sharpysharps Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 If what the LT are saying that Rovers are certain to get £750k then that is fnatastic business for us for a player we paid nothing for and was probably not one of the higher earners at the club. Hopefully this bit of money will help PL out in this last week of the transfer window.

Salgado Is Still A Hero Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Olsson gone to Derby, Telegraph reckons we are guaranteed £750k maybe up to £1m Fantastic money if true Presuambly that's based on whether or not they go up.
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2016 Backroom Posted January 26, 2016 Adebayor finalising a deal to Palace, we should try a late enquiry to take Gayle on loan next week if nobody goes in for him
chaddyrovers Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Hopefully we will a left back in before the weekend?
Neal Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Palace have a few that they're surely willing to let go... Campbell, Gayle and a few centre mids that are decent too.
JBiz Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 http://www.rovers.co.uk//news/article/markus-olsson-derby-county-blackburn-rovers-2922276.aspx It's a really good deal for the club? I agree we could've lost him for nothing, but surely keeping him on a long term deal would've been a "really good deal" for the club? People may have opinions on his ability - but over 100 games, can play anywhere on left, pretty much in his prime? If we can replace with better for a fraction of the cost - that would be a really good deal.
Lancaster Rover Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Gayle along with every other available striker in the world is going to Swansea, allegedly. Not to become Evertons favourite loan club but the kid Galloway would be worth a loan now that he is out in the cold following Baines return to fitness.
tomphil Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Olsson has signed a 3 and a half year deal so no wonder his head was turned by that, can't blame him really it's probably set him for life. Can also understand Rovers not wanting to commit to that. A lot of their fans seem non plussed with Warnock and reckon Olsson will take over that spot pretty soon.

cesus Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I think Olsson has done well over the last couple of seasons, I would have liked him to stay but the last few weeks/ months the word from managers and the LT have been we've been unable to agree a deal. From pure guess work 3 years at Derby or 3 years at Rovers, financially would more than likely be more favourable at Derby. With the current state of finances here I'd say only a few players beyond youth players would be given 3 year + contracts and I'd say Olsson wouldn't have been one.
Lancaster Rover Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Warnock was poor last night, gave the ball away really cheaply in the lead up the one of the penalties last night.
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted January 26, 2016 Moderation Lead Posted January 26, 2016 For those figures I'm not surprised we sold him! I imagine we'll have been looking at replacements already if I'm honest, so sure we'll hear something in the next few days...
tomphil Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I'd take Warnock back I was going to say that as well, short term loan but I suppose in terms of finance it makes more sense to stick with Spurr and find a long term replacement. Warnock still has more about him than Spurr though imo. One I would bring back if it was possible would be Mark Bunn for no 1 and maybe get a few quid for one of the other keepers.
Pedro Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Sad to see Olsson go. I was cynical when we signed him but he won Player of the season on merit. Capable player, crap crosser.
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2016 Backroom Posted January 26, 2016 http://www.rovers.co.uk//news/article/markus-olsson-derby-county-blackburn-rovers-2922276.aspx It's a really good deal for the club? Veevs Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 In two minds about the Olsson deal, its good considering he would go for nothing in the summer, but I am sure he would of gone for more if he had of had a longer contract. He was probably our most consistent performer over the last few seasons (does not say much I know), and had pace though no passing or crossing ability.

Stuart Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I'd take Warnock back I was just thinking the exact same.
martonrover Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I wouldn't take Warnock back, (at this stage of his career). One slow left back is enough, thank you.
Backroom Tom Posted January 26, 2016 Backroom Posted January 26, 2016 Hmm was he not just the best of a bad bunch last season ? Maybe, the problem being the bad bunch got worse over the summer
patrickvalery Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I wouldn't touch Warnock either. Gave too many penalties away last time because he would find himself out of position and make a stupid lunge. Now he's even slower. Although maybe now he's that slow he wouldn't even get close with the lunge. So he could just give away goals and not penalties.
Pedro Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 I was just thinking the exact same. His legs have gone. Not a shadow of the player we had.
Mercer Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Warnock was poor last night, gave the ball away really cheaply in the lead up the one of the penalties last night. Wasted all his energy maniacally chewing gum and gazing into the Sky cameras whilst lining up in the tunnel pre match - Mr Big ! Seen him in a couple of recent Derby matches and those legs have gone, gone, gone. He just can't get back if he's caught up field when Derby lose possession - embarrassing.

RoverMinion Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 Marcus Olsson - Has pace, but lacks crossing ability and defence capability - Release (contract expires end of season) Said this about Marcus Olsson 9 days ago and stick by my comment. He has superb pace, but lacks a tackle, can't really head the ball and his crossing is poor at best.I would have been okay with releasing him at the end of the season. So to find out we got circa £750,000 for him has left me over the moon.If Derby want to take anymore of our League One quality squad players, they are more then welcome to.We are well on our way to getting rid of the lard that has left us so poor the last few seasons. With Olsson 'sold', and Tommy Spurr, Matthew Kilgallon, Nathan Delfouneso, Chris Brown, Lee Williamson, Chris Taylor and Sacha Petshi contracts expiring at the end of the season. Possibly some teams interested in Fodé Koita and Corry Evans. I don't see why the rebuilding of this team can't get going in full swing somewhat this month and in the Summer. Now we are out of the embargo and not hampered by huge contracts on overrated players, and have a good quality manager in charge. We really have the opportunity to build a decent team again and start again.
