  1. Past hour
  2. "you've got a wee gem there" is a quote that should never be forgotten when assessing Nixons' opinions on football.
  3. Coleman would probably be the final straw breaking the camels back for this club and ownership.
  4. It won't be Chris Coleman.... It just can't be 😂 The Leicester and Rovers links are surely just an agent trying his best. I'm taking no notice of the odds. Eustace aside (which was clearly already done), we've never appointed an early favourite. Coyle, TM, JDT and VI all were obscure or real outsiders when the conversations started (I think)
  5. Dear god no! Here's a Brighton fan view https://www.wearebrighton.com/newsopinion/what-went-wrong-for-brighton-and-sami-hyypia/ Quote from the article "And that kind of sums up Hyypia’s Reign of Terror. Bad recruitment. Tactics ill-suited to the Championship. Stubbornness to the point of delusion." Sounds like a Scandi version of VI
  6. Coleman has a 29% win rate (Coventry) and 17% (Sunderland) so absolutely not what we want or need. Wagner or Hassenhuttl would be first two on my list. Thought we’d have a poll by now!
  7. This probably sounds daft to some but our biggest enemy tonight might be complacency against a struggling Wednesday who have been further depleted by injury. The game over there in December was an example of what I mean as we looked like turning up would be enough, particularly after a really good result at Middlesbrough a few days before. In pretty much every home game this season we have started really slowly with very little intensity and generally let the opposition grow into the game at their own pace, a bit like playing with the handbrake on. I get playing like that away but for me it was a real failing by Ismael and directly contributed to our abysmal home record. The exception was Millwall when a quick start and early goal gave us a foothold in the game and something to work with. Damien Johnson needs to be bold with both selection and tactics and get at them from the kick off. An early goal will settle everyone down.
  8. Still had 2 wins in 13 matches before Southampton sacked him so he would be an upgrade on Ismael Seriously, who wants any of those contenders? Duds the lot of them
  9. Was watching that incident with Bowyer and Dyer this morning lol mad times they were
  10. Wagner has a pretty decent record overall. Rowett too if you take Oxford out of the equation. Coleman on the other hand....
  11. They've spent a fortune.
  12. Alarming people still don't 'get' odds on the next Blackburn manager market..... For Coleman there's a link to Adam Owen, assumptions being made.....
  13. Someone turn the lights off on the way out if its Chris Coleman.
  14. come back to Lancs, Will...
  15. Tbh I’ve long since resigned myself to relegation this season - and tbh, given that Gestede is likely to still be in charge and therefore there’s no chance of us signing 5 or 6 decent Championship-standard players in the summer, it will probably be a blessing as next season would be even more of a struggle than this has been. So therefore, in my opinion, we need to be looking to appoint someone with an eye to getting us promoted next season. The best option I’ve seen named so far is Mercer’s suggestion of Chalinor - but that’s far too sensible and so I can’t see them going for him (plus I’m not sure he’d want it) Personally, I’d love to see someone like Duff, or even Robbie Savage who’s done well at Macclesfield & FGR. Hell, I’d even take Sherwood - it’d just be nice to feel some connection with the club again tbh - but again I can’t see any of those happening. The rest of the names mentioned are just depressing tbh - the likes of Rowett, Coleman, Wagner etc - managers with long lists of failures and the odd bright spot who somehow keep getting jobs despite all the evidence pointing to the fact that they’re not very good. 100% it’s going to be one of those
  16. Well I was convinced that Val was here for the long haul, alignment and all that. The fact that he's gone on deadline day suggests to me that it was something that has happened recently, maybe the loss against Hull was the final straw or maybe the lack of incomings pushed Val over the limit? Either way, I was totally wrong 🤪
  17. My first thought upon seeing Chris Coleman mentioned was that he has worked with Steve Kean. Forget him being a former player here. It is his association with Kean that has my radar going. Which other Championship jobs has Chris Coleman been linked with recently? I genuinely don't know.
  18. It is possible , he still has links with Gestede !
  19. Chris Coleman as mentioned as the favourite on the last page would be a laughable appointment. Wonder if he would bring his old assistant from his Fulham days. Steve Kean.
  20. Depressing looking at their squad now versus our own - chalk and cheese for a team actually backing a successful manager at the right timing (imagine if we did the same for JDT or Eustace!) Agyemang, Brereton, Szmodics, Bobby Clark, Carlton Morris - any of those 5 would instantly be our best attacking option. I think they've built the best squad outside of parachute payment clubs and Coventry to be honest.
  21. The only way you’d make money on DeNeve is to sell his body parts on the dark web !
  22. Amass left there to go on loan to Norwich a few days ago. Since then he's picked up an injury and is headed back to United for assessment.
  23. I think it is probably going to be one from three agencies they have been familiar with over the past 15 years. Miller mentioned the main one to look out for last night in HSH. The other two are Unique (Val's agency) and SMI. Looking at the managers the three of those represent, I'll take a guess and say I expect to see the following in the running/linked by the press: 1) Any from the HSH list. I think there's a possibility Sami Hyypia is being considered for the role. There has been a Liverpool flavour here for a long while, plus Vignal (former Liverpool) has only recently joined the club. Hyypia managed Brighton in the past too, so if anybody behind the scenes has deluded visions of the 'Brighton model' (which this lot could never replicate), then Hyypia could be a shout. 2) Will Still (Unique). Currently available. 3) Marti Cifuentes (Unique). Currently available. 4) Lee Bowyer (SMI). Currently available. 5) Aitor Karanka. His agency is FIA, but he has been linked with the Rovers job in the past and his previous Boro connection makes him a possibility, IMO. He is currently in some kind of Technical Development role with the Spanish National team. Would he leave that to come here? Hmm, maybe. This might be his only route back into the Championship/English football for now. I think Cifuentes and Will Still are going to be out of reach. The former is said to be wanted by Watford. Will Still might feel that he can do better and wait for another opportunity. Number (4) is my guy feeling as to who it will be.
