He put it on a good 4 hours after Nixon had already reported it.

However, in fairness he did seem to double down on it when people said it wasn't happening because he came on for Birmingham.

And ?

And they weren't big financial losses.

Dennis was, but that was Waggott trying to be smart, rather than the Director of Football doing his job.

I would argue that he even put the required effort in.

Even before comments about not running in training, numerous times I have seen him (not just this season) not put in the required work rate.

As you say, there is a lot of revisionism on here. He hasnt been hard done by, hes just not up to it and thankfully we wont have to see him in a Rovers shirt again.

He's 6'5". Asking him to press intensely is moronic.

The account also deleted a post stating it was a loan to buy

when challenged on it their response was ‘I don’t know why I posted that’

guesswork at best

Honestly to me it just shows how far we've sunk when people are desperately scrambling to extol the virtues of Makhtar Gueye. He's a very poor footballer who wouldn't have gotten near our team, even under Venky's, before severe cost cutting meant we were reduced to shopping in the bargain bin permanently.

I wish him luck and have no ill will towards him, but in terms of standards he's far below what I want for my club.

As expected, we don't look like we are close to signing anymore players before the Hull game as the manager wanted.

We are pretty desperate for a couple of Strikers and wingbacks.

Shipping out Gueye is step in the right direction but we really need to get these players in ASAP, even if they don't make the Hull game, they need to be in before Ipswich.

I'd be incredibly surprised if we brought in a striker, they command a higher fee than any other position and they've already outlayed on Andri this year.

They brought in 2 last January, both on loan, both crap, one at an extortionate cost (for modern day Rovers)

I have no doubt they will bring at least one striker in (we need 2), but I have little faith it will be of the quality required

But still a pointless spend instead of the money going towards decent investment.

'Punts' have replaced proper investment in a 2 or 3 for the price of one kind of way.

Every good striker needs confidence and consistent game time - of which he has neither.

That's because he isn't good enough. He hasn't produced the good, whether it be off the bench or as a starter. He's useless in the press and keeps making silly fouls. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

He's useless in the press because that's not his strong point. Would you ask peter Crouch to press? or Ryan Nelsen to be a ball playing centre back? you'd play to their strengths. Not every striker needs to press, and just because you can press doesn't mean you're any good!

RIP Tony.

Joined Rovers in difficult times but was a joy to watch and contributed enormously to our improvement.  A goal every other game forward who would walk into today's team.

Washed our face with Ennis. Made a profit on Telalovic.

By that metric we lost loads of money on Danny Graham and Bradley Dack.  Who would you rather have playing for you?

What's his strong point exactly?

We can't not sign a striker. Even when Gudjohnsen is back fit we need an option off the bench/for rotation.

Yeah I don't see us buying one.

Either a loan, or someone like Riberio/Forshaw where the player will be able to negotiate a cancelled contract and join on a short term deal that might be extended in the summer.

Which version of Bradley Dack?

Big Mak knocked that ball right into Weismann's patch at Turf Moor and I thought "We've got a handful here". However the next 14 months proved it was a bit of a fluke. For someone so big, his aerial prowess was poor. He often was out jumped by shorter centre halves, and when he did win headers they weren't the knock down from the Burnley game, they either flicked on to nobody or were aimless. He is a poor header of the ball, and has a poor leap for such a big guy.

He has certain odd games (West Brom away was it?) where it seemed to click and defences struggled to handle him. But generally he's been disappointing. Would I rather have him upfront for the last 10 minutes instead on Henriksson. Yes (if he stayed onside). But generally, for the money we paid, there has to be better options available.

Winning headers and making defenders think, a 6'4 defender playing against a 5'10 striker is a walk in the park. If we played a bit of route one or more crosses with a Gueye type figure in and around the box, the defenders would have to think more. In his early days he put himself about and was a physical presence as time grew on and his confidence lowered this impacted his style of play as well as him coming on for the last 8 minutes being told to press the centre backs. This is why we never saw the best of him.

Slightly off topic but this, I think, is an issue with modern managers.

They can’t adapt to the players at their disposal resulting in them playing the same system/tactics etc ‘come what may’

I think it stems from the bizarre way that football clubs all seem to be run nowadays.

People in suits telling the actual qualified manager what type of football to play. All this shite about philosophies etc.

They have a point in the fact that Anorim refused to adapt his 3-5-2 system which was his downfall, the players he had didn't fit the system. a 3-5-2 requires seriously talented centre backs and wing backs (hence why it doesn't work here either). we should really be playing a 4-1-3-2 with Gueye knocking it down to Ohashi/Gudjohnsen.
