Can someone explain to me in simple terms why we are always the preferred club for youth loanee players without game time or experienced players with no other options - but never the preferred option for established young ambitious players pushing for a first team place at their parent club or players with more than one option?

Mannsverk ought to be above us, and I don't think it's a coincidence the link appeared just after LT reported we haven't even offered deals for Trav/Tron/Brit.

Frankly, I will only believe it if we actually sign him, otherwise it is usual club PR of "look we're trying we swear".

I think it goes something like this.

RING RING....RING RING....  ☎️

β—‹"Hello this is Ajax speaking"

●"Oh hello this is Blackburn Rovers, is erm.... is Mr Maansverk there?"

β—‹"He's out at the moment, can we get him to give you a call back?"

●"Aye,Β  Please cocker"Β

HANGS UP.

RING RING....RING RING.... ☎️

β—‹"Hello Lancashire Evening Telehraph"

●"Oh Hello its Blackburn Rovers, I just spoke to Ajax about Maansverk but he wasn't in"

β—‹"OK we shall let the masses know"

●"Could you make it sound convincing please"

β—‹"Not a problem sir"

The comment by frostbite adds weight to the assumption we recruit via football manager……

Unironically though, as SI's database was used by a number of top clubs via scouting and stat platforms like Prozone. Not sure if it's still the case though.Β

Yeah but they're too cheap to get this season's version so they're still on the 22/23 version of the gameΒ

It's also two years out of date...

Firmino was genuinely founded by Hoffenheim (?) through football manager.

Ajax bought Mannsverk for around Β£5.8m so will probably want 2-2.5m on a failed transfer? I think he'd be a really good signing but also worried that is it for Travis. I wouldn't mind a midfield pairing of Tronstad and Mannsverk though, to be honest.

Sounds like Mannsverk would be coming as a Tronstad replacement.Β

No idea if he's any good but it's a risky move letting Tronstad go, he's a key component in our starting 11.

Seems mad that we'd spend good money on tweaking centre mid, arguably out strongest position with Trav and Tronstad, when the right wing is in dire need of an upgrade.

They simply do not want to renew either contract, as they didn't want to renew Dolan's.

It's not about it being "right for both parties", they don't want these players at the club, period.

Yes.The quality of the player means zero. Its all about them costing too much!

This has quite easily been the most pathetic summer transfer window of any in my lifetime.Β

It just seems normal to me now.

Yeah, just read that he played 14 games for Cardiff last season after joining them on loan in January. Can't say I remember him. Anyone recollect anything memorable about his time there other than being in a relegated team?

Tronstadt has been with us for two years and yet most Championship fans know nothing about him. Cos he’s not flashy and doesn’t garner β€˜stats’ he flies under the general fans radar.

We just cannot entertain losing Travis, Tronstad or Brittain in addition to those who have already left.

Every new player deserves a fair chance in a Rovers shirt before being fully judged, but the signings we've made and the latest rumours are a bit of a concern!

Based on 24/25 stats:

Signed: Sidnei Tavares 33 appearances, 1 assist & 1 goal playing in the Portuguese top division with a club finishing 10th of 18.

Signed: Dion De Neve 32 appearances, 3 assists & 2 goals playing in the Belgian top division with KV Kortrijk who were relegated finishing 15th of 16.

Rumoured: Marwan Al-Sahafi 28 appearances, 1 assist & 6 goals playing in the Belgian top division with Beerschot who were relegated finishing 16th of 16.

Rumoured: Sivert Mannsverk 20 appearances, 1 assist & 0 goals playing first two games of the season for Ajax before moving on loan to Cardiff who were relegated finishing bottom of the Championship. Coincidentally that one assist was for the opening goal in our 2-1 loss to Cardiff!

Hard to be positive at the moment.

If this Mannsverk dude is any cop whatsoever he'll be an upgrade on Tronstad BUT if his Club rate him at around Β£3m I've little doubt it'll be the usual stand off situation with us bidding around half that and then screaming and stamping our feet about how unfair it is the parent Club won't even entertain the bid.

Whilst Travis Tronstad and Brittain sail serenely out of the door to get away from the madhouse.

Notice also that Jackson has done another puff piece for the Club saying basically there's no reason for concern because we struggle to get players in early every year so this is nothing new.

Great logic Elliott.

The LT must have had their knuckles rapped by the Club at some point last season, they really are in full on PR mode.

We have been slavering over center midfielders all summer, so I assume Tronstad has said he isn’t signing a new contract and there is interest, and probably a while ago.

i don’t want to spend the whole summer in a CM tit for tat.

We need a RW and CB asap. Probably a striker too, although have a funny feeling Tyjon will be getting a proper go in preseason.
Get bloody on with it.

Not seen the β€˜puff piece’ but seen another article of his on lack of contract negotiation for key players that basically slags the club off.Β

"If hes any cop whatsoever." So not even Tronstad is overrated now, hes literally no cop whatsover.

Has to be a mixture of stubbornness and I think a bias because he hated Broughton so much that he cant possibly just admit that it was a very good bit of business.

More likely a Travis replacement if he goes. Would be a really inspired signing, which makes it unlikely. He'd be a top Championship midfielder, with a high ceiling. Great competitor with a good engine, great passer and can travel with the ball as well. If the club is really trying for him you'd fear that Travis is being sold as it probably given they have already added Tavares to the midfield. You'd also think the club would need Travis of the books for wages as Mannsverk would not be a budget signing coming from a high profile transfer to Ajax.

If we are able to sign him it would be quite a coup and probably raise a few eyebrows here in Norway. The feeling is he is too good for a mid-table Championship side.Β
