Hoddle should have taken him to 98 world cup.  Him and le tissier would have given us something different.  Especially when we were down to 10 men against Argentina.  Hoddle just didn't like players who were equal to his ability

Gazza was a very good player and I will always remember his goal against Scotland in Euro 96

That's up there with micheal Owens goal V Argentina.

Italia 90 was where it all began for me 💚🤍🤎

Italia 90 was too early for me. World Cup 94 was my first memories of international football competitions and my first memory was England beating San Marino after the scored in the first seconds of the game

He went on the razz though and gave Hoddle the excuse he was looking for.

8 years old in my blue n white stripes pyjamas sat on the bottom step sobbing my heart out after Waddles miss and mum saying "That's it theyre out he's missed it what a shame"

Tears just came out and i didnt even have a clue why.

All I know is I love watching  England in tournaments  I dont care if its boring to most. Still have those hopes and dreams as a kid, seeing them play. I owe it to that 8 year old to win a major. If we won a world cup I'd absolutely lose my shit 🤣

You can imagine the rest when we won several shoot outs in recent years.

Yep I cried.

A once in a generation player at his peak for England.

Did he ever reach his peak? He was unbelievebly talented, but with his lifestyle it's hard to say he was ever completely on it.

Bit like Paul McGrath for Ireland, he was immense but there is always a feeling of "imagine without all the off-field stuff how good he could have been.

No he didn’t reach his peak unfortunately. What a player he was though.

Regarding Paul McGrath - his knees held him back as much as his off the fired behaviour apparently. I believe he hardly trained in the later part of his career because of knee trouble.
