philipl Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I had just thought Pompey away was the worst possible draw in the bag when: Luton Town v Everton Portsmouth v Blackburn Rovers Chelsea v Leicester City Sheffield United v Arsenal Tottenham Hotspur v Blackpool Bolton Wanderers v Manchester City Coventry City v West Ham United Liverpool v Cardiff City

Wolves_Rover Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Tough draw. If we're still in the UEFA by this stage then I don't really see us progressing.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I think it's a great draw. Only a few miles down the road from me! Also we've got to beat the top clubs to be winners and we could get a lot of confidence from beating Pompey away. We've beaten them before at Fratton so I don't see why we can't do it again.
bblue Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Rubbish indeed. Long travel all the way to the South for a game which will be tough. I'm Curious how Hughes will treat this.
SAS Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 rubbish although we still have a good chance harry will rest mostof his team i bet
Sandiway Blue Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 I think it is a perfect opportunity for Rovers to exact revenge over Pompey after inflicting our first defeat, which should be enough for Rovers to want to prove a point and put in a top performance. Lets hope Benni,MGP and co are firing on all cylinders by then!
Sandiway Blue Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 it could have been the ba$tards Thay were frightened of playing us!
Eddie Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Could have been much worse, only really unfortunate thing is that there aren't more all-premiership ties.
OJRovers Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Chelsea again - a) at home and B ) against lower league opposition!
Ben-2000 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Chelsea again - a) at home and B ) against lower league opposition! Who knows what will happen, Chelsea are on a poor run at the moment Apparently Fulham had 2 or 3 chances to nick it towards the end. And as for our tie... What a game down at Fratton Park... The most goals ever scored in a Premier League game.
modes98 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Awful draw and just as i said "not blackburn" we came out of the bag. Fix, Fix i tell you!
American Rover12 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 We absolutely git shafted on that draw, terrible.
frosty Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 What a depressing draw. 4th worst we could have had. Just a coincedence the Big 3 got lower league teams again?
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 "Ooh ouch hot hot, for gods sake Lawro just microwave the balls next time!"
Mr. E Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 one of the toughest draws we could have gotten.
bluebruce Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Absolutely typical. First I read there were only two all Prem games, and I KNEW one of them would be us. Lo and behold! Pompey away! Worst thing is even if we beat them we're almost certain to play a Prem team in the next round too. This is getting ridiculous. Chelsea get ridiculously easy home ties almost all the time in all domestic cups, and we are constantly getting either Prem teams or away fixtures, usually both. I believe in coincidences, but I don't trust them when they're at this level. I'm starting to genuinely wonder whether some of those upstairs are worried we might take one of the big boys out if we get to the later stages. We've got the worst draw of all the Prem teams in the draw.
Jordan Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 What an awful draw for the fans however I game which I feel we can progress in. Looks like the Spuds game will be moved to Sunday therefore I imagine this game will be played on the Tuesday. Will be staying over in Portsmouth I think as driving down and back in one day will be too knackering.

Will be staying over in Portsmouth I think as driving down and back in one day will be too knackering. I think it's a good draw.It gives us a chance to beat them ,and put the record straight. Mind you, what sort of side Sparky puts out will probably be determined by the result of the Larrissa game.If we go out of europe, then I should assume we'll be going all out to win the Carling Cup.If we win on Thursday, and get to the group stages, then I should imagine we won't field a strong team against Pompey.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 £25 a ticket. Nice to see Portsmouth doing the opposite to what Rovers do and decide they don't want a decent crowd. On a dark, cold wednesday night, i've got a feeling that this will not be a sell out!
1864roverite Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 A totally pathetic effort by the pompy board in pricing the game at full ticket price, its a sad sad price policy. Pompy will be lucky to have 200 visiting fans and they will not sell out their home allocation. As for the game being Wednesday, its a right royal pain in the rear with a very long drive in prospect.
BRFC4EVA Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Total and utter rubbish. Should boycott that pathetic pricing structure. Are they completely mad? Was thinking of maybe making the long journey south-they can gtf now!
