v Coventry City (a) - 2/4/22

Unfortunately two lads were assaulted, I’ve seen a photo on twitter of one of them covered in blood, two lads not looking for trouble set upon by 10+ Coventry lads. Disgusting. -

You don’t see Pep putting Fernandinho in the false nine though do you Gav? -

They wanted a perm deal but ended up loaning him out so this article is obviously bollocks anyway Gav. -
Just the two goals for him today while we once again have no attacking threat whatsoever 👍🏻

Eh? I never questioned whether or not you’d be at the game, I know you’re a season ticket holder Chaddy I was just emphasising how impressive he was for Forest and questioning why you were looking down on his ability. He’s not just a “good target man” he’s great with the ball at his feet and can also do the physical stuff. Top player and a great loan deal for Forest. Connelly and Balogun I’m not bothered about, Connelly always looked average for Brighton I’m not surprised he’s not pulled any trees up in the championship.

Davis brings a lot more to a team than goals. Did you see him at Ewood? It was probably the most impressed I’ve been with an opposition players performance this season, he bullied our defence and they couldn’t get near him. Sheff United fans said the same about him after they played Forest the other day. Davis is a beast and will be a force at this level for sure. Great player.

That’s Mowbray off at the end of the season then. Thanks as always Josh 🙌🏻 -

The championship bar Fulham is weak as piss this season, we have such a great defence that you can’t help but feel if we’d have brought another Striker in in January we may well be sat comfortably in the top two never mind the top six. When Venkys pull the plug in a few years time is this the season we are going to look back on as the biggest opportunity missed since we got relegated from the prem? Possibly. -
I think the fact it’s £3.5 million means we definitely won’t be signing Zeefuik. It’s an option to buy not an obligation to buy. We ain’t gunna be paying that.

Free hit this game. It’s all about Fortress Ewood to cement us in that top six. The top two is gone now. If we can come away from this game with a point it would be a great result. -
Anyone but Luton. Would not want to play that lot in the playoffs.

Why are people asking for Vale to get game time? Is it because we simply have no other options? I can’t remember the last time a player scored goals for the under 23s then did it at first team level. Nuttall was banging them in for fun for the under 23s and was awful even when we were in league one. Butterworth has looked really poor, Mcbride bagged a decent amount for the under 23s and although we never saw much of him he didn’t leave much of an impression. Why not actually play the lad we signed in Jan in Hedges? And why not play Gallagher down the middle instead of Buckley. Gallagher has his limitations, get him away from the channels and the wing and just stick him in the centre, it might mean a tweak of formation or set-up but we need it right now. The 5 at the back has been great and we are more solid defensively than we’ve been in years but something has got to change. Tomorrow has the feeling of a season defining game and I’m not confident.

Buckley has been well out of form for a while now, Rothwell hasn’t been great but I’d be starting him over Buckley all day, not even a debate for me.

v Sheffield Utd (a) - 23/2/22 - Match Preview
Butty replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Honestly you couldn’t fucking write it could you. Text my old man after the penalty miss saying it would be the most typical Rovers thing I’ve ever seen if we lose this match. And we chuck it away from a set piece in the last minute. We all knew another striker should have been brought in, in Jan. We all knew if Diaz got injured we’d be fucked. Well here it is. Thank god there’s only one more game left in February, the worst month to be a Rovers fan. What could have been this season lads. That is a crushing defeat and probably will hurt them lads more than the Fulham one. If we don’t bounce back on Saturday we’re in the shit. -

After your initial statement when I saw you say “in other news” I was expecting you to say that you’d recently been sectioned. 😂 -

I know we’ve had to many draws and not enough wins recently but Jesus I’d take a draw tonight and then a win Saturday against QPR. Have a feeling we’re in for a really tough night tonight. Shit time to be playing them and a good time for them to be playing us, hopefully the championship does what it does and throws up a surprise result. We can hope anyway lads 👍🏻 -
v Millwall (h) - Saturday 19th February
Butty replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No he’s not a striker but with the way our team is this season Dembele would have been another option to play one of the forward roles. Khadra and Dolan have both played up there with Diaz. I said on deadline day an injury to Diaz and we’d be screwed, luckily it doesn’t look like it’s a serious one but the club should 100% have done everything to get another forward in. -
v Millwall (h) - Saturday 19th February
Butty replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Well the club obviously felt we needed another in as we tried to sign Dembele. -
We did have some decent results with Gally Diaz and Dolan as a front three at the start of the season, I think I saw with that front three we have won 5 drawn 2 and lost 1 game. Maybe that’s the way on Saturday. Of course when you have injuries and suspensions and don’t have like for like swaps for a formation that’s been working then maybe consider switching and yes the last few games have been poor. We just had that insane run with the back 5 and Khadra and Diaz up top didn’t we which was more what I was referring to in my initial post without in all honesty reading the rest of the thread properly 😂

Having a settled formation and a team that picks itself every week is what you want at this level. There was a time as a Rovers fan you never know who would be starting from one game to the next and as we know that didn’t lead to success on the pitch. The reason we are where we are now this season is down to having a settled team and formation and Tombola Tinker man Tony taking a back seat.

JRC looked like he was going to be a player but those injuries seem to have massively effected his progress. I think he needs 90 minutes twice a week with the Under 23s and if he can get fully fit and back playing at a level he once showed he could be at then he can be back involved in a match day squad. -

There’s no f*****g way Nyambe should be on the bench for any game for the rest of this season if he’s fit. There are some fans who always leave him out when doing there lineups for games @chaddyrovers being one and Chaddy isn’t the only one, but it baffles me! He’s the best full back we have at the club, I don’t care if he might leave for nothing in the summer, once again tonight he showed nothing but commitment to this team playing in an unnatural position as well. Yes his final ball isn’t the best but he makes up for that by being solid as rock. Up the Rhino! -

Of course most of us had us finishing in the lower end of the table at the start of the season, we’re not and that is phenomenal as you say. But the players have raised our expectations now and have given us hope that we could finish in the top six of this league, the last few games have been concerning as we have offered very little going forward. It would be such a shame if we faded away now and that’s why some fans are frustrated. A win on Saturday would be huge for us and would hopefully get us back on track to achieve a “phenomenal” top six finish. You can’t have a go at some for having concerns, especially with the death spirals we’ve had in the past. February and Rovers are the worst combination since Barrymore and Pool parties. -

Butty replied to rigger's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They were there for the taking tonight but as has been the story for us in recent games we lacked the attacking threat to take advantage. Saturday is now a huge game for us, we really need to start firing again up top, the defence for the first time in years is a solid enough unit, Scotty Wharton is a top player and even better that he’s one of our own. It’s not panic stations yet as luckily we’ve got ourselves in to a position where we could afford a run like this, a win Saturday will reignite the top six push and I’d be tempted to go to the 433 and really go at Millwall. Keep the faith lads.
