in the football pyramid).

*obviously it’s all moot as they’ve no intention of selling and it’s scenario 1.

I think it's really hard to discuss on the other forum because whenever I've asked a question it's been avoided.

Everyone on there is saying why don't I go find an owner to buy Rovers?

Like come on, I don't think there's an understanding on workings at Rovers and myself not involved in football finding a buyer.

I'd say they're way way more offensive there than on here.

Drog personally attacked me when I wasn't being personal.

You’ve argue your point and then answered it yourself, pretty much like most of us pal.
