That Riis is ok, 12 goals isn't a bad return for a side like Preston this season. Good age and played a lot of minutes this season.

I don't imagine he would be someone on our radar though.

Personally I think he's probably better than all them.

Vale should be released.

Leonard needs a good loan and league below if possible.

Gueye should only be a last resort option as something to hit in the box when losing, so 3rd choice starter at best.

Danny ings released by West Ham, think he is a drop into the champ standard these days although at 32 he has a good few years yet, played for our ugly neighbours but I’d let it slide

Nah he's tainted. Don't want none of it

You watch him come on for West Ham this season and he looks a shadow of the player of just 2 years ago. Even without the bastard baggage, I’m not sure how much is left to justify the huge wage it would take.

Signing premier league players at the end of their careers usually turns into an expensive mistake. Not worth it imo. Id rather sign a player at that age who has performed at Championship level like we did with Baath. They know what it takes and are likely to be motivated rather than playing like they are disappointed to drop down a division.

Preston letting players know via instagram that they are being released

Probably shouldn't laugh at them being a shambles too soon, or it will turn out Rovers will use blind carrier pigeons (or random news articles from Elliott Jackson) to attempt to let our guys know

According to someone in their forum, so it may well be nonsense, Rovers interested in him,

Wasn't Best meant to be one of their best young players coming through?

emil riis expected to leave preston as his contract is up,while he`s not been the same player since his bad injury,he definately is worth picking up for free

12 goals for a team that almost went down

has been released, as has Woodman

personally I'm not huge fan of either of them

Isn't it more of the case that Riis and Woodman told they wouldn't be signing new contracts there and those two players will be a big miss for them.

I'm not even confident that we will get the likes of Hedges or Batth done, never mind anyone else.

Clear as day that the regime is ensuring that we lose Tronstad, Travis, Brittain, Hyam and Carter, either on free transfers next year or sold at an undervalue this summer. All thanks to refusing to even discuss new improved terms.

But even if you want to defend the regime and believe that those deals are 'difficult' ones due to cost or contract length (just another excuse, there should be nothing easier than sorting that lot out after their performances this season), the easiest of easy should be securing Hedges and Batth (assuming Ismael is being truthful that he wants to keep them).

But I think time here is as much an issue as cost. We will not be proactive, we never are, reptiles like Waggott will be working out that thousands of pounds can be saved by allowing their current deals to expire and then offer them new terms the week before next season starts if they haven't got another club and hope they just accept whatever it is we are offering.

Trouble is that a lot will simply find other clubs willing to take them.

No thanks, high wages and coming to the end of his career.

I was under the impression that they rated him but he had a shocker of a season, including only making one appearance in a half season loan in Ireland before being dropped

It looks as though injury may have played a part in that, but he was also not favoured for minutes when he was at Preston either

He did play a fair amount (by comparison) the season before.  Without knowing too much about what happened, maybe it ws just a case of him having a similar break out season, and then regression/finding his level that Adam Henley had?   (how is he only 30?  It seems like a lifetime ago)

Just throwing it out there, anyone think Paul Mullin could do a job for us at this level with him being out of favour at Wrexham?

Nah. Top League 2 striker but no better than that. See how badly Langstaff has bombed at Millwall for proof.

I don't know much about Riis, other than he previously played for Randers who I once managed on Football Manager. Think I sold him actually 😂.

Does he suit Ismael's style more than the likes of Gueye? If so then it's a no brainer given his age as well.

Another loan wouldn't be surprising though.

unfortunately you may be right there

If that was to be the case, then the only "silver lining" I could think of is that following Luton's relegation, his wages would be about half the amount that they were this season

Still a waste of a squad place and a wage though, so scant consolation indeed
