had.e.nuff Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Interesting comments from Rhodes ahead of the game against us tomorrow: "I think everyone associated with Blackburn can see its a new era there. It's something new that's going on for the club and they're going in a different direction to one that Gary Bowyer was You just wonder if he did not fancy the hard work bit ,same with olsson what you dont need are players in the dressing room fighting against your ideas it can upset the rest of team
neophox Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Rhodes scored his first goal away at MK Dons to save a point for Boro.
Bucksrover Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Don't mind Rhodes doing well for boro - they go up and its a place Burnley don't get, and we get more cash.
Backroom Tom Posted February 9, 2016 Author Backroom Posted February 9, 2016 Thanks Jason helped us out there
Backroom DE. Posted February 9, 2016 Backroom Posted February 9, 2016 Another poor result for Boro, though. They're stumbling and leaving an open space for Burnley to crash though
ABBEY Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Gotta love life without Rhodes .. Gotta love all them goals from our amazing strikers ... Well the haters were bang on .. We are amazing without Rhodes and my oh my didn't we play well .
47er Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 Abbey mate,we were not playing well when we had him and he was one of the worst! No choice but to hang in there till the end of the season and reassess and rebuild. Disappointing on all fronts but that's how it is.
bigbrandjohn Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 "Jordan Rhodes, making his first home start since joining Middlesbrough from Blackburn in January, could have given his side an unassailable lead in the first half, as he squandered a host of chances." Just saying...
Backroom Tom Posted February 23, 2016 Author Backroom Posted February 23, 2016 Still has a better strike rate for his new club than most our strikers do here, only Graham and Delfounso have scored for the club
ABBEY Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Had an assist .. Which is more than brown has , just saying
oldjamfan1 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Still has a better strike rate for his new club than most our strikers do here, only Graham and Delfounso have scored for the club So he should, given the cost..... Does Watt not count as a striker by the way?
sambo Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Sounds like he played well. "Rhodes looks like a proper centre-forward.Good at everything and natural footballer.Had 4 great chances though & no goal...yet #borolive" He will get the goals, but Nugent's goal puts a bit of pressure on him.
arbitro Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I really hope we aren't going to have Rhodeswatch after every Middlesbrough game. I think we all know now where everybody stands with him and frankly it has got boring.

I think we all know now where everybody stands with him and frankly it has got boring. Not sure there is a problem is watching an ex-player to see how he is getting on? I'm looking for the Middlebrough scores at the moment. Are you meaning to say let's not have the should we shouldn't we debate after every Middlebrough match? If he scores, I told you so, if he fails to score, I told you so!

Your second sentence is what I meant. There is lots of posters using the fact he scored/missed, played well/bad to justify their opinions of him. I just think that aspect of him has been done to death.

There is lots of posters using the fact he scored/missed, played well/bad to justify their opinions of him. I just think that aspect of him has been done to death. I think you are right, he is going to score where ever he goes and I guess the more he gets this year the more money the club may get if they go up. So in that respect I'm not wanting him to fail. Plus he/they are head to head against that lot from down the road.
sambo Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I really hope we aren't going to have Rhodeswatch after every Middlesbrough game. I think we all know now where everybody stands with him and frankly it has got boring. I do agree, but then again this is a Jordan Rhodes thread, and it is interesting to see how players get on once they've left. Plus, whilst we know where people stand, how he does at Boro will be interesting as it should help indicate which of the opposing viewpoints were correct. I hope the 'I told you so' element isn't continued, but I think it's fine for people to discuss his progress, especially given we have £2m riding on him firing them to promotion!
Lancaster Rover Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Sounds like he played well. "Rhodes looks like a proper centre-forward.Good at everything and natural footballer.Had 4 great chances though & no goal...yet #borolive" He will get the goals, but Nugent's goal puts a bit of pressure on him. Bit of an oxymoron that sentence, good at everything and a natural footballer yet had 4 great chances and not scored, something not right there! Graham and Rhodes have similar if not identical records since joining their new clubs.......................... I agree though that Rhodes watch has become very boring.

But the recently departed (and also lamented) Gestede and Cairney don't get appraised after they have played. Rhodes certainly divides opinion but I just think we have to move on and look forward. After all the past has no future.
T J Hooker Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Im still watching out for goodwillie Sorry😞
JHRover Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 It won't have done Rhodes any favours that he hasn't scored despite numerous chances in the last two games at Leeds and against Cardiff, and then last night he was replaced by Nugent who then scored within 10 minutes of coming on. On the other hand Cairney is in outstanding form for Fulham at the moment scoring goals for fun
Parsonblue Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 What's the point of talking about a player who wanted to leave, got his wish and is no longer here? Rhodes is part of the club's history not its future.
DavidMailsTightPerm Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Sounds like he played well. "Rhodes looks like a proper centre-forward.Good at everything and natural footballer.Had 4 great chances though & no goal...yet #borolive" He will get the goals, but Nugent's goal puts a bit of pressure on him. It sounds like he is the exact opposite of what we had at Rovers - scored goals for fun, but nobody described him as a proper centre forward, good at everything, natural footballer (natural goal scorer maybe) - surely they are describing somebody else ?
