In the case of Rovers CBs that my original post was referring to, I wouldn't say McLoughlin is one of those standout players. He had a decent start to the season but was foolish to get himself sent off against Norwich. Since then Rovers have done very well defensively and not conceded a goal, so that's my logic for keeping the pairing as is.

Also sometimes need to consider the pairing of players as well. Some players have better chemistry on the pitch than others. I think its too early to say which CB pairing has the best chemistry in this team.

Again, that is where the manager has to make the decision who, in his opinion, is the best player . Sentiment shouldn't enter the equation.

If we lose this, it would need Southampton and Derby to pick up unlikely looking points with Oxford and Watford having winnable home games and we would be in the bottom 3 on Saturday evening...

I can remember a dire 3-0 defeat at the Valley when Rovers produced one of the worst performances I have ever seen when a win would have kept us in with a sniff of promotion some 40 years ago.

Suspect we'll find out more from Ismael after his pre match presser, but the silence from the club possibly suggests that he's out for another sustained period of time.

I’ll never forget that 3-2 game in 2004. Was over for my 30th. Had a real good time in the pub before the game and it was indeed a game to remember for all the wrong reasons. Heartwrenching when that 3-2 went in. Great away support on the day as well!

So the day and time of reckoning has come at last! Please please please beat this lot 3-2 with the final goal in injury time. Make their keeper come up to score an equalizer then squash their hopes with a silky finish. COYB!

I believe they sent him to see a specialist as he felt something in training and they want to get to the bottom of it.
