Can't pretend I'm happy with the amount of changes we've made, we're a completely new side and I'm uncomfortable. Yet, the one position I think we're still crying out for is an out and out specialist time served card carrying striker. We'll never see the likes of Shearer ever again but at least something to get the pulse racing a little bit. Please, no more centre backs, full backs, mids, wings or any other ruddy position just spend a nice fat big fee on a marquee hit man to keep me sane.

Fully expect Buckley and probably Garrett to leave permanently, with the likes of Duru and Batty to go out on loan. Will likely be a question of which of the other academy grads they believe are good enough to play out of Pratt? Edmondson? Mularkey Matthews? Let’s see.

Also - I personally like the idea of Myoshi, who would be a great addition, but I just don’t see it, unless it’s much cheaper than £2m. We wouldn’t drop that money on a 28yr old with no resell potential. I have no doubt, he’s ’on The list’ but it wouldn’t surprise me if the story has been leaked from his camp to flush out buyers. The only way I see it happening is for a much reduced fee. I’m also dubious about the way this has come out, because players we sign don’t tend to come out like this. We don’t seem to court them publicly, it usually goes from 0-100 fast. 

I like the way you've divided "midfield" up into FIVE different segments to try and justify the number of midfielders. Lol.

We agree on the pressing need for a new RAM as you call it (or RW as I would call it) but where are the 2 senior alternatives for Ohashi and Gueye?

IF we got all those 3 (currently we have none) then we'd be looking a lot better placed to tackle the season.

If you look, he has divided the team into 11 different segments/positions, almost like we have to name a starting 11, and generally play with 5 midfielders & 1 striker

I do not think this negates the need for at least one more central striking option though

There aren't 11 different segments in a team. You play with at least 2 CB's, at least 2 central midfielders and sometimes even with 2 strikers.

I think we are terrifyingly short on the right hand side, I think Miller will be a good addition though may take some time to adjust and Alebiosu is an unknown at this stage. Our only wide option is currently Hedges unless we try Kargbo off the right on his 'natural' side.

A complete midfielder.

Had the lot in his locker including a cannonball shot - think he averaged something like a goal every 5 or 6 games for us.

Would have eaten Travis for breakfast - twice the player Travis ever will be.

We definitely need a RW, for sure. That should be the priority for the remainder of the window, as well as if they do decide to ship Travis off, in which case I imagine they'll take the risk on Baradji (if they can also get shut of Mafoumbi).

We can nit pick all day long about what you actually call them, the bottom line is we're massive overloaded with midfielders and desperately short on attacking options.

Using Mr. Mani's descriptors we have TWELVE "midfield" options of one form or another -  but still amazingly find ourselves without a RW worthy of the name - and only TWO senior (sub 10 goal) strikers potentially backed up by a 21 year old who hasnt really cut it yet and a 17 year old he's inserted as an option in both midfield and attack.

2 more strikers and a decent RW and the squad would look balanced. Until then.....

Problem is, you take Kargbo off the left and put him on the right, we are stuck with DeNeve or Hedges on that side.   

Wide and up front we are really short of attacking threat. Just don't see where the goals come from.

Horrible feeling Kargbo will be taken off at about 50 mins clutching the back of his leg.  Out another 4 to 6 weeks.  Damn. Why am I so gloomy.

Completely agree Rev.  We are really weak up top. Specialist right winger,  striker (better than Woodrow!) and someone who can play across the line. If Trav does get sold, that's where the money needs to go.  Not on a replacement midfielder.  Tronstadt/Axel/Tavares/Forshaw/Montgomery is enough cover for 2 positions, given the issues further up the pitch.

That's not a his natural side. I haven't seen a single clip of him playing on that side. He's a left winger. We've had 20 years of wingers of being inverted and people still talk like it's a fad! 

I suspect we'll fill this space with a young PL loan. Hopefully it's more Elliott than Cozier-Duberry.

Suspect we'll see a lot of Cantwell wide left, Henriksson wide right during this season.

More so if we don't get a RW sorted!
