Nowhere near. The points "haul" over Christmas is shocking.

Wrexham take maximum points from us and Rovers reserves away. More than just money. Very shrewd buying. Bringing in players before they need them.

Not good enough. You can't be dropping points at home to your relegation rivals.

Spare me the sob stories "if they hadn't got their pen, we would have won!", because the flow of a football match doesn't work like that.

Yes and no. We’re not good enough going forward and the first goal should’ve been stopped at the cross; but that is not a penalty at all.

Ohashi goal less again...strikers needed even Baradji seems better.

Yes, but you really cant blame Ohashi. His size and physique is built as a supporting/fox in the box style striker - he cant operate effectively as a long striker. Really we need somebody big and strong, think Duncan Ferguson style.  It especially dosnt help when we are scared to push forward

Never thought we would lose today because we don't when everyone thinks we will, even at 2-0 down after getting that goal back quickly I didn't think we would lose.

That being said, despite taking the point at 2-0 down its still another poor home result against another poor side.

Repeat the cycle now, lose the next couple and then get a result against someone.

Yeah he needs someone with him up front and not Hendrickson.

We’re really missing Gudjohnson atm

We need to get ahead of Charlton first to keep ahead of them. This was the chance, spurned.

When have we ever had a win against relegation rivals? It’s not how we do it, plus yes our team is mince but injury’s currently are catastrophic, we are relying on our youngsters. As much as we deserve to go down , I still don’t want us to because it will still harm us

Positives:

We have shown we can actually come back from 2 down, and score a couple at home, albeit against poor opposition.

Baradji is starting to show his class. The two goals will give him oodles of confidence. If he came off with cramp as stated then it shouldn't keep him out of any games, although it's a sign he might not be fit enough yet.

We have a really promising clutch of young defenders coming through. Two of them, Litherland and Atcheson, are good ballers too. Shame about Atcheson's injury, although it does seem to have helped Atcheson get his opportunity. Need to see a bit more of O'Riordan to make a judgement. And of course we've got Pratt who has been really solid since coming in. With the numbers, and the potential to develop some fine young players of our own, it seems crazy to suggest we should still sign another CB...except that McLoughlin (who was good today tbf) shouldn't be our best seasoned defender. You could say we have Wharton and Carter coming back eventually, but we all know how that ends. Selling Hyam without a replacement was stupid.

3 ex-Rovers on the pitch, and none of them scored, assisted, or pulled off a remarkable save. The immutable law of the ex was muted.

I won a decent bundle betting on the game 😂 about 40 quid up I think

Negatives:

Pretty obvious. This was a must-win game really. We can't keep failing to take 3 points against bottom-end sides, especially the ones we are in a relegation dogfight with. This was a missed opportunity. Some of the subs near the end continued Ismael's bizarre tendency to seemingly make subs for the sake of it and mess with our flow, though it sounds like the Baradji one was enforced.

De Neve being on the pitch gives me kittens.

If there had been one more corner in the game I'd have won another 23 quid 😂

Perhaps not, but the argument that we would've won 2-1 without it is a specious one. That penalty changed the flow of the game. It's called the 2-0 curse for a reason.

If Baradji is able to stay fit and continue as he did today, then I'd argue that Cantwell should be benched when Gudjohnsen is back. Baradji at least seems to offer a goal threat, arriving in the box twice today in the right position.

Cantwell may have crossed well for the first goal, but I'm struggling to see where he fits in this team once Gudjohnsen returns and they revert to 2 up top.

What did you bet on?

I lost £40 repeatedly backing the current score on Betfair. Goals kept going in as I was about to lay it off.

Random thought

Gueye is a better player than Ismael is a manager.

Nah, he’s not. Ismael has proven he can actually manage football teams. Gueye has been a petulant underachieving child everywhere he’s been employed. Ismael’s problem is he’s doing exactly as he’s told - a yes man who is allowing Pasha and Gestede to run a football club neither are qualified for.

Charlton were utterly dreadful, they struggles to string 3 passes together, yet we scraped a draw against them 😳 The standard throughout was lower end league 1 standard and wouldn't be surprised if we both end up there. The options off the bench were so so dire today.

Plus points? The obvious 2 goals for Baradji and Tom played pretty well too.

Hells bells I dread to see the team we field in the cup next week.

I believe the plan is to use that match to integrate our early January signings…

Awful result but because it’s not 0 points and a ref can be blamed it will be spun as positive.

Manager should be gone.
