Everything is for sale, but it's the player's fault? Reyt then.

Foxtrot Oscar Mr Jackson and stop defending the indefensible.

Venky's Out.

He won't be getting Β£30k a week at Derby or any other Championship club. It is a made up figure designed to portray Rovers as powerless in this scenario and unable to compete.

He -might- double his basic pay from Β£10k to Β£20k a week at a push. When he signed his deal he was up and coming and he's since amassed over 200 games in this league and been our captain for 4 years so I'd say a hefty wage rise is a reasonable expectation

Remember - It is Rovers not operating or behaving as an established Championship club that is the issue here, not everyone else behaving unreasonably.

If we can't or won't pay the going rate then we will end up in a lower division. Quite simple really. If you are comfortable with that then enjoy it, I won't be.Β

It will likely be Β£20K - Β£25K basic & the rest in bonuses/appearance fees etc

Which although a ridiculous amount, these are the figures on offer to a seasoned Championship performer from most teams in the division

Matt Grimes for example is on Β£35K/week at Coventry

Fair play to Trav if he can get that kind of money - frankly even if it was only a few thousand difference it'd make sense for him to pursue a move to a genuinely ambitious club where he knows (and presumably gets on well with) the manager. I've always found it difficult to blame any player (or manager) for wanting to leave the club under the current ownership. As long as they're professional about it until they leave, it's not a problem for me.Β

Comedy stuff from Jackson again today.

So Travis wants to do Rovers a favour by going now rather than next summer so that we receive a fee?

Jackson reckons Ismael is open, honest and 'an open book' - says who? Who gives Ismael his information? That's right, the liars upstairs.Β

Unsurprisingly that ridiculous claim/admission from Ismael - unnecessary and unprompted - has gone down badly with Travis - it has made his future untenable which is EXACTLY what the the regime have wanted - they want him gone and they want the blame piling on the player and Derby and not themselves.

I am however glad that Jackson is acknowledging for the first time that the 'party line' from Rovers - that they've made him a good offer to commit - might not actually be the truth and that other parties suggest there has never been a formal offer made (which is what I believe and the evidence seems to suggest).

Jackson thinks that the above becomes 'a debate over semantics' - I disagree. If the truth of the matter is - as I suspect - that the player hasn't even been given a proper offer to stay - then this needs making clear to the paying public and the deluded brigade need to swallow their medicine and learn their lessons not to trust a word this regime comes out with ever again.

The money offered by Derby described as 'life changing' by both sides - if you want a sentence that displays what these people have done to this club then there it is. Of course this suits Rovers again because they can make out like we were never in any position to keep him up against such 'resources' (actually Derby aren't wealthy and have brought in less than we have in the last 3-4 years).

That is a lie because they could have made offers during last season and didn't, which is why Travis confirmed this publicly in March and why Eustace walked out.Β

Ismael is either an idiot or is complicit in the shenanigans for his comments after the last two games.

Only a few months since Travis said "this club means everything to me."

Β

And another one

Β

Dom Hyam's long-term future at Blackburn Rovers is in doubt after unresolved contract talks between club and player.

Β

The Lancashire Telegraph can exclusively reveal details of negotiations that has led to uncertainty over whether he will be at Ewood Park before the summer transfer window shuts.

Hyam is one of four first-team players out of contract at Rovers this summer. Lewis Travis, Sondre Tronstad and Ryan Hedges are the others with Adam Forshaw also signing up to a new one-year deal in the summer.

Β

The 29-year-old, who played every minute of Rovers' Championship season in 2024/25, has been offered a new two-year contract on the same terms as the deal he signed in 2021 when he arrived from Coventry City.

READ MORE:Β Lewis Travis' Blackburn Rovers wish, contract stand-off and inside messy divorce

That would extend his stay at Rovers until 2027, so a further 12 months on his current deal, which expires next summer.

Hyam is not at the top of Rovers' wage list but, equally, as a senior player, is not at the bottom either. After three successful seasons at Blackburn, the deal on offer is not one that is likely to be signed at the time of writing.

Sources have reiterated to the LT that Hyam is happy at Rovers and has no interest in leaving the club this summer. If Blackburn want to move in a different direction, he is happy to see out the final year of his deal or sign a new deal if the offer is improved.

However, Rovers are open to a sale if the defender is unwilling to commit his future. Club sources claim that there were indications that this level of contract would be accepted. That is disputed by sources close to the player.

Blackburn do not want to risk losing any more players on free transfers after Tyrhys Dolan's exit. As a result, Hyam's future is up in the air and it's possible he could leave the club this month if an acceptable offer arrives.

At the time of writing, The LT is not aware of any formal offers to the club or player from rival teams. He remains a key player for Valerien Ismael and despite this stand-off, there is no suggestion he won't continue to be involved.

Rovers have also verbally communicated that they're open to discussions with Ryan Hedges but no formal contract offer has been tabled.

The club opened talks with the Welshman last December but nothing materialised with a change of head coach, a chaotic end to the season and Chief Executive Steve Waggott leaving.

In the last month, Rovers have again intimated a willingness to resolve his expiring contract but the structure of their proposal has been unclear and no agreement is close.

Edit. In case it could be construed that I'm criticising Travis, that's not what I meant to do.

He was as loyal as it gets and the treatment of him has been disgraceful

I don't think Hyam should get much of a bump. Adjust his wages for inflation and I think it's a decent offer based on what he contributes to the team.

So in other words, a pay drop taking into account inflation etc for 1 extra year beyond the expiration of his current deal

I keep seeing people say 'doubled his wages' or 'Β£30k'.... as far as I can see the only thing Jackson has mentioned is 'life-changing'.Β  Depends what Trav is on now (let's say Β£15k P/W, which I highly doubt tbh), you'd only have to increase that by 5-10k and I'd say that is pretty life-changing.Β  Potentially an extra Β£2m - Β£2.5m over 5 years.Β

Once again, one of our key players is leaving for a derisory figure because we just cannot tie down anyone of any use to a contract. Comin up for 2 years (November 2023) since Wharton signed a proper contract extension, and even that was when the club was comfortable in the knowledge that they were going to flog him at the earliest opportunity.Β

Another gut punch for the fanbase.Β

I think what’s life changing is finally leaving this absolute messΒ

Expected Hyam to the next one as will have suitors, Tronstad seems to go under the radar and anyone wanting Hedges must be batshit mental.

Managed decline.

Obviously the first half of last season he and his teammates were loving life doing well at the top end of the league and playing under a manager they gave everything for and had galvanised the club in the space of a few months,

The time for new contracts was then and had that been done I'm sure that most of Travis, Batth, Weimann, Brittain and Dolan would have signed up and we would have secured our foundations for years to come, perhaps even more importantly it would probably have persuaded Eustace and his team to stick around and keep going.

But the people at the top of this club - with their questionable links, backgrounds and no reason to believe any of them have a clue about running football clubs - know better.

This is what makes it even more difficult to accept - that we had what we needed in the palm of our hand and they have dismantled it in 6 short months for no real reason.

Another thing to look at are the wages other teams are offering for players that aren't "difference makers", when you do you realise how far Rovers are sinking.

It's now become very clear that Rovers are completely incapable of renewing current first team players contracts.

This is the future under the direction of Suhail Pasha and Venky's and it isn't a sustainable one in the Championship.

Any decent owner would sack all involved in the laughable number of players down to 1 year left on their deal. Total incompetence.

List the club for sale!! It's time to go.

Venky's and Pasha OUT!

Just catching up on this. Pesky LT pay wall- what did Ismael say about Travis exactly?

No surprise of course that Hyam is the latest one to have contract talks stall just a few weeks after Elliott and the LT helpfully announced on behalf of the Club that agreement on him was "close" to try and soften the blow of the news about Brittain's impending departure.

Brittain, Dolan, Travis, Hyam.

Almost a full set.Β

Unfortunately, I can imagine Tronstad's agent being quite active or desperate now. This is all due to Tronstad wanting to move closer to home, of course. Nothing to do with the Venky stooges.

If he could move to Hull he’d be handy for the ferry.
