Not sure why it was closed but there was a good deal of bitterness surfacing on the last thread by far. Predictable though it always is! taking candy off babies /spurned brides at the alter and all that.

Lets apply a bit of reason here.....

Truth is that Samba has been a colossus and inspiration for us on many occasions and we've seen his character displayed on many occasions. He like us was promised the earth last January and he's seen it all become just one lie after another. Unlike us he can be paid just as much if not more elsewhere with a club that is going places and not one that is providing disappointment and dismay to him on a daily basis. He is a fighter and a winner but there comes a time when he has come to the conclusion that he is simply flogging a dead horse here. Losing match after match hurts players like Samba as much if not more than it hurts the supporters. Allardyce's sacking followed by Williams departure, followed by Jones's sale and the non replacement of Jermaine Jones will have shown him the direction the club was heading backed up by crap buys through the summer and the slumdogs strange decision to stick with the manager. Add to that the reluctance of Hoilett to pen a new deal, Barclays mistrust of the owners and the very real threat of the players wages not being paid and there really is no decision for him to make. Venkeys havealready made it.

btw Degsy have you not heard of melanoma? I'd rather stick pins in my eyes than cope with 39C every day. You just throw another prawn on the barbie and make sure you eat it quick before the flies do. ;)

If he is actually refusing to play for us then we don't really have a choice. It's decent money, it's not to a rival and it shows that his desire to leave isn't related to footballing issues, but instead because he can see a big payday.

Hey, he gets to play with Roberto Carlos and Samuel Eto'o.

Refusing to play is surely a breach of contract or something? Wouldn't we be able to sack him and claim alot of compensation out of it?

Seem to remember someone on here posting something along those lines?

So to some, this is another good deal to match the Jones good deal? Add to all the other good deals we've done lately and over the last couple of seasons - then let's come back to have another look next season.

Some fans never, ever learn.

Sorry state of affairs!

He may have wanted to progress in his career and no-one can ever blame him for that, but you have to wonder whether he would have acted like this had the club been still run properly. You wonder if anyone has even talked to Samba about the situation. Only really Kean would have chance to make contact with him (we don't have a chairman) and I wouldn't be surprised if Kean has just completely ignored him for 2 months.

Samba has been forced into drastic action after he was promised so much just 13 months ago! His agent would have been in his hear telling him what to do, and I feel that Samba in the end was backed into such a corner that he had to turn to this action to get out of the club!

He owes us nothing.. He has given everything to Blackburn Rovers in the last 5 years, I'm just sorry that he couldn't leave on a better note than this

The place is a shambles and an embarassment!

Never good to lose our best players, especially when they can't/won't be replaced-

but we couldnt't have expected to get much more money than this for Samba from any English club....

All the money already gone ?

"The deal does carry some good news for Rovers fans who may be loath to lose one of the club's best players, the money raised from the sale will allow the club to all but settle their outstanding Barclays Bank issue which has been an ongoing problem for months now.The sale allows Venky's to cover all major issues at Rovers until the summer and means they don't have to dip into their own pockets to finance any outstanding payments such as the cash owed to Dundee United for David Goodwillie (heaven forbid)."

What a stupid article.

How is it good news for Rovers fans that, instead of dipping into their pockets, Venky's have sold our captain to finance debt?

Let's not forget that we had a 20m debt before Venky's took over, which it appears Barclays have called in. While I would have preferred Venky's pay it themselves, it would have taken their spending on the club to 50m in less than a season, and clearing our debt is all I care about as far as finances are concerned.

If this repayment means we are now debt free, financial issues are sorted and we can somehow avoid relegation than that will be a great result for our club.

Whatever happens after, whether with these owners or new ones, we are in a more stable position to push on.
