I think if you are familiar with his interviews at Brum and now Derby he sounds pretty much the same though, it's just his manner. Some come across as wooden, some are more relaxed because they've seen and done it a thousand times, i'd put VI in that category. Some light up the screen - JDT, some go off on pure waffle - TM and some are pure Starmer = Kean ! Eustace read from a script in his interviews. Had a message he wanted to get across and wasn't really giving you anything else. I bet he's a completely different character behind closed doors. 3 Quote

I didn't and don't presume anything with this lot (actually I do -incomptence). I certainly do think they should have a net spend, within reason, like many clubs. Speculate to accumulate and all that which has been discussed plenty of times on these boards.Β I was just thinking that given expenditure is most likely to be cut again, that any possible incoming would require sales of player assets. Although I take Kent exile's point. If I need to take some sort of 'side' here, then I am certainly in the camp that thinks matters on the field will not be improved by summer activity. aletheia Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) The board, the manager and Gestede are on the same pageβ¦ (accepting we have a functioning board)β¦ Well yes indeed, record of failure, incompetence, ability to be economical with the truth with a smirk, ability to accept a new orthodoxy at the drop of a hat (itβs now cost cutting masquerading as promoting youth), ability to promote a narrative on social media and elsewhere that Stalin would be proud of, and some would say connections with an agency similar to Keane. KentExile Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) We actually have 25 players who would need to be registered if Ismael was planning to use them this season Β K - Toth, Pears, Barrett CB - Hyam, McLoughlin, Carter, Wharton, Pratt LB - Ribeiro, Pickering RB - Brittain, Alebiosu M - Travis, Tronstad, Cantwell, Tavares, Forshaw, Buckley, Garrett W - De Neve, Kargbo, Hedges S - Gueye, Ohashi, Leonard Β Β Montgomery, Tyjon, Goddard & Michalski (and indeed any current player from the U21s not mentioned above) do not need to be registered due to their ageΒ It would seem from Ismael's comments that Pears & Buckley are on their way out, Garrett is injured in the medium to long term so probably won't be registered for the first half of the season (and will probably be loaned out in January anyway), it is unlikely that Pratt will be registered (I think he will be loaned out), which brings us down to 21. With Pears on his way Barrett may possibly be included (as 3rd choice keeper) to allow Michaleski & Goddard to get loan moves, so we are on either 20 or 21 Miller will replace Brittain, so still 20/21 Henriksson makes it 21/22, and also will take up our 4th & final esc slot Β Takeaways So assuming no more players leave, we could technically bring in anything up to either 3 or 4 more (including loans) in, after the 2 sign today I assume one of those potential 3/4 will be another goalkeeper to sit on the bench Obviously any further outgoings from the above 25 (Travis? maybe due to his "contract situation") each free up a further space in the squad.Β Β It would probably be beneficial for Leonard to be loaned out when fit, which would free up an extra space in the 25 Offloading Mafoumbi would free up an esc slot for another esc signing this summer (Baradji?) (no idea if this is the plan, just a possibility) In January, Toth & Kargbo should have played enough games to convert them to standard work permits which would free up 2 more esc slots Edited 3 hours ago by KentExile 7 Quote

Was it not Gestede who said we couldn't start negotiations on new deals last season because we wouldn't know what division we would be in this season? Ultimately the blame lays with the owners but why was it that Broughton could get new deals done when Waggott was here? I do not believe for one second that any manager including Ismael would be behind Gestedes and the clubs stance that we had to wait to know what division we are in before we could start serious contract talksΒ 6 Quote

Angry_Pirate Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) Losing Brittain is less than ideal, but I do like the idea of adding an Australian (and Americans) to the squad, brings back comforting memories of better days with the likes of Neill, Emerton, Filan, and Friedel.Β Partly whely I've always been on the Gabriel Slonina bandwagon from Chelsea as a GK option.
