LeChuck Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Portsmouth were not good but not awful under Grant in my humble opinion. They would have been relegated regardless of the points deduction though. Grant's biggest problem is that he can't organise a defensive unit. West Ham were an absolute shambles at the back last season, and they had arguably better personnel to choose from than we do now. Teams were just able to walk through their midfield, and that was when he could pick from the likes of Parker and Hitzlesperger. How would he cope with Dunn and Pedersen? I just can't understand for a minute why any team in the relegation zone would look at a manager who has been relegated twice in two years and think "that's the man we need!". I can't think of a single reason.

Would've thought Curbs would be higher.
John Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Are the bookies taking into account that we have the weirdest owners in the league who don't want to spend a penny on the club?
DanLad Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Next Blackburn Manager Odds with Stan James – 19/12/2011 – 2/1 – Mark Hughes 5/2 – Rafa Benitez 7/2 – Alan Shearer 6/1 – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer 8/1 – Martin O’Neill 8/1 – Steve Bruce 10/1 – Walter Smith 10/1 – Alan Curbishley 10/1 – Sven Goran Eriksson 10/1 – Carlo Ancelotti 14/1 – Dave Jones 14/1 – Roy Keane Roy Keane! Can't stand the chap, but it'd be worth it just to see him kick Venky's backsides!

Bluefudge Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I'd take Keith Hill........ Anyone pleAse, just anyone will do !!!!!
Majiball Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Are the bookies taking into account that we have the weirdest owners in the league who don't want to spend a penny on the club? Not at all and if Von Greenbacks not on there, then surely he's worth a cheeky flutter as he's the cheapest option by far.
LeftWinger Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Not at all and if Von Greenbacks not on there, then surely he's worth a cheeky flutter as he's the cheapest option by far. Grant is 10/1 Best bet is surely Dave Jones at 14/1. No club and SEM/Kentaro client.

Don't they know he's got a job now?
Neil Weaver Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Let's face it, nobody who might come in will save us from relegation. So it's pointless and potentially expensive (if he has to be paid off) to chase a top name. I'd settle for a Curbishley who I THINK would be willing to try to get us promoted and wouldn't be a total embarrassment for the rest of this season. Questions though - would he be cheap enough, willing to work with the Venky's idiots, move north, take on the 'challenge' of getting us out of the Championship? Having asked that of Curbishley, who would accept those provisos I wonder?
Makey11 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Looking at them odds some people could make a fortune on our next manager! Weve got to get rid of cock head first though..
Blackburn Ender Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Consider the prospect of Kean being sacked tomorrow or Wednesday and the Chicken Lickers not bothering to appoint a new manager. Just promote the No. 2 or No. 3.
rovers11 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Looking at them odds some people could make a fortune on our next manager! Weve got to get rid of cock head first though.. Who's your money on?
bestierover Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Consider the prospect of Kean being sacked tomorrow or Wednesday and the Chicken Lickers not bothering to appoint a new manager. Just promote the No. 2 or No. 3. Could it be any worse than what we have?
Hasta Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Best bet is surely Dave Jones at 14/1. No club and SEM/Kentaro client. Would be a huge improvement over this clown. About as good as we can hope for tbh.
Makey11 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Who's your money on? 1 manager on that list (curbishly), others nowhere near. But think very cheap and been out of football for a long time.
Waggy76 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Consider the prospect of Kean being sacked tomorrow or Wednesday and the Chicken Lickers not bothering to appoint a new manager. Just promote the No. 2 or No. 3. They have done that before !
winstonsmith Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Best bet is surely Dave Jones at 14/1. No club and SEM/Kentaro client. Please be wrong about this ! I really think my life long love affair with Rovers could finally be over if they even considered appointing another SEM/Kentaro client.
John Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Jones has always struck me as a creepy type of person, would hope for better.
Darwen Rover Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Benitez till the end of the season for me...
davulsukur Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 Curbs or Hughes i'd say. Hughes would probably only sign on till the end of the season. Grant or Shearer would be a disaster.
AJW Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 interesting sub-plot do venkys appoint someone to keep us up or appoint someone for life in the championship?
