Thats all Mckenna that. Refusing to play because of the conditions.

There are ten minutes left, let's stop the game and let it get worse.

Shocking if called off.

Is this legit or have you made it up.

Thought they'd mentioned it on the rovers stream however further looking into it, seems they were just assuming.. has to be a full 90 played

Keep them there all evening if you must, let the fans go but if you can get 15 minutes in at any point they should do

A replay would be the only other outcome and that’s a travesty given the circumstances.

Ai says:

The referee holds the sole authority to abandon a match. This decision is usually made after consultation with both team captains and managers, with the primary concern being the safety of the players.

While a full replay is the most common outcome, the EFL Board possesses the discretion to rule on the matter differently. They may consider ordering the result at the time of the abandonment to stand if they deem it to be in the best interest of the competition and fair to both teams involved. Factors that could influence this decision, though not explicitly defined, might include the point in the season, the potential for fixture congestion, and the specific circumstances leading to the abandonment.

Therefore, while the team leading 1-0 at the 79th minute would hope for the result to be upheld, they, along with their opponents, will have to await the official verdict from the EFL. The standard expectation, however, remains that a new 90-minute fixture will be arranged

* **Regulation 29.1 (“Postponements, Abandonments and Re-arrangements”)**

  When a League Match is postponed *or abandoned*, the League decides a new date following consultation with both Clubs. ([English Football League][1])

* **Regulation 29.4**

  Every Club must have a publicly stated policy regarding ticket refunds or other arrangements for abandoned Matches. ([English Football League][1])

* **Regulation 29.5**

  If a League Match is postponed or abandoned, the Visiting Club is entitled to receive from the Home Club, out of the gate receipts of *either* game, travelling and/or hotel expenses necessarily incurred (for up to 24 persons), insofar as the League considers they were caused solely by the postponement or abandonment. ([English Football League][1])

* **“Duties and Powers of Referee / Grounds / Clubs”** (as implied by other rules)

  While it’s not explicitly in the EFL Regulations to the same detail, it is understood (via FA Laws of the Game and FA “Match Abandonments” guidance) that the **Referee** has the authority to decide to suspend or abandon a match for safety reasons (e.g. unplayable pitch due to weather), after consultation where appropriate. Such decisions are *case-by-case*. ([www.thefa.com][2])

* **Youth / Academy Rule (EFL Youth Development Rules, Rule 190-191)**

  For Youth / Academy matches, a match may be cancelled, postponed or abandoned under Rule 190 if the pitch is unfit or adverse weather precludes play; the **club hosting** the match must notify the League in writing within seven days of the abandonment or cancellation. Also, unless fault lies with either club, causing such abandonment may breach the rules. ([English Football League][3])
