Oh I forgot about Brierley!! He’s now playing for Exeter city on loan - can’t help but wonder if the failed move to the championship had a negative impact on the lad

Such a negative impact so that he got a move to a Premier league team, and was decent enough for them to be a regular in their matchday squad for half of his first season at Brentford, and now at the age of 21 is a regular starter in a League 1 team

I genuinely think that Football Manager games have warped peoples perceptions of how quickly young players should and do develop

If you are talking about a decision that seems the fairest to both sides, then I think you play the final 10 mins with 10 v 11 behind closed doors.

Obviously replaying the full match is at a complete disadvantage to us, while awarding is the points would upset Ipswich who would quite rightly claim they could have scored in the remaining time (albeit remote)

So therefore it only leaves one decision however logistically difficult it might be. I doubt it's what the EFL will decide though.

Playing the last 10 minutes will actually favour Ipswich - as they will have a fresh team (rather than one having played part of the match with 10 players). They will also have the opportunity to set up their team to best get an equaliser. So, though I agree it is the nearest we can get to fairness, still think Ipswich would get an advantage.

However, all moot, as I think we will be ordered to replay (put money on Ipswich moaning about fixture congestion later in the season 🙂 )

Decision might be tonight but might not be, could go either way there could be a replay or the result may stand.

Nicko.

If you don't want me to post his stuff, just let me know. No skin off my nose

No surprise the EFL wanted more time. They cant make decision. Don't expect a decision this week now. Good to see Rovers digging in over this.

This is one of the reasons why I would carry on the game and played on cos this will get messy potential

Really?   I am not sure how

I just posted some details about his career post his failed Rovers transfer and then made what i thought was a silly throwaway comment

By that time we'll of picked up 2/3 injuries and have a CM pairing of Foreshaw and Montgomery.

Or we play them after the January transfer window and we have re enforcements, you never know, think positive (hard I know)

We were winning 1-0 until 80mins

nothing to suggest we can’t do that again and get to 90mins and hold on for a victory if we need to

come on you rovers

Not more of an advantage than being 1 nil up against 10 men though. But yes, it would probably be better for them than if the rain had relented enough to get the game finished on the day. They'd also get time to plan exactly how to deal with having 10 men against us. But again, it isn't happening any more than Venkys giving us a 50 million quid warchest in January.

Is it any more logically different than organizing a full 90 min match?  Got to find a day, get a ref, and get the team here. 10 min or 90 it’s the same, only difference is ticket sales and of course the 1-0 score and 10 v 11

Im a bit confused about which is the more up to date post from Nixon, the one saying they need more time or the one saying the decision is quicker than expected and is due tonight.

If it's the former and there is any indecision on behalf of the EFL then tbf that's better than I was expecting. I was expecting a relatively quick announcement that the game would be replayed in full.

That isnt a reason to carry on the game.

No matter what decision is made, it wont be a comparable substitute to playing the game when it was supposed to be played.

But the game couldnt be finished. The pitch was unplayable. It is as simple as that.

They cant carry on and finish a game on a totally waterlogged pitch, where the ball wasnt moving, wasnt bouncing and was also a clear injury risk, just to avoid these unfortunate legalities.
