I would've go that far. Not saying the Swedish players we've had have all been terrible. But if I was to name a 50 strong squad of my all time favourite players, I very much doubt there'd be a swede anywhere near it.

Not even the Olsen twins??

So tonight Boro are stronger, Rovers are weaker and Venkys are a permanent disaster.

Possibly, yes.

I like to watch players play before I judge them though.

This Swedish lad, if we get him sorted, seems a bit of a character too - like Miller.

I wouldn't be too worried about losing voices in the squad if he comes in too. Seems a bit of a Savage dickhead (love him when he plays for you, hate him when he plays against you).

Or perhaps he is highly rated and Ismael wants to develop that talent cos he that highly rated.Β

So to clarify, everything that happens this summer is because it is exactly what Ismael wanted?

If we replace a senior 2nd choice goalkeeper not with a replacement but with an 18 year old untested keeper. Then we are asking for trouble.

Read some funny stuff about him. Sounds a character and a shithouse. Love thoseΒ

The important question is: Have we improved our second choice keeper ? I think we have.

I dont rate Pears but I would still prefer him on the bench to a kid.

I think it would be a cost issue, the bench sitting keeper probably only plays in parts of a couple of league games per season. Why have an expensive player filling that role, when you can use a cheap youngster

Talking of incomings, have I missed the recruitment of a CEO?

It's me, this is the official announcement. First order of business is my resignation after I looked at the budget.Β

If Toth spends any period of time out, then you are really dropping a novice in it. You dont need an expensive player but you need senior cover.

And if Toth doesn't have a period of time out, money has been wasted. We don't seem to be in a position to waste money.

We seriously need reinforcements in attack. No mention of a striker whatsoever.

If we sign Baradji (a big if I feel) and a right winger I'm hoping we can get a striker in either on loan or a wildcard permanent addition such as Pululu (pie in the sky I know)

I know we don't do preemptive (in fact, I'd argue we didn't send any money for Miller till Brittain money was 110% in the bank) but could Miller be the Carter replacement?

I agree with that. However, our next rumoured incoming is Swedish, and we've had far less success with players from that part of the world.

Anders Andersson: bought for Β£1m back in 1997. I think he played a half-dozen games and scored once vs Preston in the cup. πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

Speaking of Scandinavian players. Per Pedersen πŸ‡©πŸ‡° for Β£2.5m was one of those signings that really were part of the catalyst to the fall from grace.

Donis, Davidson, Dahlin, Valery and (Tore & Per) Pedersen were all pretty woeful arrivals in the 12 months following Alan Shearer's departure... only StΓ©phane Henchoz was a successful signing in 2 years. No wonder we quickly fell off a cliff.

This window has reminded me a bit of early Hughes - prioritising players who are physical, can get stuck in, bit of fire... The Savages, Mokoenas etc.
