I think we need the following, in this order assuming no sales of key players:

1) RW - Dolan replacement / better than Hedges (easy to find as both are average)

2) CB - We need one more. Carter is made of glass and Wharton early back from a long injury.

3) CM - Trav, Sonny, Tavares, +1

Fwiw - I donโ€™t think we need another striker. I would be really inclined to put my trust in Yuki and big Mak who I think will get better after a year in the league and a full preseason.

ย

Still think to cover an injury or just lack of form we would need another striker it could be one of those that itโ€™s not a main priority yet and could b something they look at again in Janย

Definitely need another striker, especially if Leonard isnโ€™t considered up to it or loaned out.

Not sure Big Mak fits the style we are looking at tbh.

Probably need to be looking for a hardworking striker with a bit of pace, who can press the centre backs quicker.ย

At this stage of his career, due to his past injuries, I think Leonard needs to go on loan at a club that will guarantee him games each week - even if that is as low as League Two or the National League. He's too far behind Ohashi and Gueye at the moment to be getting regular 90 minutes.

He doesn't need to go out and prove anything, as we know he's capable of playing in the Championship, but he just needs constant games and momentum. Getting quite a few goals would be a bonus in my view just for his confidence.

Surprised no stories about Brittain- pleasantly surprised.

Here's hoping Pape, Ohashi, Leonard and Tyjon all kick on this season as I cannot see the piggy bank stretching to a decent forward even if one or more of Brittain, Tronstad and Travis depart.

What has happened to Vale?

Nixon absolutely determined to sell Tyjon for us.

How is Nicko doing that? His story today is that England are interested in him playing for our national teams. Arsenal interested in him is no surprises given his qualities at his age but Ismael and Rovers want him to stay here. Ismael spent over a minute yesterday post match talking to him about his performance.ย

Bamford has been told to find a new club, 30+, final year of his contract, it's the type of situation that would see our ears prick up (obviously the wages not so much). Wouldn't be surprised if you spot some ITK's banding his name about saying we're working on a deal blah blah blah in the coming weeks.....

Doesn't suit our style one bit.ย

Could see him at Derby or Wrexham.ย

Isnโ€™t Forshaw considered CM? Tronstad, Trav, Tavares and Forshaw?ย
ย

it will be exciting to see what happens with Buckley. Always held him high in regard and thought he would establish himself, but time is running out.ย

Hedges got in some good positions yesterday and played the right pass to Brittain for his assist. He played a great weight pass for Ohashi's winner at Luton last season. Plus he has been regular under the previous 2 head coaches and Ismael wanted him to stay this season.ย

we were short in midfield last season cos when injuries hit and we lost Baker aswell, we were short. We need 5 options in there and right now we have this

Still need in terms of players in, right sided attacking player, another forward and centre back. if we made those 3 signings, we have 25/26 man squad

Disagree. We might have 5 centre midfielders but the quality once you move past Travis and Tronstad is very questionable. I can live with Forshaw as 5th choice but Buckley needs to be sold. He's not a VI type player - sell him and bring one more in.

It's not really a noteworthy story worth 'reporting' is it.

Canโ€™t see many takers for Buckley to be honest. He has lost his way a bit. He is a great passer, but a bit too lazy.ย

cant see any takers above lower end league one

ย

Failed on his loan at Sheffield Weds

not fancied by any of last 3 managers reallyย

always a liability and a booking waiting to happenย

Agree. Buckley has been given his chance but needs to be moved on.

Litherland was given 20 mins yesterday but wasn't in squad v Accy Stanley. Eustace used him on the bench but don't think he came on. Must be frustrating for a player not getting game time.ย

And in Toth gets injured? I'd rather have Pears on the bench than turn to the u21 keepers. Or have Pears available for transfer by being fit and someone else brought in.ย

Nixon reporting this morning that Wharton stays with Palace, so no sell on for Pasha to look forward to yet.ย

Obviously that's not going to happen and you can't take comments as literal mate. Pears will be back but im implying in an ideal world we don't have to depend on him because he's proven he isn't good enough. We obviously need a decent gk and a decent back upย

If they loan Leonard out then it means theyโ€™re ย probably looking for another. I also think thereโ€™s a chance that Big Mak is less suited to VIโ€™s way of playing tooโ€ฆ

But, I would prefer to spend the money elsewhere. I think Yuki and Big Mak are both capable of getting double figures this season and 20-30 goals between them is solid. We only play one striker so we could back those two up with Leonard who needs an injury free, breakthrough season.

Midfield is a problem and an even bigger problem shouldย  Travis and/or Tronstad leave.

Forshaw - no better than a 10/15 minute sub.ย  ย Bet he can't believe his luck when a then desperate Rovers signed him again.

Tavares - unproven and his track record at his last club far from convincing.

Buckley - a stroller, not Championship level and Ismael's type of player.

Montgomeryย  - do not understand the hype about this lad who last season was playing for Marine and Chorley.ย  Seen nothing to suggest he can be an answer in midfield.ย  He can run, so what?

The trouble with players of that age is you can โ€œ go โ€œ at any time. I remember reading an autobiography by a famous England player. He said he was playing great in the Home Internationals that used to be played towards the end of the season but when he returned for training at his club in late July he could feel heโ€™d lost a yard of pace. ย Instead of gathering the ball in his stride he felt he was reaching for the ball all the time.

Baath could be great for them next season or he could be struggling. Same would apply if heโ€™d signed for us. Itโ€™s a gamble against time. And ย โ€œ time waits for no man. โ€œ
