Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago (edited) Another case of playing a player in a position that suits his skill set best. Funny how his new club had it figured out pretty sharpish. Edited 10 hours ago by Tyrone Shoelaces 4 Quote

Markanday was ignored by several Rovers managers. Dolan was not. Markanday is currently toiling in League 2. Dolan is not. Dolan frustrated the life out of me but I'd pick him 10 times out of 10 ahead of Markanday. In answer to your two questions. Yes, when Venkys took over at the Rovers, I thought it was a good appointment. Now I have changed my opinion. On the second question, no I have never heard of backfire effect. Quote

He seemed a good championship player, but not much more than that . It's another in quite a few who we have written off only to be surprised. I think the main thing to take away is supporters generally (myself included) are not actually that good at judging the quality of players. We can only judge and gauge off what we see on the pitch and hear in interviews, social media etc but even given that some still have odd takes on certain players for some reason. Think everyone would agree he was frustrating but still had potential to be better and when he was good he was good. As long as he doesn't end up at that lot up the road i wish him nothing but as much success as possible as at least he didn't hide and run his contract out like some other A holes. 5 Quote

He was competent but had many faults, just like most Championship players. I watch very little Spanish football, but it is slower and less physical than the English game. Both these aspects will suit Dolan as I felt that oftentimes he was not physically up to it. It is very early on though, he might be on the outs come Christmas. Or he could be the next Vinny Samways. I'd have thought that if Dolan was "good" another English team would have taken him. I don't think Espanyol would have been a club that was on his radar in June. We will never know though. Anyway, he's gone, probably never to return. I'll await the time when de Neve reaches Dolan's level instead. Quote

philipl Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago He is 23 so plenty of opportunity to iron out his weaknesses and build on his strengths. Liga football could well be more suited to him than the Championship. Brilliant to see his great start - let's hope he can keep this going. 6 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago (edited) He could be infuriating at times but you couldn’t fault his effort. It’ll be interesting to see if they can coach the faults in his game out of him, if they do they’ll have a good player on their hands. He was always going to be a better bet than BBD because his willingness to work 100%. Edited 6 hours ago by Tyrone Shoelaces 2 Quote
M_B Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Wish him all the best, always tried his hardest, his temperament was never in doubt. I never understood the vitriol towards him. I wonder if those who used to say , if he wants to go I'll drive him there myself, realised it would be to the Bernabeu rather than Barnsley. 1 Quote

And his natural skill He'll no doubt now be playing with a few players who are at the same skill level or above so no need to be flashy and show off in that environment. If he sticks to the basics then he'll be very good. His work rate was always 100% and I'm happy to see him doing well. He's got to where he has by working hard and never giving up despite being let go by City as a youngster, getting let go by Preston (ha) and not being given a serious offer from Rovers where he'd established himself as a first team player at the age of 23. As Tomphil said, as long as he doesn't end up playing for the clampits then I wish him the best. 2 Quote
