Tyrone Shoelaces Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Much as I like Travis and Tronstad as individual players playing both of them together it makes us a very defensive and unthreatening team to play against. It’s really rare that either of them gets up to support the lone striker, never mind getting beyond them. 7 Quote

If the two of them dominate the opposition midfield the team generally play well if not, as we saw yesterday, we get overwhelmed and we are backs against the wall. 2 Quote

If it’s a battle against similar players they’re ok. When they come up against footballers like they did yesterday they get bypassed too easily. The question is how many teams will we come up against that are as slick as NEC ? 1 Quote

I was thinking of that season where Garner and Sellars were both out for the start of the season after their groin surgery had been delayed at the same time. I don't think they returned until January! 1 Quote
sharpysharps86 Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Noticed on Bluesky that Nixon has said Rovers had someone at the training ground yesterday, presumably it is the other player the club is close to signing. If Baradji isn't in the squad for his club today then perhaps it's him. Like the sound of the Swedish fella, hopefully they can do both, but that probably means Travis or Tronstad is off. Hopefully they can get shut of Mafoumbi as well, just pay the lad off, he'll be on peanuts anyway. 1 Quote

You said we need 3 and then named your new squad showing our depth with 5 new signings in it. What you have overlooked here RF99 is replacing Brittain with Miller and either using Leonard or not then replacing him as 3rd option Miller replace Brittain. We either use Leonard or loan him out and bring someone in. right winger we need Baradji or another midfielder we seem to want and centre back is still according to Jackson. Buckley hasn't been all summer and not an Ismael's type player. Never included him. Michalski seems 2nd choice currently so will we even replace Pears when he goes.   Quote

I contested such a low number, you then totally moved the goalposts and created another "squad plan" with 5 new additions rather than the initial 3 you said you felt that we needed, yet continued with your initial argument. So you now dont think 3 is enough and youve added 2 more. Quote

NEC really impressed me tbf. I expected them to be about as good as a bottom half Championship side, but they moved the ball really really well. I have a bit more respect for the Eredivisie outside of your PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord types now. 6 Quote

BankEnd Rover Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I'd of thought Jackson may of done an article on the Swedish lad seeing as there's been numerous reports, one being he's having a medical. Would be nice to know if this is true or not. Quote

I would personally but Jackson has said they want another centre back reason why I increase but the squad is still at 27 players as it was previously squad plan again keeper - Toth Pears Michalski RB - Alebiosu Miller CB - Hyam Carter McLoughlin Wharton plus 1 more LB - Pickering Ribeiro CM - Travis Tronstad Montgomery Tavares Forshaw Baradji or Henriksson RW - Hedges 1 more AM - Tyjon Cantwell LW - De Neve Karbgo CF - Ohashi Gueye Leonard/or another one Quote

Ok. Doesnt explain the need to repeatedly type out your constantly changing "squad plans" which dont even match up to this. Wasting your time and constantly moving the goalposts. Quote

WacoRover Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I know this won’t be a popular statement, but Rovers have been busier in the transfer market this summer, than they have since I began following them in 2013. IF Miller & Henriksson indeed sign. No, we do not know they guys are going to be great at this level, but imho, the club has worked to find players. However, we still need a forward. 5 Quote

We wont lose both tronstad by all accounts happy to stay but does look like the writing could be on the wall for Travis although there hasn’t been an official approaches for him I’m not keen on Travis leaving, purely because it is just further evidence of our club being dismantled, assets being sold and replaced by Poundland signings. From a purely football perspective, I’ve never thought he is much of a player, very limited ability wise. 3 Quote
