Rover down South Posted August 30 Posted August 30 (edited) Hate to slate our own players but Gueye is poor. Really poor. He’s just a big lump that is nowhere near championship level, unlike similar sized players like Ellis Simms & Kieffer Moore that at least chip in with some goals. I think we all knew that last season he was bad but he’d built a good rapport with the fans and our good league position most of the season possibly deflected the criticism. Ohashi does offer something, but as lead striker, I’m not so sure. Probably better sat just off main target man. Edited August 30 by Rover down South 6 Quote

But the referee and linesman don't have freeze frame and his momentum was clearly going into the box. At actual speed I thought penalty. The blame surely lies with the player for allowing the situation then pawing at the striker in panic. Just let him go. 4 Quote

SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Hull are above us in the League....let that sink in. FFS! 1 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Hes getting slated but Kargbo was getting in the right areas, should have scored. You could see as he settles he could be quite effective. Tavares on the other hand absolutely dreadful. He is playing the Championship at the Portuguese leagues pace. Have to make a change there. On the whole was quite impressed with us second half. Still of the opinion we are looking at a lower mid table season. We've got two weeks to bed in the signings and get the post Travis midfield sorted. For what its worth Id go... Toth Alebiouso. Hyam. Wharton. Riberio Cantwell. Tronstad Karbo. Morishita? Hedges Ohashi 1 Quote
Andy Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Surprisingly decent 2nd half, but that 2nd goal was always a possibility. Feel we've been unlucky in those first 2 home (league) games and didnt' really deserve to lose either. But, football is a game of momentum and form and you can't get into a losing habit. Regroup after the international break, see who we bring in before the close of the window and hopefully start to pick up some wins. 2 Quote
CambridgeRover Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Tavares and Kargo were shite today. well done recruitment team 1 Quote
Popular Post StHelensRover Posted August 30 Popular Post Posted August 30 I couldn't fault the effort today from the players but we're just not very good and the only reason for that is the owners and their appointed clowns. 1 win in 5 matches and we haven't actually played any good teams yet. 1/4 wins in the league is relegation form. I'm not having people blaming unlucky penalties and referees, pathetic excuses. You make your own luck in football. If you have enough goes against the opposition you'll get a decision go for you sooner or later. There's not some grand conspiracy against us. 23 1 Quote

Gueye looks like he has won a prize to pull the shirt on and although I love Yuki’s hard graft, he won’t score a lot of goals, too slow and not strong enough to be up front alone. 2 Quote

AvRover Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Is it just me who's increasingly cynical of the game? You've got the PL shelling out more and more money with the big boys dominating every competition with their inexhaustible pockets. Meanwhile, most club Championship and below are in permacrisis and financially struggling. Do we really want to tough it out for the next 20 years for the privilege of being PL whipping boys for 12 months? 4 Quote

A lot of changes on the team sheet but some things don’t change, that is 3 goals shipped in 90+ minutes in two games. 1 Quote

Valconite Posted August 30 Posted August 30 For anyone that watched the game, how did Morishita do in his limited time on the pitch? Were there at least signs showing why he was (supposedly) our number one target this window? Quote

I've been in the same boat for a while now. We'll never turn our backs on football but it's not the beautiful game it was, in my eyes anyway. I hate the prem I really do, but ultimately that's what we all need to strive for in this league. On today's game,I think the finish by Sergeant just summed it up. Great strike and one our attackers look unlikely to be able to execute! Showed some spirit in that second half but poor finishes, poor passes and poor officiating all contributed to 0 points. Ryo looks decent but I do worry he will have nobody to cross to like when he skipped past his man. A decent striker transforms this team, Norwich were no better but ultimately go home with 3 points.... 4 Quote

West Yorks Rover Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I'm sure Gudjohnson will improve the team, but he's not exactly prolific in front of goal, is he ? Quote

He looked okay, did well trapping a long ball and then trying to have a go at the defence, hope he keeps that up. Didn't do much wrong. The play in the middle of the park and the wings wasn't too bad today, it was the completely toothless nature of the final third that made sure we once again really struggled to score. We played much better today than we did against West Brom and Birmingham but quality tells and we still came away with nothing 👎 1 Quote
