I think getting 1m each for Buckley, JRC and Leonard is good business, none of them looked like being very useful or pushing on (except JRC when not injured) hope they all go on to do well though.

Massive gamble of a window but I'm weirdly excited to see how these guys do. I think the new Japanese winger and Gudjohnson if it goes through could be good signings.

Hope we utilise loan spots well, maybe some experience in the league ie Baker last year.

Just one loan, but a good un, would be perfect.

After Moroshita, Gudjohnsen is the first player we've been linked with who I'm a little excited about. Admittedly I've been very disillusioned with all things Rovers this summer.

I think he could be exactly what we need though. Powerful, good in the air but with more craft than Gueye. Looks quite intelligent in his link up play too and for some reason the fact he is Eider's son makes me quite excited. He was an unbelievable player. Even if he's got half the technique and footballing intelligence his Dad did, he'll be a cracking player.

I'm not sure where this leave Gueye though. A player with a similar physique and traits could mean very limited minutes for him.

I don't think it's fair to look back at his 'scoring record' and make judgements. Look back at Eidur's career.....a magnificent player, I think he had one season where he scored 12/13 goals for Chelsea, but other than that wasn't exactly renowned for his goals.

A 23 year old with 34 international caps, came through Barcas youth team, regular football on the continent, 6'2, and from a family with some incredible football pedigree......not the biggest gamble we'll ever take.

He didn’t Phillip. Neither Pele or Ronnie Clayton played in the  0-0 draw between England and Brazil in the 1958 World Cup. It was a result of Brazil failing to score that they brought Pele into the team. Wolves Eddie Clamp played in Ronnie’s position. Bryan Douglas played in that game though.

Ronnie did play directly against Pele in the away friendly against Brazil in the following year.

Thanks.

I distinctly recall Ronnie recounting playing against Pele.

You do realise people call you out as negative because every post is negative, right?

It isnt. But as ever, people like you dont respond with anything constructive and just patrol perceived negativity.

On this particular player, I have more concerns than some of the other signings who I have much more reason for optimism over, and even then, I havent written him off and have tried to constructively give reasons why he might prove to be a good signing.

Personally, I'd sell Gueye and get one more striker in. He's frustrating and ultimately is less than the sum of his parts.

Any one with visibility?

Apparently we offered £1m + loan back for the season.

Rovers look like they were trying to take advantage of Wednesday’s financial trouble, but their owner rejected it.

Only position that worries me now is goalkeeper. If Toth gets injured we're up shit creak

And it's such a Blackburn Rovers thing to do, neglect one of if not the most important areas of the squad whilst rebuilding the rest of it.

Wonder who’s idea that was ? 🤔🤔🤔

Leonard and Gueye out for Gudjohnson and Cadamarteri would be an upgrade I think, would be happy if we get that done.

Then just need a backup for Toth.

Ultimately season depends on all the new guys coming good which is not guaranteed.

Pears is more than adequate as back up.

Isn't goalkeeper one position though where an emergency loan or unattached player (of which there are several at Premier League level available at the moment) can be added after the window closes?

Vague recollection of this being in the rules. However, most things are a bit vague with me these days, so I've probably imagined it..

If Pears is leaving before Monday, I'd like to think we're looking at the goalkeeper position, and that we should get Michalski out on loan to League One or League Two.

Toth has been good, but we shouldn't get comfortable with that, and I don't think Michalski is quite ready to step in. I'm certain we must be looking at that situation.

One of the things you can say about the recruitment this summer is that they are trying to avoid leaving a position hanging out to dry due to outgoings - When a player is sold we generally have a player lined up for the position, Britain wasn't sold until Alebiosu was sorted, Travis for Baradji, it now looks like Leonard was allowed to go once the deal for Gudjohnsen was sorted out.

Pears is the backup to Toth, if Pears is sold I expect that a new keeper will be signed. It might well be that they are actively not selling Pears until they can find a keeper they like where they can turn an overall profit/wage reduction on both transfers.

I am worried about the overall quality/whether all of these new players will prove good enough, but as I have said before for the first time in yonks there does seem to be some semblance of joined up thinking behind the transfer policy this year.

3 in 20 last season seemingly.

He didn't even name the player in question, I think you're probably thinking we were talking about someone else. I was just going off what he was saying about an unnamed player we are not linked with.

Fair play to Ismael, we've brought in some interesting names this summer.  Gudjohnson might be a real gem. I've got a feeling he's the key in the jigsaw we're missing

So its like Nathan Jones and Rovers xtra were right when they tweeted last night Gudjohnsoen

Don't know anything about the player, but lets hope we get this done.

That's a first, you usually think you everything about a potential signing

I feel like there is, but unsure if playing Michalski in cups may rule us out?

Started his career at real madrid so must be some talent there. Born in England as well so he might qualify as a home grown player

It depends on what academy you come through to be designated a home grown player.

Eric Dier, born in Cheltenham and an England international. Came through the Sporting Lisbon academy so was never classed as ‘home grown’ when playing in England 🙃

Gøran Sorloth was good - Alexander Sørloth is good, Patrick Kluivert was good - Justin Kluivert is good, Sergio Conceicao was good - Francisco Conceicao is good.

this is bound to be a success

Not to mention Callum Best’s outstanding football career
