He's been lowballed initially, changed agent and they've asked for big money, the usual stand off has happened, Broughton has left and its been shelved. SwagHail have eyed a bit of compo and the chance to swerve handing out a good contract. And here we are another asset worth a few million off on another sideways journey.

Hard to be sure but my interpretation of the last 15yrs is the only leverage that's had a modicum of success is when the family name (and to a lesser extent brand name) is brought into things, particularly on a stage likely to be seen in India. I genuinely believe that this tactic, combined with non-confrontational engagement has the best chance of creating meaningful change.

Venkys have no control as to whether they get granted a No Objection Certificate. The bonds are a condition of the certificate being granted. The court cases are them fighting back against this. It is not as simple as them just paying a bond to send money over. There are both external and internal impediments to them sending over funds. None of these facts absolve them of responsibility in any way. If it's that much of a bother to them then they should sell up and fuck off.
