Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Well if it's obvious, what is it? No idea lol, not seen him on youtube. Genuinely, at Partizan he looked a more than useful box to box midfielder, who weighed in with a few goals. He doesn't seem to be allowed to push forward with us, so maybe he's not used to the deeper role. Hope he picks up as on paper, he seemed to be the best of the young mediocre signings we made.

den Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 You shouldn't be judging the lad at this stage, he's still getting used to the speed of the game over here. He may well turn out to be poor, lets face it we didn't break the bank for him in the grand scheme of things, but judge him next season when he's had time to adapt. You don't need a year to see whether he has the technique, pace, stamina etc, Gav. I mean we could all see [well most of us] that Goulon didn't have it after 10 minutes as a sub. Whether he can adjust to this league is another matter of course. What do you see in his technique that suggests he has the quality needed?
Makey11 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Petrovic already looks ten times better than N'Zonzi. 100% agree. All nzonzi does is turn and pass back to defence! I I think in the few matches petrovic has played he's attempted more forward passes than nzonzi has in his whole carear! The lads clearly nervous and lacking confidence... Look at hoilet when he first started playing... He was getting slated! All he needs is a goal or a moment of magic to get the players and the fans behind him. He's scored wonder goals at international level.... So clearly there is ability there!

Nzonzi might play the ball backwards and sideways a lot but at least his positioning is okay and he blocks off attackers. Petrovic is so slow that he just gets left for dead. Petrovic is a player we cannot afford to have in the team at the moment, defensively as well as offensively. Need to be dropped for Simon, Rochina or Formica.

I agree Nzonzi looked sharp and broke up a decent amount of play yesterday. Als on the ball he never gives it away, its really up to Hoilett, Olssen and another (Dunn, Formica) to be the offensive. Petrovic was slow, could not tackle and too slow on the ball. Clumsey really
Mercer Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Had my doubts about Petro in his very first game at Ewood and voiced them on here. Okay, he's a foreigner and they take time to adapt but to be honest, he has shown very, very little. His slowness and inability to turn will not get any better !!! Described by Kean as having everything....................hmmmm. IMV, Kean hasn't made a signing who has made any sort of ongoing impact. Again, IMV, his record in the transfer market stinks for many reasons.

I seem to recall you saying the same about Rochina after a couple of games den, and without doubt that lads got tallent, but he still needs time to develop. Not saying Petrovic is going to be a world beater, but its to early to judge him. Kean doesn't help the matter though, as mercerman says he's 'bigged him up' which is just stupid, extremely poor management and puts pressure on the player from the off.
deazel Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 So far he has been absolutely appalling every time he has appeared for us. Has hardly put a foot right, as far as I am concerned.
tcj_jones Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 This guy is utter garbage. That bit where he found himself with the ball at his feet, near the half way line, with acres of space and under no pressure whatsoever. He dwelt on the ball, turned backward, and passed it less than 5 foot to N'Zonzi / Lowe (I forget which), who then passed it all the way back to the keeper. Embarrassing. Oh, and that bit when he actually DUCKED a header half way inside our half! Jesus wept. Oh, one final thing. To the person who posed the question who was better: Andrews or Petrovic. Right now, I'd probably say Andrews. However, that doesn't mean I want him back, not for a second - I don't want either.
Tony Diamond Inc Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Too early to judge a 22 year old coming into, arguably the fastest league in the world. That doesn't mean I think we should be playing him week in, week out, this will just shatter his (fragile) confidence.
grizfoot Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I'm still trying to workout what is role is in a midfield three. He was neither really holding nor attacking,

Described by Kean as having everything....................hmmmm. IMV, Kean hasn't made a signing who has made any sort of ongoing impact. Again, IMV, his record in the transfer market stinks for many reasons. Kean has made one very good signing- Jermaine Jones. Arguably kept us up. That he has not signed anyone to fill the void when he finished his loan spell has been utterly terrible. For Petrovic to make it for us he is going to either need to find some pace from somewhere or show good positioning and passing ability - be a carrick style player. The first is not going to happen as you don't just find pace down the back of the sofa. The latter is possible if it is a confidence problem rather than a lack of ability. We can only live in hope. No matter what he does he needs he needs to be more aggressive and more commanding. Otherwise he has no chance at all. Same goes for Nzonzi.
Brfcrule1 Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 I think people are being very harsh on the young bloke for Serbia yes yesterday he was labouring a lot but don't forget according to football first Kean was playing a 4-3-2-1 which is hard to figure out what he was doing. Everyone knows Petrovic is a defensive midfielder where he plays in a 4-2-3-1 & protecting the back 4 even in the champs league against Arsenal for Belgrade his tackling was good. For Serbia his tackling is good not at all slow IMO as I have stated Kean has set his team up wrong and until that changes this team will struggle. I also find when Salgado charges up top and loses the ball & doesn't get back Petrovic seems to be covering his RB slot which is incredibly hard to do as he is more of a central player. Although it is not a critcism of salgado & yes his distribution was poor yesterday but given he was part of a champs lge team in Partizan Belgrade and a full Serbian international and one who does well in the tackle I am convinced he will improve. Also yesterday the clown played the wrong formation expecting him to be a box to box midfielder in an alien formation would be asking too much of any decent player.I also feel yesterday was the chance to go for the jugular QPR were there for the taking and think Vucevic/Rochina/Formica should have been brought on.
daveoftherovers Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 FFS!!!!---that's what I got when I said he didn't look much cop in his first couple of games. He hasn't improved and he is currently no better than Andrews was. Julie has a LONG time to improve, under 3 (?) managers, Petro hasn't worked for one yet!
hesfromburn Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I think this guy showed at last he could make it. In the 1st half his positioning and reactions were poor but samba pulled him up and shouted at him and he got better from there as the game went on. He was our main link to attack in extra time and his passing was consistantly good.
frosty Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Yeah, better yesterday. Will still need to improve but now there is some hope that he'll come good.
47er Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I'm still trying to workout what is role is in a midfield three. He was neither really holding nor attacking, Put him down as a spectator.
chris Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 he has a lot to prove, let's wait and see, he's been terrible at the start of the season, he looks so uncomfortable, really need to adapt and hopefully quickly. Needs to be quicker, if it's possible.
alexanders Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 100% agree. All nzonzi does is turn and pass back to defence! He should have finished that game off !
Backroom Tom Posted December 7, 2011 Backroom Posted December 7, 2011 Why is he so crap? I don't get it. I don't know but he is at the minute He can hit a ball hard I'll give him that
alexanders Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Can anyone confirm whether his great run from midfield and some dribbling inside the box (couldve and shouldve passed to formica?) was against Norwich? He also has great feet such as Tugay. Actually he reminds me a little bit of Tugay,
Sparky Marky Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 This lad aint a bad player. And to criticise his pace when we have cloggers like dunn on the pitch ahead of him just beggars belief. Id take him over pie boy anyday.
Majiball Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 So another eastern european brought straight from there is having issues finding his feet, shocker.
alexanders Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 So another eastern european brought straight from there is having issues finding his feet, shocker. How we have to do it and should have with dzeko for example
