Trinidad Rover Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago ZERO chance we spend anything more than 1m on a player. Likely ever again.Β A marquee signing would also require marquee wages. That is also not happening.Β 2 1 Quote

Especially when you consider the profile of the fullbacks. On the left side we have two solid βstay at homeβ type full backs, so a De Neve, more defensive LwB makes sense. Meanwhile, on the right, both Alebiosu and seemingly Miller will bomb forwards and create the width meaning the Right sided attacker can invert and create an overload in between the lines. Having listened to Elliotβs podcast this morning, he tipped Tavares to be the signing of the season based on what he had seen briefly in Spain. Also confirmed fee was 1.5-2m. Thinking about that, I do think Baradji is being lined up as Travβs replacement. Weβll finish up with Sonny, Tavares, Baradji, Montgomery and Forshaw for those two positions. Β Surely not. For all the written down changes in formation, and talk about "creating overloads" and moving "in between the lines" we would still be desperately short of attacking threat with a player who has mainly played left back at his previous club on one side and a central midfielder on the other. I still think that we will sign a right winger, whether he will be any good is another question. Doesnt have to be an out and out old fashioned winger, but we need someone who can give us an extra goal threat and ideally some pace and directness, rather than shoehorning in a central midfielder. I am not sure what the exact plan will be for Henriksson. He is a midfielder who seemingly offers a goal threat so maybe cover for Cantwell, but also seems to be someone who gets stuck in so maybe an alternative to Baradji and either eventual or immediate replacement for Travis. Either way, signing a central midfielder to play on the right seems a bit of a stretch. 1 Quote

Neal Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Imagine they'll be asking for about 4 million for Travis, being club captain etc... Eustace will be pushing their board to do it but they won't be as keen as they'll probably get him for free in a year.Β 1 Quote

Β Helps when you can't afford/refuse to pay for an actual proper winger I suppose. If they manage to offload Travis and bring in Baradji that would surely be close to Suhail's dream window in terms of replacing the higher wage earners and bringing in cheaper ones. Β 1 Quote

Lancaster Rover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The Scottish side of my family are split between Celtic and the Hibees, they speak very highly of Miller and one of my uncles (Hibs) who takes an interest in Rovers says he has a modern Lucas Neill feel about him. Aggressive, physical and likes getting forward. 1 Quote

Hes not a winger, which confused me originally, but he is a perfect inverted forward. 33 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: Β Surely not. Iβm just piecing together the thinking in these signings against the way VI wants to play. Its just my opinion. Quote

Rover down South Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Surely we will bolster the squad with loans once we have finalised this lad from Sweden. Historically we have utilised loaning. Might have missed a few but: 21/22 - Van Hecke, Zeefuik, Clarkson, Khadra & Poveda 22/23 - Morton, Thomas, Hirst & Mola 23/24 - Hill, Koumetio, Ayari, Moran & Chrisene 24/25 - Sanderson, Beck, Baker, Cozier-Duberry, Dennis & Woodrow You would guess from above we would bring in four loan players? Brighton & Liverpool usually our first port of call, any names likely? Quote

Most loans (especially the cheaper ones for clubs with no money to pay huge loan fees) happen at the end of the window once the parent clubs have run out of more lucrative options of where to send their players Quote
