If it's on lower wages than before, and a pay-as-you-play deal then I'm fine with it. He has a lot to prove after the last couple of seasons in my opinion.

I don't mind as long as there is acceptance on both sides that he isn't going to be a starter. I didn't like it last season when he had a run of starting games when everyone knew he couldn't last 90 minutes and would need to be taken off after 60 minutes. That isn't his fault and I don't doubt his effort and professionalism, its just a sign of the times that he cannot complete 90 minutes any more. It seems silly to me starting him knowing that one of our subs is already used up taking Conway off after an hour.

If he knows and the manager knows that he's a second half sub that can come on and use his experience then I'm happy with it.

As you say if he he starts that's a sub used up straight away. It doesn't make any sense to me. The guy is getting older and slower and we're playing at a higher level.

So, let me get this straight, you don't think we should have signed Conway to a new deal?

Obviously he doesn't.  However, it's what Mowbray thinks that matters. And if he wants him he obviously has plans on ways he thinks he can use him

I thought I'd made that pretty clear. No. I would have thanked him for his service and allowed him to join another club. Re-signing him isn't a step in the right direction. Just my opinion of course.

I agree, especially since we have 0 out and out wingers at the club. Will be a good backup/squad option

If we have 0 out and out wingers, that doesn't justify offering a deal to someone, who is a busted flush (my opinion , of course)

If we had signed a 33 year old from another club on a one year deal people would be up in arms. I don't buy the leader/coach/experience/knows the club line that is being spun to justify his contract. I have seen enough of him over the last couple of seasons to know he simply isn't good enough anymore.

Agreed.I don't buy it either. Going a bit further, I am troubled by the decision and what it could imply....
