[Archived] 10 man Everton 1-0 Rovers

Recommended Posts

Note: I did want to get one of my Everton-supporting friends to answer a few questions about next week's game, but I haven't been able to get hold of him. Bah. And since, unlike Colin, I don't have the email address of any celebrity blues handy, I've had to go without. If I get hold of him over the weekend I'll add it to this.

Colin could email Adrian again and ask for a contact address for John Parrot? biggrin.gif

I'm hoping Rovers can get something a bit special...purely because it'd the first Rovers away game I've managed to get to for two years...and that was at Goodison too!

A repeat of that day will be perfect...Everton 0 Rovers 1 with Stead scor...whoops, let's have Kuqi scoring this time then! tongue.gif

3-1 to Rovers - Everton have no forwards unless BT makes it, Bellamy / Pongo should outpace their leaden defence. I would give Tugay, Todd & MGP a rest - are Rovers jetting of for a sunshine break this year? - should do them all good for the European push if they are.

Just take a look at any website like the official site, bbc, sky or whatever and look at fixtures/results and it should give you all of the information you need.

they don't really need a rest as they have had 7 days to recoup.

the only thing they could be suffering from is mentally fatigued(sp)

we have had alot of games over the past weeks and maybe a holiday in the sun will boost morale in the camp even further and sort us out to make a big big push for europe so we can all go on tour next season!!! biggrin.gif

This is a key match as to how the rest of the season will pan out. IF we can win - it will put breathing space between us and Everton (who will only be a point behind if they win).

If we can then couple that with a win over Sunderland the following Wednesday - european dreams are back on again biggrin.gif

Everton don't seem to be playing well - but seem to have the knack of bringing teams down to their level - and then grinding out 1-0 wins (much as they did last season).

Personally I would start with Reid and Savage - replacing one of them in the second half with Tugay (when their midfield has run out of a little steam and are less likely to close him down). I would also like to see Emo given a run out - and if Bellamy or Pongo aren't fit I would player MGP up front and Peters on the left.

A lot depends on which forwards are available - but I think we have an edge over them - and it is a while since MGP scored a goal - so 2-1 to Rovers please

does anybody know if SFP and Bellers are fit for Saturday because we need them back urgently i know SFP came on against West Brom but he did not look 100%

I dunno but Bellamy will definately not start. He will only be about 70% fit if available, but don't be suprised if we're waiting a few more weeks before we see him again on the pitch.

Encouraging news on Pongolle in this article on the LET site:

http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/lancashi...rt/ROVERS0.html

"I was ill last week but I've got myself fit. Now it's up to the manager to decide," said Pongolle.

Was sent this, may be of interest:

The truth about Per Kroldrup

Apparently Moyes signed Kroldrup without going to

see him himself, took the advice of a european scout

working for the club. A £5.1 million bid was lodged

and Udinese the Italian club who Kroldrup was

playing for couldn't believe their luck and

immediately accepted Everton's bid.

Only after the player was signed and all the

neccessary paperwork had been completed, and the

player himself had completed his first training

session with his new team mates did Moyes begin to

smell a rat.

Moyes was apparently totally unimpressed with what

he had seen and it was only then after he made

enquiries with the scout that it dawned on him.

Everton had signed the WRONG player!!!

The player the scout had watched had been Kroldrup's

centre-back partner!

This was why the Everton bid was immediately

successful and they (Udinese)were it has been

reported, totally amazed with the size of the bid.

So, Moyes now had a problem, he had a centre-back he

knew was not good enough for the Premiership, he

also needed to off-load him and get back if possible

the club's £5.1 million.

How was he going to do this without losing face with

the Everton fans. The first thing he did was report

to the press that Kroldrup was injured, he did in

fact have a slight injury but not enough to keep him

out for 3 months ,which is what happened.

Eventually through pressure from local phone-ins,

fan groups and local and national press asking

questions about this £5.1 million invisible man, and

also because of the club's injury list, Weir was

injured etc, he eventually had to play him against

Villa at Villa Park.

It was there that David Moyes worst fears were

realised, Kroldrup had a stinker, was out of his

depth and Moyes knew it.

The problem now was that other managers had now seen

Kroldrup's non-performance so there was no chance of

them getting back their £5.1 million- and he knew

it.

It has been recently reported that Florentina have

put in a bid for £3.6 million, my source tells me

that is in fact bull, they have offered Everton 1

million Euros- which is approximately £700,000.

An agreement has been reached with Florentina to

release to the media that the figure is £3.6

million, mainly, to save face at Everton Football

Club.

So, there you have it, mismanagement on a grand

scale which goes to show how EFC went from being

called the Mersey Millionaires in the sixty's to the

total shambles which the club is today.

Moyes apparently blames Chief Executive Wyness, he

blames the european scout, others within the club

blame Chairman Bill Kenwright.

Crikey, thats a bit depressing.

Hmm... I guess it is Bentley up top then and probably Emerton wide right.

It seems we have a lot riding on Pongo over the next couple of weeks.

ps. That Everton stuff sounds plausible but aprat from that it hasn't really got anything for it. ANybody could have used the available infomation and come up with that story.

Moyes strikes me as far too canny to buy a player off a video, especially at 5m quid.

Perhaps the Danes on here can say whether 5 million was an accurate valuation at the time?

The Kroldrup story is a wind-up of anybody who wants to believe it.

Fiorentina paid £3m and rising for him but of course they have no idea about Serie A football and are utterly clueless about which centre half is which...

The BS quotient about who is fit, who is not fit, who is playing, who is on the bench etc etc seems very high at the moment Messrs S, P and others.

Speculation is fine, presenting it as though you know is simply a route to the ignore button.

some players are just not made for the premiership.

there is no way everton would pay 5.1m on a player they seen on a video or a scouting report.

that sounds like something off dream team or mike bassett tongue.gif
