Mattyblue Posted October 20 Posted October 20 No, no, its only because La Liga’s not at the Championship’s level. Quote

I watch very little Spanish football, but it is slower and less physical than the English game. Both these aspects will suit Dolan as I felt that oftentimes he was not physically up to it. It is very early on though, he might be on the outs come Christmas. Or he could be the next Vinny Samways. I'd have thought that if Dolan was "good" another English team would have taken him. I don't think Espanyol would have been a club that was on his radar in June. We will never know though. Anyway, he's gone, probably never to return. I'll await the time when de Neve reaches Dolan's level instead. There are alot of Dolans in the championship we just happened to have our own and I for one was pretty gutted to see him go. When a player gets the ball you want to feel excited like something could happen, only player I get that with now is Alebiosu Quote

Backroom Silas Posted 20 hours ago Backroom Posted 20 hours ago Looks like he's been dropped to the bench last 3 games. A football stat site has him 12 out of 17 Espanyol players for performance rating. Not sure he's ripping it up over there as much as people initially thought. Quote

One of those 3 games was a cup game against a pie and pea team. He's doing well over there imho. Let's see where he's at at seasons end. Not that I'm particularly bothered either way. Quote
roversfan99 Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago I dont think anyone on here felt that he was likely to flourish playing at a much higher level. Obviously made the correct move as you should always strive to better yourself and has already played against some great teams and played lots of game time. But he was still undoubtedly a loss for us. Quote

I was reading that as, you're already out of favour and on the bench, and not even getting a confidence boosting runout in the cup. But, who knows, maybe he's carrying a knock. 13 minutes ago, roversfan99 said: But he was still undoubtedly a loss for us. No doubt, but we're pretty shit. I'll make a bold prediction. He won't be a regular starter for them come New Year. Not hating on him. Genuinely wish him the best. But I can’t argue against my head. And I think he's below that level and will get found out. CaptainBeanfart Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Even if he ends up a squad player in La Liga, the boy's done good. He's not a failure if he isn't starting every week. 3 1 Quote

Tbh, he might do better coming on as a sub, up against tired players, with his trickery and the slightly more space afforded in La Liga. Could be more productive that way. Quote
Rogerb Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Came on for second half in the last game but has slipped from the starting line up in recent weeks. Quote
AspRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago He's already done better in Spain than Brereton managed. In fact of all the 'stars' to have left us for greener pastures in recent years he's only really behind Wharton in terms of where he's ended up and minutes played. Fair play to the lad. 1 Quote

AspRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Honestly Raya seems like a lifetime ago at this point, I'd completely forgotten about him. Quote

joey_big_nose Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Oooh what a great pub quiz question - since 2011 what player has gone on to have the most top flight games across Europes five major leagues. Got to be (if we exclude loanees) 1. Raya 2. Cairney After that a lot more guessing. Hanley, Duffy racked up a few. Hoilett? BBD. Wharton now obviously. Ooh... Josh King must be up there. Armstrong Really highlights how few top level players we have had. Quote

Hasta Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Armstrong left Rovers, has made 83 Premier League appearances and also scored a winning Wembley goal in a play off final to get promoted. He’s probably maxed out what he could realistically achieve in his career. Quote
