  1. Not sure you can really compare the Barnsley of last season to this especially when Ismael has only been in charge for like 6 games, 4 of which they've won. Very tough test this, they'll be unpredictable as the manager is still tinkering and experimenting. It'll make a nice change for Mowbray to even be able to pick an unchanged side should he want to as injuries have had their say far too much lately. I think we're at the point now where we probably have 7/8 must start players (increasing when Dack and Travis are back). After that there's not many players that will attract moans and groans if picked. Bennett and Evans obviously out of the equation at this moment in time, Gallagher perhaps not the most popular pick but even he redeemed himself last night. I don't think he'd consider Bell unless of course Douglas picked up an injury between now and Sunday, fingers crossed he doesn't as he played well and looked a bit sharper last time out. I'm calling a 2-0 win. Armstrong right on the stroke of half time, followed by an open game with some squeaky bum moments, Dolan off the bench to notch a second late on.
  2. What a bloody shame nights like tonight he hasn't got the fans singing his name, cos he sure as hell deserves it. And slowly some of the doubters are starting to believe ?
  3. Well I doubt you'll see a more one sided game all season, hard to believe that was 2 teams from the same division. Granted they have some injury issues but so do bloody we. I watched it with Preston commentary and they were very complimentary to Holtby and Brereton and rightly so, nobody can come away with bad marks tonight. I must admit I give Gallagher some grief but he was effective against them tonight and its a shame his goal was chalked off. Preston fans who don't see much of him must think he's a class act after last season as well! Now can we PLEASE not piss about and get a decent run going here?
  4. I'm not sure he's up for it at the moment. His best pal died recently and he must still be in bits
  5. I have a fair few vhs videos of 1995 season including VE day and the victory parade at Ewood etc at my dads, will happily share
  6. He was good against Swansea tbf till he came off. I don't think the balance ever looks right without Holtby though if I'm honest, or, eventually Trav
  7. Is that the full extent of your post match summary Chaddy? ? Gallagher does look more useful as a sub tbh, maybe sitting watching games beforehand let's him see where he can nip in for a goal.
  8. Wasn't a spectacle, but it happens every single time after internationals and not sure why i ever expect any different. Many poor games. Glad to see Brereton giving it both barrels to the ref, he would never have done that last season and just accepted it with a wimper . The coverage was so crap I lost interest in parts. Must do better on Tuesday, hopefully we will without their cup final fans in attendance.
  9. The camera work was diabolical, its hard to believe that's acceptable at championship level.
  10. Post International game week always throws up some unexpected results across the board so expect a crazy day folks. I guess we're slightly fortunate we haven't had that many players off on duty but it does often disrupt momentum especially after a good performance last time out. Luton like ourselves have inconsistency this season, 3 wins in their last 8 compared to our 2 although you'd argue we had tougher fixtures, their wins came against Rotherham, Sheff W and whipping boys Wycombe. They don't score many, in fact in those last 8 games they have only managed to score more than 1 goal on 1 occasion, again against Wycombe. I do think they'll fancy their chances, let's not forget they did the double over us last season. This however will work in our favour. I envisage Armstrong, big Ben and Elliott causing real problems today and it'll simply be too much for Luton. 3-1 Rovers. If anyone fancies a flutter this weekend then the bookies have spurs at like 4/1 which is bonkers, double that with Leicester for around 14/1.
  11. Nyambe pulled out injured, not sure how serious but we're gonna need Douglas and Bell to get back up to speed pretty darn quick now you'd imagine. Both played 45 mins today I believe.
  12. He got clattered a few times, didn't look a very friendly friendly! Seemed to be walking freely at the end of the game though and good to see some of his team mates there on the sidelines in support ?
  13. Filbert Street was a right dive, if you were anywhere near the front you were literally below pitch level. The battered old roof was leaking all over the place too.
  14. Its only 10 days isolation ain't it so should be OK for our next game? Assuming he's not actually very poorly of course.
  15. Sheff Wednesday have binned Monk off, tough job for someone to take in that....
  16. Its absolutely no coincidence that Elliott on Tuesday, with quite frankly less able team mates around him, was poor. With Rothwell, Brereton, Armstrong and to an extent Johnson round him he looked a class act. Its easy to forget this lad usually trains with the likes of Sadio Mane etc. We must hope and pray Armstrong stays fit now, throw Dack in the mix and something pretty special is possible.
  17. He's 10 times better with Armstrong around him and I'm salivating at the thought of Brereton, Armo, Dacky and Elliott in the same team if possible
  18. Yeah I watched it on qpr commentatory. Sounded like 2 gimps who usually watch tennis and polo. In fairness, if an opposition fan listened to our lot they'd lose the will to live too.
  19. Its just a shame he's not had chance to form an understanding with Ayala and a.n other but theres certainly signs of a solid keeper there.
  20. Almost a flip reversal of Tuesday so far. Boro were scratching their heads as to how they didn't score then, now its our turn. This is much much better though and hopefully we find the breakthrough. Wharton needs to calm down a bit before trying to pick a pass he's been a bit erratic thus far.
  21. I'd be half tempted to start with Armstrong even if not fully fit and see how he gets on. He's got 2 weeks off anyway after today to get 100%. The alternative is definitely to play 442. I know Mowbrays stubborn as anything but even he must be going to try something different today surely? In the interest of positivity, it can't be as bad as Tuesday night today can it? Watched a bit of the dingles last night and they looked equally as clueless with zero goal threat.
  22. Its not a must win game, thats a ridiculous statement given how many games are left to play and the erratic form of quite frankly most teams in the league/country! It most certainly is a "must play 10 times better than Tuesday" game for TM or he's going to lose a lot more sympathisers. If he's going to insist on playing Gallagher then play 442 and have either JRC/Chapman/Elliott at least getting some crosses in the box. If he lines up the same as Tuesday night there's a fair chance of the remote getting launched through the TV.
