Tomphil2 Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Come on the loan manager role must be relatively straight forwards for any experienced ex player. He's just out keeping tabs on our loans and touching base with their counterpart or head coach etc then calling other clubs seeing who might be available for future loan. Then he'll pass the info on. Piece of piss surely. Quote

Piece of piss surely. He also spent a quarter of his career on loan, so presumably understands the process from the players point of view. I think if we had a good faith leadership team it'd feel more genuine. But we don't so it doesn't. 5 1 Quote

Agree although i think we've got to look at it like this if it wasn't him 'the agency' would serve up one of their clients probably with zero affinity or connection to Rovers and charge a fortune for it. Remember John Jensen being shoved in as Kean's number 2, that kind of thing. Rhodes always came across as a grounded sensible lad and at least has some feeling for the club so i presume he's here to try and do a good job not just have a gravy train ride. He'll not be short of money. 7 Quote

I'd be very surprised if Rhodes hasn't done several badges already, the PFA offer fully funded B license courses to all senior players, most are able to undertake the practicals, etc at their own clubs. All scholars complete C license as part of their EFL/PL education package. But the role doesn't involve coaching, so I'm not sure why coaching badges would help. Those sound like reasons for him to be a striker coach, and I really wouldn't mind him passing on his knowledge of how to move in a penalty box and how to strike a ball to our goal-shy front line. But loan manager seems a job more about negotiation, keeping an eye on players out on loan and perhaps an understanding of who is ready for loan and what level they should go to. Those seem more like scouting skills (apart from negotiation) and beyond having been a footballer I don't see what qualifies him for this. Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago They tend to not have anything to do with negotiations, they are the go between when the loan is active. They go and watch the players, deal with the analysts from host club, liaise with physio's and medical staff on physical development and work with the coaching staff. 1 Quote

He better hope we don't loan anyone south of Birmingham. This lot wouldn't pay his M6 Toll expenses. 4 Quote

Although saying that we've sent a few players to the SPL in recent times, but I think the ones who went up were going at a point in their youth careers when it looked as if they were off. Thinking of Vale and the left back we sent to Motherwell Edited 11 hours ago by Lancaster Rover Quote

neophox Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Hyams replacement Silver Eze in a three year pro deal. 3 Quote
DutchRover Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago Good to see Eze sign on, based on reports earlier in the summer he seems to be one of the best rated youth players at the club. Worry we will have to play him in 1st team far too early though when others get injured/sold. Quote

Jordan will coast unnoticed down the M6 for 75 mins then slip between the defenders barriers to reach his destination goal inside 90 mins, uncharged. Quote
Rovers96 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I feel we need to make a bingo card for the fans Q&A with Gestde & co. I can put the top 3 being Fans attendance/attitude, No CEO, and players wanted to move for better money or location. Does anyone know when they’ll be releasing this Q&A video? Quote

RoverKyle Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If Craig Dawson is interested, get him in. Solid defender and plenty of experience at a higher level. I suspect his wage demands will be higher than what we're offering. 2 Quote
roversfan99 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago It would be a desperate attempt to scramble around having seen the pound signs flash in front of our eyes on deadline day without replacing Hyam. Hes not played for a while, he would be totally unfit. But it would come under better than nothing. He obviously was a Premier League standard defender but not sure what level hes at now. He is experienced and would be a leader. 1 Quote
Polky Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago If he turned down Birmingham City on deadline day, surely we can’t match his wage demands? 1 Quote
