Lots of smokescreens at the moment. Not daft the two stooges, they know that the pressure is building both in terms of results but more than that the outrageous transfer activity of this summer.

Gestede speaking to people via LinkedIn.

Hastily organising a 'podcast' or whatever it is with Gestede, Ismael and Owen - attempting to present a united communicative front (of course all questions submitted in advance, cherry picked and rehearsed beforehand).

Handing Rhodes a work experience position to charm the fans who remember his goalscoring efforts.

Giving Nixon a name or two of targets we are 'after' to replace Hyam.

All part of the playbook. None of it actually matters, what matters is offloading quality players that we owned that got us into top 6 contention, trousering the proceeds and gambling away our Championship status.

100% they’re too predictable some of our fans need to stop falling for their tripe. Seen one say “fair play to the club it’s an upgrade on Hyam” on social media.

Crikey he’s 35 yrs old doubt we’ll get him. Plus he’ll need a few matches to get to match fitness and sharpness

Hasn't played since release by Wolves in January.

He’s probably had other offers, be surprised if this happens tbh

Will be paid vastly more in Saudi and tax-free.

Craig Dawson grew up local, started at Radcliffe Borough, out of favour at Wolves since Christmas, but excellent in both boxes, a real threat from set pieces.

Beggars can’t be choosers, 200+ prem games for West Ham, Wolves, WBA etc. After the disaster of deadline day, have to pay him whatever he wants to do a season for us.

It’s quite strange how this Dawson rumor comes out around the same time the disastrous deadline day of Hyam leaving and not being replaced and fans complaining about lack of experience. Probably a smokescreen but would be a good signing although lack of fitness an issue

Dawson = Wes Brown/Gordon Greer and we all know how that ended.

Be fair, you also have Fadz and Batth who came in and did good jobs.

Adam Wharton about a month before we sold him.

Ok, let's remove acedemy players from that list (as I remember Buckley getting a long deal too). I seriously can't remember the last contract renewal..

Dack maybe?

If Craig Dawson is interested, get him in. Solid defender and plenty of experience at a higher level. I suspect his wage demands will be higher than what we're offering.

But more than what he is making right now, just

Would likely think he turned them down due to location. Certainly wouldn't be down to wages or ambition.

Great deal if it happens. An experienced head is badly needed. I don't think it would take him long to get fit. He's a player that reads the game well which will make up for his lack of game time.

You think the player who was most recently playing for Wolverhampton turned down Birmingham because of location?

Quite possibly yes? He's not originally from that area (he's from Rochdale), no idea where he currently lives though but think he's married with kids so might be at the stage of his life where he doesn't fancy much of a commute to work. I certainly wouldn't be trotting down the M6 every day no matter what the wage was!

Since 2010, West Bromwich is the furthest north he’s played.

I think it more likely he wants to play at this stage of his life(assuming he still wants to). Something he probably won't do a lot of at Birmingham with the squad they have assembled. So, on that basis, IF we pay the money,it has a chance because we have the opportunity

We are suddenly going to pay a 35 year old 25k a week for a year or two ?

Give over, this interest ends when he's offered 10 grand a week for one year but maybe another year as an option.

Depends upon what you want to look  at.

I personally wouldn't count triggering extensions, like they did with Hyam in the summer

Forshaw during the summer?  (despite him technically leaving first, I'm not having him counted as a new signing)  Although that probably wasn't a hard one to get done

Ribeiro at the end of last season?  This may have been pre agreed based on play time/setting in when he signed n January

Before that it was Szmodics, Pickering & Adam Wharton around Christmas 2023

Before that, Pears & JRC is the summer of 2023

I don’t think it will happen either but I’d say 10k per week plus a signing on fee along with add ons on the contract is better than his current income status which is zero per week

He went to the secondary school I was a technician at. He made a corner bookcase for his GCSE project. Somehow I don’t think he’ll be turning his hand to joinery when he retires.

If it's true he turned down Birmingham then it's pretty obvious money is not the most important thing to him at this stage of his career. If that's the case, then we may have a chance because if and when he's fit he would more  than likely be first choice even at 35

or he could sit on a beach for another month before another club who can offer £20K/week has an injury or 2?

I doubt that will be impacting him in any way otherwise he'd take the first offer wouldn't he.

Considering the likes of Birmingham are interested means if it's about money that's where he goes, if it isn't we've a chance.

I'm not really excited about this one i'm sure there are others out there if anyone is bothering to look.

Doesn't need to be a high profile guy look at Batth and Mcfadz, just need someone fit enough, still has legs and good experience/leader qualities at this level.

Anyone know what Nixon said about Dawson exactly? Is it looking likely?

Big hopes for this one. Potential season defining signing, really important they get this done. Especially in the international break to start getting him up to speed and integrated.

Hyam always plays much better when he is the less experienced underling. Will make a good partnership.

Oh, wait...🫣

As people keep pointing out to me - it's more to do with the fact that Hyam is noticeably worse at LCB. I'm not sure why that is.
